2.1 Where to locate your Refrigerator
The Refrigeratormustbe inst_lledon a fiatand levelfloor,
awayfrom directsunlightandfrom anyobjectwhich may

hingeplacementarea.
Prepareto resetrowerhingeon opposilesidebyholding
ra_ supportplatewhilemountinglowerhinge(F4)lo
cabinet.
Fit Refrigeratordoorontolowerhinge.
=Resetfelt middrehinge andplasticspacer(this_oartis
suppliedwithIheReltigeratorparts bag).
e FitFreezerdooronto[eftmiddlehinge,

2.3 Installing the Refrigerator
ThisRelrigeratormustbe instaltedinaccordancewith

ThisRefrigeratorisenrydesignedfor domesticuse.Itis
yourtotalresponsabilityifyouintendto use[tin trailler.
Toensureunintenupledoper!!ion,we recommendIhat
Ihegas supplysystembeled fromtwogascylinders,with
an automaticsw[tchoverdevice,Thespeciliedluel is
propaneandthe supplypressuremustbe 11inches
(280ram)watercolumn.The Refrigeratormuslbe
connectedwithcopperorotheracceptabletubingof
sufficientdiameterto avoida pressuredropof morethan
one inch(25 ram)watergaugeup totheRefrigeratorinlet,
evenwithethergas-operatedappriances(suchas heaters,
andthe like)operatingfromthesamesystem.
Theapplianceanditsindividualshutoilvalvemustbe
disconnectedfrom thegassupplypipingsystemduring
anypressuretestingof Ihatsystemat lest pressures[n
excessof 1/2psig(3,5kPa).
Theappliancemusl be isolatedfrom_e gassupply
pipingsyslem byclosingils individualmanualshut off
valveduringany pressurelest[ngof Ihegassupply

Toinstallthe Refrigerator:
If necessary,installa metalor woodpaneloverthefloor
as recommendedin item2.!. (b).
Disassembletheburnerbox(Dg).
Placethe Refrigeratorin ils definiteposition.Turnthe
bolts(B1) untilthe Refrigeraloris revel.Removeitagain
from its location,
Connectthe gassupplytothemanualshut eftvalve
(DI3). Usea certifiedflexibletype metalconnect_ of
sufficientlength.
Connecta pressuregaugeat Iheplug{G5) etthe
conlrols,
Now checkthe operation:
Operatethe Refrigeratoraccordingtothe inslructions
(F6)and allowitto workforat least30 minu_es.
Duringthis period,checktheconnectionsfor leaks,from
thegasinlet totheorificespud,usingadetergentand
watersolution.
Check_e readingof Iha pressuregauge.Withno other
gasappl[ar_ceoperatingit shouldnot passt1" water
gauge.Withotherappliancesoperatingit shouldnotfail
berow10",
Checktheoperationof theflame-faireredeviceas
indicatedunder"reehnicalDescrip![on",ilem 6,3,
Witha mirror(17)beneaththefiamelube(14),make
sureIhattheflamecolorisb/ue.tt shouldnetreachthe
tipofthe baffle(t5), whichwillnormallybe slightly
aglow,
"rumoffthe gasatthe control(C3)leavingthemanual
shutoffvalve(Dr3) open.Replacetheptug(G5).
Replacethe burnerbox(O8).
Check weather the flame [s centered in relation
to the heater pipe (chimney).
If it is not, turn the product off and call a service
agency. Do not run the Refrigerator under this
circumstance. See detail in figure 1+

3. Controls
NI controlsare placedon theconsolelocatedat Ihe basis

deviceslocatedin the Re£igerator'sback.

4. Gas Installation
PlaceIhaselectorknob(C3)totheopenposition (C4)
bydepressingand thenturningit.
t Depress{C3)and hold itdepressedwhileactuatingthe
piezo-igniler(C5)a fewtimesoruntiltheflame lights
Whentryingto lightthe flame, presstheselector
valve buttonfor morethan 10seconds.
Gasmusl besuppliedby a 3/8"copperpipefreefrom
sharp-cornercurves,mountedontheconicalcoupling
connectedtothemanual shutoff valve.
Thisfeed-pipemuslbe placed soas toavoiddamage
whenthe Refrigeratoris removedfrom itscompartment.
WhenconneclingtheRefrigeratortothegassupplyuse
a pressurecontrolvalve inthepropanegasbotle.
Neverconnectthepropanegasbotlledirectytothe
Refrigerator.
Use propane gas only. As propane gas ]s
h{ghlyflammable, it isextremely important to
check the effective sealing of all joints, from
bottle to Refrigerator.
After instalration,the gas supply must be
turned on and all pipe joints checked for
leakage, from propane gas bottle to the burner,
using s water/soap solution. Never use flame
to test for gas leakage.
Note:Anyservicingofgas pipescanon_be performed
byan authorizeddealer.Shouldyoudelect anyirregular
gaspressureor ins'_lla_ion,contactyoudeareror an
anther;zealworkshop.Theownermustneverperformany
tasksthatrequirethe looseningof gaspipes.
5. Howto getthe bestoutofyour
Refrigerator
5,1 How to make it work (Fig, C)

WilhtheRefrigeratorcorrectlyinstalls&gassupply
connectedand manualshut offva,]veopen,thefollowing
mustbe doneto makeit work:
Turnthethermostatknob (C2)to thecoldestsetting
{C8).

