Chapter 1
Print Operations
Printing from PC
You can print images or data of application software from PC on which the printer driver is installed.
z To print from PC, the setup of this machine and PC is necessary.
For setting up the machine as a network printer, refer to Setting up the Network Configuration in the
Operating Instructions (For Administrator Setup) of provided CD-ROM.
For installing the printer driver to your PC, refer to Installing the Printer Driver and Application Software in
the Operating Instructions (For User Setup) of provided CD-ROM.
z The illustrations shown for the following steps are of WordPad on Windows
®
XP.
The procedures for other applications and Windows operating systems are basically the same, even though the
screen displays may differ.

Select “Print” from the “File” menu.

Select the desired printer in “Select
Printer”.

Click “Preferences to configure the
print settings if necessary.

Change the print settings, and then
click “OK”.

the Paper Tray, use the Sheet Bypass.

Printing from SD Memory Card/USB Flash
Memory/Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox
You can print data saved in the SD Memory Card, USB Flash Memory, Internal Hard Disk Drive, or
Mailbox using the Control Panel of the machine.
There are two ways for selecting data to print.
Photo Print
Photo images (JPEG files) are displayed as thumbnails in the Thumbnail/Individual and Thumbnail/
Index Print tabs, and can be printed individually or as thumbnail indexes.
z Only JPEG files in EXIF* format ver 2.1 or later for the digital camera are displayed as thumbnails.
z SD Logo is a trademark.
z SDHC Logo is a trademark.
* Short for Exchangeable Image File, a standard format used for storing interchange information in digital
photography image files using JPEG compression. (Ex: Dimensions, Date Picture Taken, Camera Model, File
Type, Size).
SD Memory Card: For printing pictures taken by a digital camera, etc., (see page 11).

Index Print
Selecting thumbnails of files from the Thumbnail/Individual or Thumbnail/Index Print tab
Individual Print: Selected files are printed individually.
z The frame size for the Individual Print can be changed. For details,
refer to Selecting the Frame Size for Individual Print (see page
36).
Index Print: Selected files are printed as thumbnail indexes.
z The layout for the Index Print can be changed. For details, refer to
Selecting the Layout for Index Print (see page 38).

File Print
Files other than photo images (JPEG/TIFF/PDF files) are displayed in the File List tab.
z Only one file can be selected at a time in the File List tab. For more details, refer to step 5 of Printing from
USB Flash Memory (see page 14).
USB Flash Memory: For printing files copied to the USB Flash Memory from PC (see page 14).
Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox: For printing files saved in the machine from PC on the network
(see pages 16 and 17).

Basic Operation Procedure
This section describes the workflow of printing data using the Control Panel of the machine. For the
detailed description of procedures for each print function, refer to the relevant suggested section.

Press the Print key if the machine is
set to other function mode.

Select the desired print function.
SD Print:
Select when printing data in the SD Memory
Card, USB Flash Memory or Internal Hard
Disk Drive (see pages 11 to 16).
Mailbox:
Select when printing or deleting data saved
in Mailbox (see pages 17 to 21).
Job Control:
Select when turning the printer on-line or off-
line, canceling the current print job, or
managing print data in the Output Queue
(see pages 22 to 24).
z You can confirm the progress information
while printing in the message area of the
Touch Panel Display by setting the Function
Parameter “27 PC Print Page Display
(Printer Settings > General User Mode) to
On”.
For more details, refer to Printer Settings in
the Operating Instructions (For Function
Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
z After finishing printing, press the Reset key to
return to the initial screen of the currently active
mode.

Printing from SD Memory Card
You can print images directly from the SD Memory Card.
z Be sure to use only a genuine SD Memory Card* (up to 32GB).
z Image data saved on the SD Memory Card cannot be printed if the Function Parameter “70 SD/USB Memory
Function” (General Settings > Key Operator Mode) is set to “No”. For more details on this setting, refer to
General Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
* SD Memory Card and SDHC Memory Card are referred to as SD Memory Card in this manual.
z Any commercial grade genuine SD / SDHC Memory Card can be used.
z The optional Printer Controller Module is required for printing text/graphic files in the PDF format.
z Some TIFF and PDF files cannot be printed directly from the SD Memory Card depending on the type of
format.
z When the printing result differs from the actual photograph image, set the Function Parameter 30 SD Print
Settings (03 Auto Contrast)” (Printer Settings > General User Mode) to “On” (the initial setting of this function
is “On”). The machine will automatically adjust the print quality. However, the level of improvement will vary with
each photograph. For details, refer to the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-
ROM.

Insert the SD Memory Card.
Push the Slot Cover to open it.
Insert the SD Memory Card as illustrated.

The data and the folder name on the SD
Memory Card are displayed.

Select “Thumbnail/Individual” or
Thumbnail/Index Print”.
z To print thumbnail indexes (Index Print),
select the desired data from the Thumbnail/
Index Print tab.
z To print images individually (Individual
Print), select the desired data from the
Thumbnail/Individual tab.

