TheMULTIUS25000is a primaryswitchmodebatterychargerwithpulsemaintenance.
TheMULTIUS25000isdesignedtooffermaximumlifeforthebattery.MULTIUS25000
is a memberof a familyofprofessionalchargersfromCTEKPowerInc.Itrepresentsthe
state-of-the-artoftoday’stechnologyforbatterycharging.Pleasereadtheseoperating
instructionscarefullybeforeoperatingtheMULTIUS25000.

8. Neveroperatethechargerifithasreceived a sharp blow, been droppedorother-
wisedamagedinanyway;takeitto a CTEKrepresentative.
9. Donotdisassemblecharger;takeitto a CTEKrepresentativewhenserviceorre-
pairisrequired.Incorrectreassemblymayresultin a riskofelectricalshockorre.
10. Toreduceriskofelectricshock,unplugchargerfromACoutletbeforeattempting

c) Wearcompleteeyeprotectionandclothingprotection.Avoidtouchingeyeswhile
workingnearbattery.
d) Ifbatteryacidcontactsskinorclothing,washimmediatelywithsoapandwater.
Ifacidenterseye,immediately floodeyewithrunning cold waterforatleast10
minutesandgetmedicalattentionimmediately.
e) NEVERsmokeorallow a sparkor flameinvicinityofbatteryorengine.
f) Beextracautioustoreduceriskofdropping a metaltoolontobattery.It mightspark
orshort-circuitbatteryorotherelectricalpartthatmaycauseexplosion.
g) Removepersonalmetalitemssuchasrings,bracelets,necklaces,andwatches
whenworkingwithlead-acidbattery. A lead-acidbatterycanproduce a short-cir-
cuitcurrenthighenoughto weld a ringortheliketometal,causing a severeburn.
h) Usechargerforcharging12VLEAD-ACIDbatteriesonly.Itisnotintendedtosup-
plypowerto a lowvoltageelectricalsystemotherthanin a starter-motorapplica-
tion.Donotusebatterychargerforchargingdry-cellbatteriesthatarecommonly
usedwithhomeappliances.These batteries mayburstandcauseinjurytopersons
anddamagetoproperty.
i) Nevercharge a frozenbattery.

13. PREPARINGTOCHARGE
a) Ifnecessarytoremovebatteryfromvehicletocharge,alwaysremovegrounded
terminalfrombattery first.Makesureall accessories inthevehicleareoff, so as
nottocauseanarc.
b) Besureareaaroundbatteryiswellventilatedwhilebatteryisbeingcharged.
c) Cleanbatteryterminals.Becarefultokeepcorrosionfromcomingincontact
witheyes.
d) Adddistilledwaterineachcelluntilbatteryacidreacheslevelspeciedbybat-
terymanufacturer.Donotoverll.For a batterywithoutremovablecellcaps,such
asvalveregulatedleadacidbatteries,carefullyfollowmanufacturersrecharging
instruction.
e) Studyallbatterymanufacturersspecic precautionswhilechargingandrecom-
mendedratesofcharge.
f) Determinevoltageofbatterybyreferringtocarownersmanualandmakesure
thattheoutputvoltageselectorswitchissetatcorrectvoltage.Ifchargerhas
adjustablechargerate,chargebatteryinitiallyat lowest rate.

e) Donotset a batteryontopofcharger.

g) Whendisconnectingcharger,turnswitchestooff,disconnectACcord,removeclip
fromvehiclechassis,andthenremoveclipfrombatteryterminal.