* Hold(C3)itdepressedforanotherfive seconds.
Thenrelease,checkingthatflamestays on.
Iftheflame goesout,repeatthe procedure,orconsult
itemTrouble-shooting.
Nextday:setthe thermostatknobto the defrostposition
(C6)forat least fiveminutescheckingthatthe flame
doesnotgoout.
o SetthethermostatIowithinits normalrange(C7).
5.2 Absorption Refrigerators are different,..
The operationofan absorptionRefrigeratoris noiseless
and,therefore,onecannottellwhelhe_itis workingby
simplylislen[ngoWithinonehour,however,the bottomof
thefrozenfoodcompartmentshouldbeginto get cold.
Pulldowntooperatingtemperaturetakesfrom sixto
hvelvehau/s,dependingon roomtemperature,
WesuggestthattheRefrigeratorbe leftemptycrur]rtgthe
firstfew hoursofoperation.
Atselateror=,avoidpl_cingIonmuchfoodin the
Refrigeratorat onetime:
Storeperishablesfirst, leavingotherfoodstuffsforlater,
StorelargeramounlspreferablyinIhe evening,notmore
than t0 ]bs(5 kilos)ata time.

Refrigeralor,
Avoidkeepingthedoorsopenfor morethan isstrictly

Duringnormatoperalingconditions,thethermostat(C2)
shouldbeset withinthe segmentedrange{C10.On very
hotdays,orwhenthe Refrigeratoris beingused
frequently,sel the thermostattothe cotdeslpodion of
the range.

5,3 How to make ice
The Refrigeratoris suppliedwiththreepPaslicicetrays.
FIllthesewilhwaterto no nlorethanthebrimof the
intemaFseparators.Arrangethebaysonebesidetheolher
at thebottomofthefrozenfoodcompartment,
Alittlewaterspreadoverthe bottomwillimprovethermal
contactbetweenthetraysand theplate,
Ifyou s_artthefreezingin theevening,therewillbe3 lbs
(1,360grams)ofice availablethefollowingmorning,

5.4 Frozen food compartment
Inaddiliontomakingice,youcanalsoslerefrozenfood in

5.5. Defrosting
Aftera limeicewillbegintocollectonthefins ofthe
evaporator(Et), toa pointwhere itwi!lreducethe

needstobedefrostedperiodbatly.The intervalbetween
Iwodelre_tingoperatFenscanvary considerably:
from oneweektomerethana month,dependingon the
climateandtheexlent towhichthe Refrigeratoris used.
Werecommenddefrosl[ngwhenever50 per centof the
spacebetweenthefins is takenupbyice, Checkthe
upperportionolthe left handfins,wherethe iceis
inclinedtocelrectmorequickly.
Todefrostyou do nothaveto removefoodfrom the main
compartmentorfrom theFreezeJ',
Simplyset Ihethermostalknob(C2)tothe "defrost"
position(C6),and leaveitfor a coupteofhours,
The Refrigeratorwillcontinueto workona lowflame Io
provideref_geralionforthe Freezer.
The iceon thefinswill meltandrun througha d_ainIo
the rearofthe Refrigeralorandinlo a numberofsmall
container(D51whereitwillevaporale.

Never useknives or sharpoblectsto removethe
icelayer. Youmay causereakagein theammonia
system.
if theevaporatoris heavily loadedwith ice,
defrostingmast notbe doneasexplainedbefore,
sincethecapacityofthecontainer(D5) is limited
toaboutone quart(one ffter)_zndtheymight then
overflow.In this ease,follow theinstructionsgiven
below,
5.6 Shutting down the Refrigerator (Fig. E)
TheabsorplionRefrigerate(isbuilttoworkconlinuously
formanyyears,]-hereere nomovingpa_ andthusno
friction.At times,however,itneedstobeturnedoff:
=Whenitwillnotbe usedforsometime - forafew
weeksormere.
,*Whenthereisa largebuild-upoficeon theevaporator
orin thefrozenfoodstoragecompartment.
In suohcases,the following procedure isrecommended:
"Turn off Iha gas at the selector (C3) and remote aMthe
foodst_lfs,
Remove allthe toose componentsfrom the
Refrigerator, such as racks, drawers,etc.,
including the balteries for the lighting.

