FOREWORD

We thank you for the conﬁ dence you

have placed in our company by choos-

ing an electric wheelchair from this

series.

The electric wheelchair can be adapt-

ed to your individual needs by way of

the equipment variants and the acces-

sories.

Like any other vehicle, an electric

wheelchair is a technical aid. It is sub-

ject to explanations, requires regular

care and can cause danger when used

improperly. The correct handling must

therefore be learned.

This manual is to help you get accus-

tomed to the handling of the Elec-

tronic wheelchair as well as to prevent

accidents.

Please note that the illustrated

equipment variants can deviate

from your model.

wheelchair together with their

parents respectively a supervisor or

attendant before ﬁ rst use.

ACCEPTANCE

All products are checked for faults

in the factory and packed in special

boxes.

☞ Note:

However, we request that you

check the vehicle for possible

transport damage immediately on

receipt – preferably in the presence

of the carrier.

☞ Note:

The packaging of the Electronic

wheelchair should be stored for a

further transport that might be-

come necessary.

ADJUSTMENT

The specialist workshop will hand out

the electronic wheelchair to you un-

der consideration of all relevant safety

instructions, ready for operation and

adjusted to your needs.

☞ Note:

The electrical adjustments are to

be set for drive mode so that a

safe operation of the vehicle is en-

sured.

☞ The tools required for adjustments

and maintenance is listed under

chapter < Technical Data >.

SPECIFICATIONS

The electronic wheelchair is an envi-

ronment-friendly electric vehicle. It

was developed to extend the mobility

of persons with health-related or age-

related restrictions.

☞ The model has been assigned the

'Use Class B' as per the EN12184

standard.

USE

The electronic wheelchair, with at-

tached leg supports and arm supports,

serves exclusively for the conveyance

of one sitting person. Other pulling or

transporting uses do not comply with

its intended purpose.

This model is a wheelchair which is in-

tended for use indoors and outdoors

on a ﬁ rm driving surface.

Before use on outdoor public routes

the electronic wheelchair is to be ﬁ t

with an optionally available lighting

jig.

Depending on the footplate height

adjustment it can cross obstacles with

a max. height of 6 cm.

Higher obstacles up to 11 cm high can

be crossed with a "step climber".

Mobile telephones should be

switched off during the use of the

electric vehicle. – A mobile tel-

ephone also transmits in stand-by

mode, i.e. during the periods be-

tween calls.

• Clean lighting is required for driv-

ing in public trafﬁ c!

• Extreme inclinations or slopes are

to be driven on with adequate ﬁ -

nal speed.

• The maximum obstacle height that

can be overcome may be restrict-

ed by the position of the leg sup-

ports.

• Do not throw or drop parts belong-

ing to the wheelchair!

– Detachable parts like e.g. operat-

ing module and leg supports have

to be used properly To guarantee

their function.

• Damages due to extreme operat-

ing- and storage temperature are

to be avoided!

STATUTORY REGULA-

TIONS

Please comply with the legal require-

ments of the country in which the

wheelchair is used.

Legal requirements for Ger-

many

☞

Remark:

A driving licence is not required for

electronic wheelchairs with a top

speed of 15 km/h.

☞ The minimum age for driving this

vehicle is 15 years. An exemption

certiﬁ cate for younger persons can

be applied for at the relevant ad-

ministrative authority.

☞ Public passages such as sidewalks

may be driven on at fair walking

speed.

☞ Vehicles starting at 6 km/h must be

ﬁ t at the back with a rear marking

plate according to ECE-R69.

Electronic wheelchairs up to 6 km/

h

A liability insurance is only mandatory

(in Germany) for an electronic wheel-

chair with a speed in excess of 6 km/h

but is nevertheless recommendable.

☞ Electronic vehicles such as scooters,

electronic wheelchairs, auxiliary

drives, electro-mobiles that achieve

a maximum speed of no more than

6 km/h are included in the private

liability insurance at no extra cost.

