wirelessdevicessuchastheSierraWirelessmodemareusedin

radiointerference.Insuchareas,theSierraWirelessmodem
MUSTBEPOWEREDOFF
.TheSierraWirelessmodemcan
transmitsignalsthatcouldinterferewiththisequipment.
DonotoperatetheSierraWirelessmodeminanyaircraft,
whethertheaircraftisonthegroundorinflight.Inaircraft,the
SierraWirelessmodemMUSTBEPOWE REDOFF.When
operating,theSierraWirelessmodemcantransmitsignalsthat
couldinterferewithvariousonboardsystems.
Note: Some airlines may permit the use of cellular phones while the
aircraft is on the ground and the door is open. Sierra Wireless
modems may be used at this time.
Thedriveroroperatorofanyvehicleshouldnotoperatethe
SierraWirelessmodemwhileincontrolofavehicle.Doingso
willdetractfromthedriveroroperatorʹscontrolandoperation
ofthatvehicle.In somestatesandprovinces, operatingsuch

connectionforportablecomputersinvehiclesoroffices.
IftheMPmodemisinstalledinavehicle,ittypicallyis
mountedinthetrunkandconnectedtoanotebookcomputer
inthepassengercompartment.Aradiofrequency(RF)antenna
mountedontheroofofthevehicleenablestheMPmodemto
communicatethroughawirelessnetworktoahost
computer.
AbuiltinGlobalPo sitioningSystem(GPS)modu leprovides
locationandheadingdatathatcanalsoberemotelymonitored.
TheMPmodemhasaruggeddesignthatallowsitto
withstandthevibration,shock,humidity,andextremesof
temperatureexperiencedinthenormaloperationofpolice,
emergency,utility,andfieldservicevehicles.
YoucanusethenetworkconnectionprovidedbytheMP
modemtoaccessshareddata,browsetheInternet,andsend
andreceiveemailandtextmessages.TheMPmodemalso
allowsforsensors,gauges,andalarms(suchaspanicbuttons)
tobeinstalledinvehiclesandremotelymonitoredfroma
centrallocation.

TheserviceprovidersuppliesaSubscriberIdentityModule
(SIM)card—sometimescalledasmartcardorsmart chip—for
eachaccount.The SIMcardprovidestheMPmodem’sidentity
onthenetwork.Itcontainsaccountinformationandmustbe