A SPARK NEAR BATTERY:
a) Checkpolarityofbatteryterminals.POSITIVE(POS,P,+)batterypostusuallyhas
a largerdiameterthanNEGATIVE(NEG,N,-)post.
b) Attachatleast a 24-inch-long6-gauge(AWG)insulatedbatterycableto
NEGATIVE(NEG,N,-)batterypost.
c) ConnectPOSITIVE(RED)chargercliptoPOSITIVE(POS,P,+)batteryofpost.
d) Positionyourselfandfreeendofcableasfarawayfrombatteryaspossible – then
connectNEGATIVE(BLACK)chargercliptofreeendofcable.
e) Donotfacethebatterywhenmakingthe finalconnection.
f) Whendisconnectingcharger,alwaysdo so inreversesequenceofconnecting
procedureandbreak firstconnectionwhileasfarawayfrombatteryaspractical.
g) Whendisconnectingcharger,disconnectinreversesequencefromconnecting
procedure. See operatinginstructionsforchargeinformation.
h) A marine(boat)batterymust be removedandchargedonshore.Tochargeiton
boardrequires equipment speciallydesignedformarineuse.
The battery charger must be connected to the battery according to
the instructions above.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION!
TheMULTIUS25000cannot be usedtorestore a fullywornoutbattery.
IftheMULTIUS25000doesnotswitchtomaintenancechargeafterthreedays(green
lightilluminated),thereis a fault.Possiblecauses:
•  Thebatteryisprobablywornoutandshould be replaced.
•  Somelargeantimony batteries maybehavedifferentandcanallowthe
MULTIUS25000tochargethebatteryfortoolong,whichcanleadtoovercharging.
See caution!
•  Ifheavypowerconsumerslike fittedalarmsand navigation computersareconnectedto
thebattery,thecharging process takeslongerandthiscanalsooverchargethebattery.
•  A sulphatedbatterywillonlyacceptcurrentwithdifculty,andconsequentlythecharg-
ingprocesstakes a particularlylongtime. A wornoutbatterycannot be fullycharged.
Thereforeyoushouldalwayscheckwhetherthechargerhas been switchedtomainte-
nancechargebeforeyouleaveitturnedonorunobservedforlongerperiods.

BATTERY TYPES AND SETTINGS
MULTIUS25000caneasily be setfordifferenttypesofbatteriesorconditions.Thefol-
lowingrecommendationsshould,however,only be seenasguidelines.Pleaseconsultthe
batterymanufacturerforfurtherinstructions.
SettingsaremadebypressingtheMODE-button”andsteppingforwardonepressat a 
timeuntiltherequiredmodeisreached,thebuttonisthenreleased.Afterabout 2 seconds
thechargeractivatestheselectedmode.Theselectedmodeissavedin a memoryinthe
chargerandremainsevenifthechargerisswitchedoff.
NORMAL
Mode 14.4V - Normalsettingforwetbatteries,Ca/Ca,maintenancefreeand
formost Gel batteries. Some Gel batteriesprefer a slightlylowercharging
voltage.Pleaseconsultthebatterymanufacturerwhenindoubt.
SUPPLY
Mode 13.6V / Supply - Thechargerisoperatingat a constantvoltageof
13.6V.Thisisthemaintenancemodeforapplicationswheremaximumca-
pacityfromthebatteryisimportant.NotethattheSparkprotectionfunction
issuppressedinthismode.
RECOND
Mode 15.7V / 3A / 0.54h - Thismodeisusedtorecoverdeeplydischarged
wet batteries whereyoucouldexpect a stratiedacid(highacidweightin
thebottom,lowontop).Thismodewillalsorecover some spiralcellAGM
batteries thathas been deepcycled.Checkwithbatterymanufacturerwhen
indoubt.
Notethatthebatteryhasto be fullycharged first.Usethismodewithcare,
becausethehighvoltagewillcause some waterloss.16Visnormallyno
problem forelectronics,butconsultyoursupplierwhenindoubt.Lifeoflight
bulbswill be reducedathighervoltage.Trytoavoidusing12Vlightfromthe
batteryduringthisphase.Maximumeffectandminimumriskforelectronics
isachievedbycharging a disconnectedbattery.
CHARGING
The battery charger must be connected to the battery according to
the instructions above.
Start charging
1. Connectthepowercordtothepoweroutlet.
2. SettheproperchargingmodebypushingtheModebuttonuntilthecorrectsetting.
Choosingsettingsforyourbatteryis described underBATTERYTYPESAND
SETTINGS”.

3. Thelampfordeeplydischargedbattery(1)willindicateifthebatteryvoltageis
low.Iflamp 1 blinks,thisindicatesthatthebatteryissulphated.Readmoreunder
”CHARGINGPHASES
4. Normalchargingisindicatedbythefollowinglamps:DeeplyDischarged(1),
BulkCharge(2),AbsorptionCharge(3)orMaintenanceCharging(4).Whenthe
maintenancelamp(4)islit,thebatteryisfullycharged.Thechargewillrestartifthe
voltagedrops.Thechargercan be connectedformonths.
SUPPLYorRECONDareindicatedwhenthelampsforthesesettingsarelit(5or6).
5. Ifthebatterycablesareconnectedincorrectly,thereversepolarityprotectionwill
makesurethatneitherthechargernorthebatteryaredamaged.Inthiscase,thered
warninglamp(0)will be lit.
6. Ifthesettinglampislitbutnootherlight comes on,theconnectiontothebatteryorto
thechassismay be poor,orthebatterymay be faulty.Startbyimprovingthecontact
between thebatteryandthecharger.
7. Chargingcan be interruptedatanytimebydisconnectingthepowercordfromthewall
socket orswitchingto"Standby"mode(lampA)bypushingthemodebutton.Always
disconnectthepowercordfromthe socket beforeremovingthebatterycables.When
youinterruptchargingof a batterymountedin a vehicle,alwaysdisconnectthebattery
cablefromthechassisbeforeremovingtheotherbatterycable.