For this you only need to present

a formless application to your re-

sponsible insurance.

Electronic wheelchairs more than

6 km/h

Opposed to the model with a maxi-

mum speed of up to 6 km/h, the fol-

lowing is required of the model with

a maximum speed of up to 15 km/h

by the Straßenverkehrszulassungsor-

dnung (StVZO = German road trafﬁ c

permit regulations):

☞ A valid liability insurance.

☞ An operating licence of the vehicle

by the local vehicle admission of-

ﬁ ce.

☞ You must always have the vehicle

approval with you when driving on

public roads.

The operating permit certiﬁ cate of

conformity required for the admission

is enclosed with the electronic wheel-

chair.

Contact your insurance ofﬁ ce ﬁ rst.

There you will receive an insurance

licence plate (moped plate), which is

to be attached to the rear panel with

two screws.

The electronic wheelchair equipped in

such a fashion is then to be presented

to the local vehicle admission ofﬁ ce.

The vehicle registration centre will

check that the type approval report

conforms with the vehicle and then

stamp it.

The application of the operating per-

mit depends on the respective vehicle

admission ofﬁ ce.

In general it is sufﬁ cient to send the

operating permit certiﬁ cate of con-

formity to the local vehicle admission

ofﬁ ce to apply for the operating per-

mit.

The stamped operating permit is then

sent back.

A previous clarifying telephone con-

versation can save unnecessary er-

rands. Afterwards the vehicle may be

driven in public trafﬁ c according to

the road trafﬁ c regulations (Straßen-

verkehrsordnung (StVO resp. StVZO).

☞ Note:

All modiﬁ cations of the vehicle in-

validate the type approval.

CE regulations

☞

Note:

This vehicle corresponds to the re-

spective demands of the EC-direc-

tive 93/42 EWG.

However, the possibility of interfer-

ence from high-frequency radiation

from other electrical equipment can-

not be excluded.

High-frequency radiation exists in the

proximity of, for example, radar and

broadcasting stations, all types of ra-

dio sets and radio telephones. Should

the electronic wheelchair react uncon-

trollably in case of an error or other

electronic devices are disturbed by the

electronic wheelchair, Stop immedi-

ately and switch off the vehicle.

☞ Note:

The electronic wheelchair can dis-

turb highly sensitive, electromag-

netic ﬁ elds of other electronic

devices, as for example antitheft

devices in stores.

The connection of other electrical de-

vices can also cause malfunctions.

Attention:

Never drive the electronic wheel-

chair in the proximity of electronic

medical equipment with a high

danger potential and/or life-sup-

porting function or in the proxim-

ity of diagnostic equipment.

Driving

Drive especially carefully during your

ﬁ rst journey!

Bearing this in mind, set the pre-se-

lectable ﬁ nal speed to the lowest set-

ting.

You determine the speed and driv-

ing direction yourself when driving

through the movement of the joystick

and the maximum top speed setting

of your electronic wheelchair.

Safety informations

• Do not touch the ON/OFF but-

ton while driving. The electronic

wheelchair brakes with maximum

delay.

Bring the seat and back support into

their home positions before the start

of the journey.

• The attachment/detachment of ac-

cessories/components can alter the

driving behaviour.

Functional checks

Before each ride the vehicle is to be

checked for function and safety.

Attention:

The chassis, cables and the drive

batteries should be checked for

damage after a collision with an

obstacle. - With visual and / or audi-

ble damage immediately call upon

a specialist workshop for mainte-

nance.

Tips for accident prevention

If drive mode is switched off (brake

release lever in the < push > position)

the electronic wheelchair cannot be

operated and braked via the joystick.

– Danger of accidents!

☞ In this case swivel the selection le-

ver drive- / push mode into the <

drive > position.