6.Technicaldescription
Beforegoingintothesubjeels of maintenanceand
koubleshootiag,we wouldliketoprovidea brief
descriptiononlhe fu_lional unitsofthegasequipment,
whichwillmakefor a better understandingofthese items.
6.1 The gas equipment (Fig. D)
The gasconnector(D14) isconnectedto a manualshut
offvalve (D13),normally"to be left open(handtein
alignmenlwithlhe gasflow).
Thevalve(D13)isconnectedto thecombinationcontrol
valve(seefollowingitem) bya union(D15).
If the Refrigeratoristo be remoeedfor maintenanceor the
like,closethevalve and uncoupletheunion.The valvewill
keepthe endoftheconnectorsealed,thus maintaining
thegassupplysystemoperational
ToreconnecttheRelr_gerator,simplyhook-uptheunion
again,openthe valveand usedetergentto checkfor
leaksat Eneunionandadjoining fittings.The unionshould
notbe overl[ghtened.Tighlenfirm_ withthehand and
thena larther10 or 20 degreeswithanopen-endwrench,
oruntilthereareno leaks.
6.2 Combination control valve (Fig. G)
Theconlrolhasseveralfunctions.Theinlet(G2) carries
a gumfiller Ioremovecedaincontaminantsfromthe
gas.Alterthelilter comesa se[eolorvalvewithits shaft
(G3) withtwo positions:openorclosed.Usethisto turn
off the Refrigerator,sinceit isnotenoughto turnthe
thermostat(G4)down!othewarmeslposition.
Togetherwiththeselectorcomesthe flame-failure
dark>e,connectedby(GT)tothelhermocouple(H1) at
theburner.II theflameshouldgooulfor anyreason, Ibis
willcutoff thegassupplywithinaboulforty seconds,
prevenlinglurther amountsof unbumtgasfrom
escaping.
To tightIha burner, it is necessary to keep the gas supply
open manually, by depressing (G3), until the flame
ignite& Within 3 to 4 seconds,the frame will heat the
thermocouple (H1) enough Io bold the gas passage
open.
6.3. Testing the flame-failure device (Fig. C)
ThedeviceisfaiPsafe:any malfunction,suchas poor
electdccontacl,etc.,willcauseitto close.Evenso, it
mustbe checkedlor properoperationwhenthe
Relffgeralorisfirstinstalledandthen periodicallylaleron
(seeunder" PeriodicMaintenance").Thefollczwingis to
be done',
a) Placethe Refrigeratorin operatlonwithIhethermostat
settothecoldestposilion.
b) CloseandthenimmediatelyopenIha selectorvalve
[c3),
Theflamewil_gooutbulthegassupplywillcontinueto
flow.
c) Listen carefully.In about 30 to 40 seconds youwill
hear a slight but very dislinct "c1_c_€'to signify that the
valve hasclosed.
6.4 The thermostatic valve and the bypass
(Fig. G)
Thetemperatureissensedviaa coppercapillarytube
(Gt) risingbehindtheRel_gerator(D3)andw_hthe tip
reachingintoa receplacleon Iheevaporator(El).
Thelemperatureo!the tipandthepositronoftheshaft
(G4) causethepassageotgas tothe bume_toopento a
greateror lesserextenl.Whenreinstallingthe capillary
tube altera repair,makesurethat itfits properlyintothe
_eceptacleandcaulkthe cutlet{D2)with sealing
compound,
Evenwhenthethem]esteLlavalveisclosed,a small
amountofgasstill p_ssesIhroughto keepthe flame
alightand IheFreezercompartmentoperating,
This gas ismeteredbyan orifice[nthe bypassscrew
(G6).Theorificeis nonadjustableandthescrew
indicatesthecapacity.

6,5 Pressure outlet
The plug(G5)canbe removedand replacedbya
pressureoultetcoupledto apressuregauge.
WiththeRefrigeratoroperatingandthe Ihennostat
adjustedto thecoldestsetting,the pressureshouldbe Ihe
sameasthe supplypressure,or 11inches(280ram)
watercolumn.

elementisfaullyand the combinationconlrelvalvemust
be replaced.
Turningthethermostatknoblo thewarmestsalting,you
shoutdsea lha pressuredroptothe rangebetween 1.if2

capillaryis3_F (0_C)orcolder).

6.6 The burner (Fig. H)
Thegaspassesthroughan or'dicedrilledby a high
precisionlaserbeamin a tinyplateof ruby(HS)lodgedat