Desulphation (Lamp 1, blinking)
Desulphationwithpulsingforsulphated batteries. Indicatedbyblinkinglamp1.
Soft Start (Lamp 1)
Thesoftstartcontinuesuntilthebattery’sterminalvoltagehasrisenover a presetlevel.
Atthispoint,charginggoesintothebulkstep.Iftheterminalvoltagehasnotreachedthe
presetlevelwithin 4 hours,chargingissuspended.Theerrormodeisindicated.Thisindi-
cates a batterywhichisfaultyorhastoolargecapacity.If a largebatteryischargedthat
has been severelydischarged,itmay be necessarytorestartthechargerafter 4 hours.
Startisindicatedbylamp1.
Bulk (Lamp 2)
Primarychargingwhereapproximately80%ofthecapacityisrestored.Thechargerdeliv-
ersmaximumcurrentuntiltheterminalvoltagehasrisentothepresetlevel.Thestepis
timelimited.Thechargergoesontothenextstepafter a numberofhoursevenifmaxi-
mumvoltageisnotreached.Bulkisindicatedbylamp2.
Absorption (Lamp 3)
Finalcharging,voltageiskeptatthepresetlevel.Duringthisphase,thecurrentisgradu-
allyreduced.IfthemaximumlengthoftimeforAbsorptionisexceeded,thecharger
automaticallycontinueswithAnalysis.Absorptionisindicatedbylamp3.
Analysis (Lamp 3)
Chargingissuspendedfor a shortperiodandthebatteryvoltagemeasured.Ifitfallstoo
quickly,thebatteryis probably faulty.Chargingissuspendedandanerrorisindicated
(lamp0).
Maintenance charging - oat (Lamp 4)
Duringthe first10daysofmaintenancechargingthebatteryismaintainedwithconstant
voltage,13.6V.Float-maintenanceisindicatedbylamp4.
Maintenance charging - pulse (Lamp 4)
Thestateofchargevaries between 95%and100%.Thebatteryreceives a pulsewhen
thevoltagesinks,keepingthebatteryingoodshapewhenitisnotbeingused.Thechar-
gercan be connectedformonthsat a time.Pulse - maintenanceisindicatedbylamp4.

Ifthebatteryischargedand/orthebattery’sterminalvoltagedrops,thechargerstarts a 
chargepulseuntilthevoltagehasreachedthepresetlevel,14.4V.Thechargepulseis
theninterruptedandthecycleisrepeatedaslongasthechargerisinpulsemaintenance
phase.Iftheterminalvoltagedropsevenlower,thechargerautomaticallyrevertstothe
beginningofthechargingcurve.Pulsemaintenancephaseisindicatedbylamp4.Ifpos-
sible,checkthewaterlevelinthebattery.
Chosen mode: ”SUPPLY”
MULTIUS25000has a Supplymodewhichgives a constantvoltageof13.6Vandcur-
rentupto25A.Thismodecanalso be usedformaintenancechargingofanalreadyfully
chargedbattery(Floatmaintenance).Thiskeepsthebatteryat100%charge.Thecon-
stantsmalloverchargecancausewaterloss. A batterydoesnothaveto be connectedfor
thechargertodelivervoltage.ThesparkprotectionisnotactiveinSupplymode.Itisnot
recomendedtocharge a completelydischargedbatteryinSupplymode,sincethiswillnot
resultin a completelychargedbattery.Inthismode,MULTIUS25000canalso be used
as a powergenerationunitforoperating equipment that requires 13.6Vand a maximumof
25A.Iftheselectedcurrentexceeds25A,theoutputvoltagewilldropastheloadincreas-
es.Thechargerhaselectronicoverloadprotectioninthismode,whichisactivatedifthe
chargeis so greatthattheoutputvoltagefromthechargerfalls below around9Vandthe
currentisaround25A.Intheeventofanoverload,thechargergoesintoerrormode

