Safety precautions:
The receiver has been manufactured in accordance with international safety standards .For your own safety you should
read the notes on safety precautions carefully, and take note of them ,before operating your new receiver .For your own
safety please be sure to follow these safety precautions ;
1. When installing the receiver, ensure there is a gap of approximately 5cm around
the receiver to enable air to circulate freely and prevent overheating.
2 Do not install this equipment in a confined space such as a book case or similar
unit. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with
items such as newspaper, table-cloths, curtains etc.
3, No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the
apparatus;
4, The receiver shall not be exposed to dripping
or
splashing
;
No objects filled with liquids, such as vases.
5, The mains plug is used as a disconnect device, the disconnect
device shall remain readily operable and accessible.
6, Power cord must be placed correctly. Do not touch the power
Cord and switch when your hands are damp or wet.
7, The normal operating temperature of the receiver is between
5°C and 40°C. Use the apparatus only in moderate climates.
(Not in tropical climates).
8, The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire etc. Take attention to the
environmental aspects of battery disposal.
Correct Handling of Batteries:
Batteries can contain toxins. Take care that the batteries do not get into children‟s hands. Children might put
batteries in their mouths and swallow them.
Leaking batteries can cause damage to the remote control. If the receiver is not used for a long time, take the
batteries out of the remote control.
Batteries may contain toxins that damage the environment. For this reason, it is absolutely essential that you
dispose of the batteries in accordance with the legal provisions that are in force in your country at the time. Never
throw batteries away in your normal household refuse. This is a requirement of the Battery and Accumulators
directive.

1.0 General Information
The TRIAX ST-HD527CI allows you to view Satellite and Terrestrial programmes. It will receive
Standard Definition, (SD), Terrestrial channels and Standard plus High Definition, (HD),
satellite channels. (Note that reception of High Definition satellite channels depends on what is
being broadcast by the service provider). High Definition channels can be viewed on HD ready
TV‟s via a HDMI cable, (not included). This user guide covers the installation of the TRIAX ST-
HD527CI and the necessary steps to operate various features. It also explains special features
available only in this TRIAX ST-HD527CI in detail, and will allow you to take full advantage of these
features.
1.1 Main Features

1.2 For Your Safety
Allow clear space around the TRIAX ST-HD527CI for sufficient ventilation
Do not cover the TRIAX ST-HD527CI or place it on a unit that emits heat
Use a soft cloth and a mild solution of washing liquid to clean the casing (switch receiver off)
Do not connect or change cables when the TRIAX ST-HD527CI is plugged in
Do not remove any covers
Do not allow the unit to be exposed to extreme heat, cold or humid conditions
Never allow liquids, spray or other materials to come into contact with the inside of the model.

1.4 General Operation of the TRIAX ST-HD527CI
The everyday operation of your TRIAX ST-HD527CI is based on a series of user friendly On
Screen Displays. (OSD‟s), and menus. These menus will help you get the most from your TRIAX
ST-HD527CI, guiding you through installation, channel organizing, viewing and many other
functions.
All functions can be carried out using the buttons on the RCU, and some of the functions can also
be carried out using the buttons on the front panel.
Please be aware that new software may change the functionality of the TRIAX ST-HD527CI.
Should you experience any difficulties with the operation of your TRIAX ST-HD527CI, please
consult the relevant section of this manual, or alternatively, call your Triax dealer.

2. First Time Installation:
2.0 Easy Installation:
When the Triax ST-HD527CI is switched on for the first time, (or after a factory reset), the Easy
Installation” menu is shown. Use the < > buttons on the RCU to select the desired language, country
and screen format, (if different to the default settings).
If you wish to proceed with the “Easy Installation”, (recommended), press the Blue button on the
RCU to “Continue” and follow the on screen instructions, alternatively, press the Yellow button on the
RCU to enter the “Main Menu”.
If “Easy Installation” is selected, the following screens will be displayed. Follow the On Screen
instructions to scan and save Terrestrial and Satellite channels.
2.1 Easy Installation Terrestrial:
2.1.1 Channel Search:
Select whether you need to search for Free To Air, (FTA),
channels only, (FTA ON), or all channels, (FTA OFF).
Select Auto or Manual Search
Available TV and Radio stations will be listed.
When the scan is complete, press “” to continue.