Secure the electronic wheelchair

against unintentional wheelchair

movements

• Before maintenance as well as re-

assembly, settings and adjustments

on the electronic wheelchair push

the selection lever drive- / push

mode into the < drive > position

and switch off the operating mod-

ule! – Accident risk resulting from

inadvertent movement of the

wheelchair!

First driving exercises

A low maximum speed must be pre-

selected on the control unit for the in-

itial driving practice. Get accustomed

to the driving behaviour of the vehi-

cle step by step.

The vehicle may only then be driven

outside of your familiar surroundings

or on public paths when it is safely

mastered.

Driving in street trafﬁ c

The valid trafﬁ c regulations must be

observed and abided when participat-

ing in public trafﬁ c.

☞ Check the functioning of the light-

ing system before each journey.

☞ Carry out a brief braking and steer-

ing test at a – very low speed – af-

ter the initial movement.

☞ Approach and overcome obstacles

slowly and at a right angle ( 1).

Safety informations

• Do not press the ON/OFF key whilst

still in motion. Pressing the key will

then switch off the electric wheel-

chair and cause it to stop immedi-

ately.

• Observe for adjustable seat or re-

clining back support: A seat lifted

in the front or a reclined back sup-

port generally holds the danger of

tilting while driving.

• Before driving outdoors the seat

is to be brought into the basic set-

ting.

• Do not adjust the seat or back sup-

port angle on rising/falling gradi-

ents. – Danger of overturning!

• The attachment/detachment of

accessories/components alters the

driving behaviour.

• Tyres are made of a rubber mix-

ture and can leave permanent or

difﬁ cult-to-remove marks on some

surfaces (e.g. plastic, wooden or

parquet ﬂ ooring, carpets, mats).

• Curves and slopes are to driven on

with adequate speed.

• Danger of tilting while driving in

curves or when turning around. Es-

pecially on slopes and inclinations!

• Do not drive on higher inclinations

and slopes than noted in the tech-

nical data.

• Never drive with more than the

permitted maximum speed!

• Avoid impulsive changes to the

driving conditions on slopes and

obstacles.

• Temperature inﬂ uences through

lamps, sun or other sources of

warmth can damage the uphol-

stery parts, handgrips and panel-

ling or heat them up so much that

it may lead to scorching when they

come in contact with bare skin.

– Protect bare and heat sensitive

skin accordingly.

• Never expose the electronic wheel-

chair to extreme weather condi-

tions.

Decelerating/stopping the elec-

tronic wheelchair

!

Attention:

Braking the electronic wheelchair

when traveling downhill at high

speed can cause it to skid. – Danger

of accidents!

• When driving downhill forwards

there is a danger of falling over

when braking!

• Avoid tight curves and spontane-

ous braking actions on slopes, es-

pecially with critically set param-

eters (especially a high set delay

value). – Danger of overturning!

Drive-/push mode

The lever (1) for switching the drive

motors between the drive mode and

push mode is located on the right side

of the wheelchair.

!

Attention:

Push the wheelchair only for ma-

noeuvring or in emergency cases

but never on gradients.

The electric magnetic brakes are

switched off in the push mode. A

braking of the wheelchair is then

only possible by switching to the

drive mode. Therefore do not

switch to the push mode on gradi-

ents.

Selecting the push mode

1. Switch off the operating module

because the pushing will otherwise

be made difﬁ cult by the electric

system.

2. Pull the locking sleeve (3) up and

then push the selection lever to

the rear ( 2).

☞ The wheelchair can now be

pushed.

Selecting the motor mode

1. Push the selection lever to the front

(1) until it audibly latches.

2. Switching the operating module

on. The vehicle is now ready for

driving again.

Attention:

The functions and safety of the

electric wheelchair must be checked

before the start of each journey.

1. Charge the drive batteries via the

operating module before the ﬁ rst

journey.

2. Switch the drive motors to the

drive mode. Push the selection le-

ver to the front (1) until it audibly

latches.

☞ Note:

secure the wheelchair against un-

authorised use.