Chosen mode: ”RECOND”
MULTIUS25000has a Recondmodewhichisusedtorecondition a batterythathas
been severelydischarged.Thebatteryis firstchargedusingthemode NORMAL”.When
theanalysisphaseiscomplete,thechargerbeginsreconditioningthebatterybyproviding
a constantcurrentof3Aand a maximumvoltageof15.7V.After0.54hours,thebattery
iscompletelyreconditionedandthechargergoesintopulsemaintenance.Thebatteryis
readyto be used,orstoreitwithpulsemaintenanceactiveuntilyouarereadytousethe
battery.Recondisindicatedbylamp E andlamp6.NotethattheRecondstepbeginswith
normalchargingandthatthechargerthereforewillindicatethechargingstepsaccording
tothedescriptionsabove first.Lamp 6 is firstlitwhenthereconditioningbegins.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION
TheMULTIUS25000isequippedwithoverheatingprotection.Inhighambienttempera-
turestheoutputpowerisreduced.Donotcoverthecharger.
BATTERY CABLES
MULTIUS25000isequippedwith a setofbattery cables withbatteryterminalclips.Do
notshortenthebattery cables.
TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION
MULTIUS25000has a sensorcableplacedtogetherwiththebattery cables. Theunitwill
automaticallyadjustthechargingvoltageifthetemperature deviates from+77°F. A high
temperaturelowersthevoltageandfreezingconditionsishandledbyhighervoltage.
Thetemperatureisbestmeasuredonorveryclosetothebattery.Thereforealwaysplace
thesensorasclosetothebatteryaspossiblewhencharging.Thesensorcablecould be 
prolongedorcuttolengthwiththesamefunctionality. A short-circuitedordisconnected
sensorisindicatedbylampA.Thechargingvoltagewillthen be 14.4V.
MAINTENANCE
TheMULTIUS25000ismaintenance-free.Thechargermustnot be opened;doing so 
willinvalidatethewarranty.Ifthepowercableisdamageditmust be replacedbyCTEKor
itsauthorizedrepresentative.Thechargercasingcan be cleanedusing a dampclothand
mildcleaningagent.Removetheplugfromthepower socket beforecleaning.

gamadecargadoresprofesionalesdeCTEKPowerInc y es lo másavanzadoentecno-
logíadecargadoresdebaterías.Leaatentamenteestasinstruccionesdeusoantesde
utilizar el MULTIUS25000.

1.
CONSERVEESTASINSTRUCCIONES– Este
manualcontieneimportantesinstruccionesdeseguridad y funcionamientoparalos
cargadoresdebaterías modelo 1041.
2. Durantelacargadelasbateríaspodríandespedirsegasesexplosivos.Por ello es
esencialevitarllamas y chispas.Estecargadorestádiseñadoparacargarbaterías
deplomode12Ventre50 y 500Ah.No lo utiliceparaningúnotropropósito.No
exponer a lalluviani a lanieve.
3. Durantelacarga,dispongasiempredeunabuenaventilación.
4. Elusodeaccesoriosnorecomendados o suministradospor el fabricantedeeste
cargadordebateríaspodríaproducirincendios,acomolesiones o descargas
eléctricas a laspersonas.
5. Parareducir el riesgo dedañosen el conectoreléctrico y el cablealdesconectar
el cargador,tiredelenchufe,nuncadelcable.
6. A menosqueseaabsolutamentenecesario,nuncautiliceuncabledeprolonga-
ción. Elusodeuncabledeprolongacióninadecuadopodríaproducirincendios y 
descargaseléctricas.Sinecesitautilizaruncabledeprolongación,asegúresede
que:a)Laspatillasdelaclavijadelcabledeprolongaciónsondelmismonúmero,
tamaño y formaquelasdelaclavijadelcargador;b)Elcabledeprolongaciónestá
correctamenteconectado y enbuenascondicioneseléctricas; y c)Elcalibredelos
cables es sucientementegruesoparalacorrientealternanominaldelcargador,
segúnseespecicaenDatostécnicos”.
7. Noutilice el cargadorsilaclavija o el cableestándañados;devuelva el cargadoral
lugardecompra.
8. Nuncautilice el cargadorsiharecibidoungolpefuerte,sehadejadocaer o está
dañadodealgúnmodo; llévelo a unrepresentanteautorizadodeCTEK.

