UNPACKING.
On receipt inspect the packaging and contents for signs of damage. If damage has occurred advise
the carrier and/or the suppliers immediately. Inspect the contents to confirm that all items are
present and undamaged. If any items are missing or damaged contact the supplier. It is advised
that the original carton is retained as this forms the safest transport container in the event that a
unit has to be returned for any reason.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
Instructions: This Handbook and all relevant safety instructions should be read before attempting
to install, connect or operate the unit. These instructions should also be retained and kept in a safe
place for future reference.
Moisture: Do not expose the internal electronics of this unit to moisture i.e. take care during
general maintenance procedures not to open the unit while its raining without providing adequate
protection. The unit comprises a chassis mounted p.c.b. protected by an IP67 rated plastic
enclosure. Care must be taken when fitting cable entry glands to ensure that the IP rating is not
compromised. Fixing hole are provided in the corners of the main enclosure, outboard of the seal,
so it is not necessary to drill any additional fixing holes.
Power Source: Ensure that the power supply used complies with the power requirement stated on
the manufacturers label.
Servicing: Servicing of this unit should only be undertaken by qualified service personnel. On the
completion of servicing, safety checks should be performed to ensure that the unit is in proper
operating condition.
Safety Standards: All the relevant safety precautions as laid down by British Standards and Health
and Safety at Work Act should be observed.
This symbol is used to warn users that mains voltage is present with the consequent
electric shock risk.
This symbol is used to alert users to important operating and maintenance
instructions.

P.c.b. Terminal Blocks
The terminal blocks used on the receiver p.c.b. are quick release lever action type and
consequently do not require a screwdriver to make a termination. The correct method of terminating
is as follows:-
1.Use conductors between 0.85 mm
2
and 2.5 mm
2
2.Strip the conductor to a length of 5 mm to 6 mm
3.Press down the relevant terminal block lever with a screwdriver or similar tool.
4.Insert the wire.
5.Release the lever.
Removal of a wire is the reverse procedure

The drx300 requires all connections to the PCB to be made by the installer. These connections are:
power, video in, video out, and pan or auxiliary outputs. See Table for the correct connections.
The drx300 is normally supplied pre-configured to suit the application for which it is intended and
this will be to control either a mains-operated pan & tilt head plus housing, or to control a 24-volt
pan & tilt head plus housing. The unit is suitable for 230 volt mains operation. As a factory fitted
option, the receiver can be supplied to operate from 24Va.c. or 110Va.c. Specify at time of order.
For mains-voltage pan & tilt head plus housing, the 110Vac or 230Vac supply is made via the IEC
socket J4. (Note - for mains operations, J5 is linked Pins 1 to 4 and Pins 3 to 6.)
When using 24Vac heads, if the receiver is operating from a 110Vac or 230Vac supply either a
230/24Vac Kit or 110/24Vac Kit is used. The jumper fitted to J5 is removed and the plug supplied
with the kit is connected to J5. Fuse F2 is changed to the value shown in the table on 2.
Receivers operating from 24Vac can only operate 24Vac heads. No kit is required.
When operating from a 24Vac supply, power connection is by means of a screw terminal replacing
the IEC socket.
An 8 way DIL switch is provided allowing various options to be set as follows:-
SW1 On - 6 volt lens-motor drive
Off - 12 volt lens-motor drive
SW2 Controls auto-iris remote control features
On - Cosmicar lens, 2.5 - 5.5 volts
Off - Seiko/Video Technical lens, 2.5 - 12 volts
SW3 and SW4 Select auxiliary function (single function only)
SW3
SW4 Function
On On Wash
On Off Lights
Off On Wipe
Off Off Autopan
SW5,6,7 Unused
SW8 Start receiver self test, see later in manual.
Two LED's (Error and Cable) are mounted on-board to give simple system status information. Their
functions are as follows:-
Cable LED
Regular Blinking - Telemetry and Sync signals OK
Blinking but mainly ON - No telemetry information from the transmitter
Blinking but mainly OFF - No sync information from the camera
Error LED Both LED's
On - Transmission error (e.g. framing error, parity error) Off - No power, or major PCB error