2.2 Easy Installation Satellite:
2.2.1 Channel Search:
The default satellite is Astra / Eurobird (28.2° / 28.5°E)
Use the buttons on the RCU to change the default satellite.
If only Free To Air, (FTA), channels are required, select FTA Only” and press “”.
Press the Blue button on the RCU to start the scan.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
3.0 Navigating the Menu screens:
If you skip “Easy Installation” or press theMenu” button on the RCU, the “Main Menu” is displayed.
The “Main Menugives access to 5 sub- menus as below:

During installation, use the

You can also use the numeric keys on the RCU to enter a numeric value.
To escape the menu system at anytime, press

3.1.1 Antenna Setup
Fixed
Antenna
: You can select a maximum of 15 antennas for the required satellites.
Type
: Fixed

: Select the required satellite.
LNB Type:
Select your LNB type, (Normal, Universal, LNBF).
LNB Freq
: Enter the LNB frequency applicable to your LNB using the numeric keys on the
RCU. If you have a dual LNB, enter the correct value.
Tone: (0KHz, 22KHz,None)
: Select the tone required to configure the antenna.
DiSEqC
: Select None, Port1, Port2, Port3, Port4.
DVB-T Antenna feed 5V:
To power an active antenna, select ON, OFF (Default off).
Select EXIT to finish antenna setup.

3.2 Channel Search Menu:
Select the services you wish to scan, (Terrestrial, Satellite or both)
3.2.1 Terrestrial:
For the Terrestrial Channel Search see section 2.1.1
3.2.2 Satellite:

: Select desired satellite using the < > buttons on the RCU. Information on the
selected satellite is displayed on the right side of the screen.

EDIT: To EDIT certain preprogrammed parameters such as Transponder, Frequency,
Symbol Rate, Polarization and 22 KHz information, press the RED button on the RCU.

: Select desired transponder. Pressing the
key will display a drop down
box which lists the transponders and allows a transponder to be selected.
6. Frequency & Symbol Rate
: Edit the Frequency and Symbol Rate.
7. Polarization
: Select Horizontal or Vertical.

Search Mode: Select the required satellite search mode as follows:
Search 1 Sat
: Allows you to search channels using the arrow keys.
Search TP
: Search channels in one TP, which has been selected from the
TP column

Search Network
: This setting will search all channels at once on all satellites.
The TRIAX ST-HD527CI will automatically search channels for TV and Radio.
During this procedure you can see a list of the previously searched channels in the
Searched
List Box on the screen.
3.3 System Setting:
The
System Setting
menu allows you to set items according to your requirements.
1. OSD Language
: Select the required language for the On Screen Display.
2. Audio Language
: Select the priority audio language (provided that this language is
supported by the channel).
3. Subtitle:
Select Subtitle Language
4. Screen Format
: Select the required screen format, (Auto, 4:3, 16:9 and 4:3 Letterbox available)
5. Resolution:
Select the required screen resolution,

6. Start On Channel
: If you press
key, the channel list can be displayed. Select the required
channel from the list and the ST-HD527CI will boot up to this channel when switched on.
7. Sort Channel by LCN:
Logical Channel Numbers. When ON, Terrestrial channels will
be listed in order, e.g. BBC1 = Ch 1, BBC2 = Ch 2, etc. (Default setting is ON).
8. Partition number:
Usually you get information real time from the satellite automatically
but sometimes they transmit the wrong information. In this case, you can adjust the real time
using this function.

4 Air Download:
This feature allows you to set up the receiver to search and download software which is
transmitted „over the air‟ from Satellite.
Note: This feature can only be used if the information is being transmitted
3.5 Parental Lock:
This function allows you to lock the channel with a password in order to prevent children from
accessing the channel.
You can also protect your installed data and information using the
Install Lock
.
How to change the Password
1. Enter the current password.
2. Select
ON
of Parental Lock.
3. Enter new password.
4. Confirm your new password entering new password again.
Note
: Default password is 0000
Warning
: Once you change the password, please keep it safely.

3.6 Factory Default
If you want to bring TRIAX ST-HD527CI back to the factory default condition, select Factory
Default and press the
button on the RCU.