Select the desired data.
z You can select all files at a time with the
Select All” button.
z Images are printed in the selected order.
z Select or to scroll pages.
z If the desired data and the name of the
folder are not displayed, press the button
until the desired data and folder appears.
When thumbnails are not displayed
Ex: JPEG files except from digital camera are
displayed as follows.
Ex: When photo images are not included, a
file list is displayed.
z To select data from the File List tab, refer to
step 5 of Printing from USB Flash
Memory (see page 14).
z The default directory can be set to display
either “DCIM” (a folder for digital camera
images) or “Scan Img by changing the
setting of the Function Parameter “30 SD
Print Settings (01 SD/USB Memory Def.
Dir.)” (Printer Settings > General User
Mode). For more details on this setting, refer
to Printer Settings in the Operating
Instructions (For Function Parameters) of
provided CD-ROM.
z The default display type can be set to
Index”, “Indivi.”, or “FileList” by changing
the setting of the Function Parameter “30
SD Print Settings (02 SD/USB Mem. Disp.
Type)” (Printer Settings > General User
Mode). For more details on this setting, refer
to Printer Settings in the Operating
Instructions (For Function Parameters) of
provided CD-ROM.
z The frame size for the Individual Print can
be changed. For details, refer to Selecting
the Frame Size for Individual Print (see
page 36).
z The Layout for the Index Print can be
changed. For details, refer to Selecting the
Layout for Index Print (see page 38).

remove it.
z Do not remove the SD Memory Card while
the Access Indicator is flashing.

Close the Slot Cover.
z When re-inserting the SD Memory Card into
the slot, pull it out completely once, and then
insert the card again.
z When canceling the operation, press the Reset
key on the Control Panel.

Printing from USB Flash Memory
You can print images directly from the USB Flash Memory.
z Be sure to use only a USB Flash Memory that supports Mass Storage Class (FAT16 or FAT32 format).
z USB Flash Memory with the security function cannot be used.
z We cannot guarantee compatibility with all USB Flash Memories. For details, contact the authorized Panasonic
dealer.
z The image data saved on the USB Flash Memory cannot be printed if the Function Parameter “70 SD/USB
Memory Function” (General Settings > Key Operator Mode) is set to “No”. For more details on this setting,
refer to General Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.

Printing from the Internal Hard Disk Drive
You can print images saved in the internal Hard Disk Drive.
z The Hard Disk Drive is enabled with 12 image boxes.

Image Box in the Hard Drive.
z When the SD Memory Card or USB Flash
Memory has been inserted, press the
button to display the Hard Drive folder.

Only one Image Box can be selected at a time.

Select the desired data.
z Only one file can be selected at a time from
the Image Box.

Enter the desired number of prints.

Mailbox Printing
Printing from Mailbox
You can print data saved in the machine’s Mailbox using the Control Panel. User ID (and password for
Secure Mailbox) is required to print documents saved in Mailbox. Mailbox print is suitable for printing
confidential documents.
z For instructions on how to save printing data to Mailbox, refer to Print Operation (for Printer) in the Document
Management System (Printer Driver) of provided CD-ROM.

Select “Mailbox”.

Enter the mailbox User ID (up to 8
digits), and then select “OK”.
z When print data is saved in only one of the
mailboxes (Check then Print, Mailbox, or
Secure Mailbox), the mailbox is opened. In
this case, go to step 5.

When Check then Print is selected
z Only one file can be selected at a time.
Enter the desired number of copies, and
then select “OK”.
z When the Function Parameter “15 Check
then Print Qty” (Printer Settings > Key
Operator Mode) is set to “Yes”, the screen
confirming the number of copies is
displayed. For more details, refer to Printer
Settings in the Operating Instructions (For
Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
When Mailbox is selected
z All files can be selected at a time with the
Select All” button.
z When the Function Parameter “16 Mailbox
Print Qty” (Printer Settings > Key Operator
Mode) is set to “Yes, the screen confirming
the number of copies is displayed. Enter the
desired number, and then select “OK”. For
more details, refer to Printer Settings in the
Operating Instructions (For Function
Parameters) of provided CD-ROM.
Check
then Print
Prints one proof set before
printing multiple sets. The
document data will be deleted
after printing.
Mailbox Prints data in the mailbox that is
specified by User ID. The
document data will remain in the
mailbox until it is deleted.
Secure
Mailbox
Prints data in the mailbox that is
specified by User ID. Password is
also required to print confidential
documents saved in Secure
Mailbox. The document data will
remain in the mailbox until it is
deleted.

When Secure Mailbox is selected
z Only one file can be selected at a time.
After selecting the data in Secure Mailbox,
enter the password (8 to 16 digits), and
then selectOK”.
z When saving print data in the Secure
Mailbox of the machine, set the password in
more than 8 digits (the machine does not
accept the data with the password in less
than 8 digits). For more details, refer to the
Document Management System (Printer
Driver) of provided CD-ROM.
z When the Function Parameter “17 Secure
MB Print Qty” (Printer Settings > Key
Operator Mode) is set to “Yes”, the screen
confirming the number of copies is
displayed. Enter the desired number, and
select “OK”. For more details, refer to
Printer Settings in the Operating
Instructions (For Function Parameters) of
provided CD-ROM.

WhenMailbox” or “Secure Mailbox

whether to delete the data after

Deleting Mailbox Data