9. Nodesmonte el cargador;cuando requiera mantenimiento, llévelo a unrepresen-
tanteautorizadodeCTEK.Unreensamblajeincorrectopodríaproducirdescargas
eléctricas o unincendio.
10. Parareducir el riesgo dedescargaseléctricas,desenchufe el cargadordelenchufe
deCAantesderealizarcualquiertareademantenimiento o limpieza.Sisolamente
apagalosmandosdecontrol,nosereducirá el riesgo.

b) Parareducir el riesgo deexplosióndelasbaterías,sigalasinstruccionespublica-
dasporlosfabricantesdelasbaterías y losequiposquesevayan a utilizarcerca
delasbaterías.Reviselasmarcasdeadvertenciadeesosproductos y delmotor.
12.
PRECAUCIONESPERSONALES
a) Cuandotrabajejunto a bateríasdeplomo,compruebequetienecerca a alguna
personaquepudieraayudarle.
b) Tengadisponiblesucientecantidaddeaguadulce y jabónparausarlosencaso
deque el ácidodelabateríaentraseencontactoconla piel, losojos o laropa.
c) Lleveentodomomentoproteccióncompletaparalosojos y lasropas.Evitetocar-
selosojosmientrastrabajacercadeunabatería.
d) Si el ácidodelabateríaentraseencontactoconla piel o lasropas,lávelas
inmediatamenteconabundanteagua y jabón.Sientraácidoenlosojos, lávelos 
inmediatamenteconabundanteaguacorrientedurantealmenos10minutos y pida
atencnmédicainmediata.
e) NUNCAfumenipermitaqueseproduzcanchispasnillamascercadela
batería o el motor.

f) Pongalamáximaprecauciónparareducir el riesgodedejarcaerherramientas me-
tálicasdentrodelabatería.Sepodríanproducirchispas o sepodríacortocircuitar
labatería u otroscomponenteseléctricoscapacesdeprovocarunaexplosión.
g) Cuandotrabajeconbateríasdeplomo,despréndasedeobjetosmetálicosper-
sonalescomoanillos,pulseras,collares y relojes.Unabateríadeplomopodría
producirunacorrientedecortocircuitosucientementeelevadaparafundiranillos
u objetosmetálicossimilares,ocasionandoquemadurasgraves.
h) UtiliceestecargadorparacargarúnicamentebateríasdePLOMOde12V.No
utiliceestecargadordebateríasparacargarpilassecasdeltipoutilizadoenlos
aparatosdomésticos.Esetipodepilaspodríanexplotar y causarlesiones a las
personas y dañarlosobjetos.
i) Nuncacargueunabateríacongelada.
13.
PREPARACIÓNDELACARGA
a) Sifueranecesarioretirarlabateríadeunvehículoparacargarla,siemprequite
primero el terminaldetierradelabatería.Paraevitarchispas,asegúresedeque
todoslosaccesoriosdelvehículoesténapagados.
b) Mientrassecargalabatería,asegúresedequelosalrededoresesténbien
ventilados.
c) Limpielosterminalesdelabatería.Pongaextremocuidadoparaevitarquela
corrosiónentreencontactoconsusojos.
d) Agregueaguadestilada a cada celda hastaque el ácidodelabateríaalcance el 
nivelespecicadopor el fabricantedelamisma.Norelleneenexceso.En el caso
debateríassintaponesde celda extraíbles, comolasbateríasdeplomoreguladas
porválvula,sigaconcuidadolasinstruccionesderecargadelfabricante.
e) Estudietodaslasprecaucionesespecícasdelfabricante a lahorarecargar,así
comolosvaloresdecargarecomendados.
f) Determinelatensióndelabateríaconsultando el manualdelusuariodelautomóvil
y asegúresedeque el selectordetensióndesalidaestéajustado a latensiónco-
rrecta.Si el cargadortienerégimendecargaajustable,inicielacargadelabatería
utilizando el valorinferior.
14.
UBICACIÓNDELCARGADOR
a) Coloque el cargadortanalejadodelabateríacomo lo permitanloscablesdeCC.
b) Nuncacoloque el cargadordirectamentesobrelabateríaqueestácargando;los
gasesdelabateríapodríancorroer y estropear el cargador.
c) Nuncapermitaquegotee el ácidodelabateríamientraslee el peso especodel
electrólito o rellenalabatería.