A warning message will be displayed. To confirm, select “OK” and press
Warning
: On selecting factory default you will lose all of data and information, which was
previously installed.
4.0 Receiver Information:
View the current receiver information.

5.0 Common Interface
The Triax ST-HD527CI has embedded Conax. If Conax encrypted channels are required then
they can be accessed by inserting the relevant Smartcard into the Card Reader slot.
By Inserting the relevant Conditional Access Module, (CAM), and Smartcard, various
scrambled channels encrypted by Viaccess, Nagravision, Irdeto, Cryptoworks and SECA can
also be decoded.
There are two CAM slots and one Card Reader. These are located behind the fold down cover
on the front panel of the receiver.
5.1 Installing the Conditional Access Modules and Smartcards
To be able to receive scrambled digital satellite channels you need a Smartcard and a Common
Interface CA (Conditional Access) module from the Service Provider of your choice. (Note: You do
not require a CAM to receive Conax encrypted channels, only a suitable Smartcard).
The Smartcard and the CA module may also provide access to special menus not described in
this manual. If so, please follow the instructions from the Service Provider.
Only free to air channels are available without the Smartcard and CA Module.
Insert the CA Module in the slot of the TRIAX ST-HD527CI and insert the Smartcard into the
CA module. This will give you access to scrambled channels.
Note
: TRIAX ST-HD527CI has 2 slots for CA Module
5.2 CAM Manager
Select “Access Control” / “Common Interface” from the Main Menu. The TRIAX ST-HD527CI
detects and shows the names of the CA Module which you have inserted in the slots.
Select slot 1 or slot 2.
You will then see the information provided by the Program provider.
Note
: This information may be different for each Program Provider.

6. General Viewing Function
The following describes the basic functions of your TRIAX ST-HD527CI while watching
satellite or Terrestrial TV or listening to Radio channels.
TRIAX ST-HD527CI enables you to watch Free To Air Satellite and Terrestrial channels or
various scrambled channels if the relevant CAMs and Smart cards are installed. It will
receive Standard Definition, (SD), Terrestrial channels and Standard plus High Definition,
(HD), satellite channels. (Note that reception of High Definition satellite channels
depends on what is being broadcast by the service provider). High Definition channels
can be viewed on HD ready TV‟s via a HDMI cable, (not included).
Programmes can also be recorded, using the PVR functions. This requires an external
memory device, (not included), connected to the ST-HD527CI via the USB connector.
While watching a programme, the current channel information can be displayed on the
bottom of the screen if you press the i button on the RCU.
6.1 Select Channel
To select a channel, use the
PR+, PR-
keys on the front panel or Ch+, Ch- keys on the
RCU. Alternatively enter the channel number using the numeric keys on the RCU.
In addition to the above functions, there is a more convenient way to change the channel to be
viewed.
Press
key on the RCU and the channel list will be displayed on the screen. By pressing
again or the
EXIT
key on the RCU, the channel list will disappear.
To select a channel, use the , buttons on the RCU to navigate up or down the channel
list. The selected channel will be highlighted. Press the button on the RCU to watch the
selected channel.
To scroll up or scroll down the channel list a page at a time, press the “Page Up” or “Page
Down” buttons on the RCU. Alternatively press the ” buttons on the RCU.
6.2 Pause the frame

6.3 Previous Channel Recall
Press the “BACK” button on the RCU to toggle between the current and previously watched
channel.
6.4 TV & Radio Mode

on the RCU to toggle between TV and Radio modes.
6.5 Channel Information
Every time you change channels, you will receive program information for a few seconds.
While watching the channel you can see the current channel information at anytime by
pressing the
INFO, (“i”),
button on the RCU.
6.6 Volume & Audio Control
6.6.1. Volume Control
To increase or decrease volume:
Use the VOL+, VOL- buttons on the front panel
Use the VOL+, VOL- buttons on the RCU
Use the ” buttons on the RCU.
6.6.2 Mute
To mute the sound, press the MUTE button on the RCU. To bring back the normal sound, press
the MUTE button again.
6.6.3. Audio Control
Press the L/R button on the RCU to select one of three possible Audio settings (Left, Right
and Stereo)
The current audio setting will be displayed in the channel information
6.6.4 Language Selection
Press the
AUDIO
key on the RCU repeatedly to select audio-language. This is dependent on the
transmission of the audio signal.
