Introduction
This guide provides procedures for disassembly and assembly necessary for the maintenance
of Omron’s EM2100 Appliance and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
The qualification of the worker
The worker should have received proper training and have the ability to implement the work
safely. The worker should be familiar with working on electronic equipment and use proper
electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures. Make sure to read and understand this Service Guide
before starting any work. Omron recommends reading and understanding the following manuals
in addition to this Service Guide:

01. Replacing Dongles in the EM2100
Use the following procedure to remove and replace either the EM2100 FLOW License Dongle or the EM2100 Legacy
License Dongle in the EM2100. The EM2100 FLOW License Dongle uses a battery that has a lifespan of
approximately 5 years. Therefore, it is recommended to change the battery every 4 years. Contact the license
administrator to find out how old a dongle is.
CAUTION: ESD DAMAGE RISK. Protect the appliance from damage caused by electrostatic
discharge (ESD). Wear a grounded wrist or shoe strap whenever removing top cover from the
EM2100.

Identify
Dongle ID
In SetNetGo (SNG) go to the license tab. Record the EM2100 FLOW License ID Number.
Include this number when sending C2V to license administrator. Note: This step is only
necessary when replacing the EM2100 FLOW License Dongle

Turn off
EM2100 and
remove
power
Turn off the power on the front panel using the Soft Shutdown procedure specified in the
EM2100 Installation Manual. Turn off the power on the back panel. Unplug power.

Remove from
rack
If installed in a rack, remove the EM2100 appliance from the rack. To do this pull the EM2100
forward until it is fully extended from track. Press the locking bottons on the side of the rail
and continue to pull until the EM2100 comes out rack. See the EM2100 Installation Guide for
more information.

Set the EM2100 appliance on an ESD protected workspace and follow standard ESD
grounding procedures prior to opening the unit. Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove
the eight screws circled in red on the top of the EM2100. Slide the top back until it stops, lift
and remove the cover. Place cover upright to avoid scratching the top.
CAUTION: Wear an ESD strap

power up unit
Replace the top panel, install the retaining screws and return the EM2100 to the rack. Plug in
power supply cable. Set power switch on back panel to the On position and then set power
switch on front panel to the On position.

Enable
entitlement
If replacing EM2100 FLOW License Dongle, follow the procedure in the FLOW CORE
Users Guide section 7.6(Licensing Tab) for enabling entitlement. If only the EM2100 Legacy
License Dongle was replaced no further steps are required.

02. Replacing Dongles in AMRs
Use the following procedure to replace the AMR Legacy License Dongle or the AMR FLOW License Dongle in an
AMR. Installation is the reversal of removal.

5. Replacing Dongles in AMRs

Download
Debug info and
check for
installed
advanced
features
Follow the procedure in the LD service manual (18745-000) section 1-1 (Download the file)
and section 1-2 (Download the Debug info file). This will backup the system in case of
AMR core failure. In SNG, under the Licensing tab, check if there are any advanced
feature packs installed. If there are any advanced feature packs record the License # to be
sent along with the C2V file.

Remove the LD
core
Follow steps 1-8 in LD service manual (18745-000) section 2-2-1. Replacing the LD core

Install dongle
Remove failed dongle and install new dongle/s.
Note: Position of dongles is not important.

Enable
entitlement
If installing advanced feature software follow the procedure in the FLOW CORE Users
Guide section 7.6(Licensing Tab) for enabling entitlement.

5. Replacing a failed EM2100

Remove dongles
from the failed
EM2100
Following the procedure: Replacing Dongles in an EM2100 (pg. 3), remove the
EM2100 FLOW License Dongle and the EM2100 Legacy License Dongle from the
failed EM2100.Install the dongles into the new EM2100. The Licensening Dongles are
swapped so that entitlements dont need to be re-enabled.

Configure
EM2100
In SNG go to the systems tab. Switch Unconfigured to the desired configuration in the pull-
down menu.

Use the following procedure to replace a failed EM1100. Note: The replacement for an EM1100 is an EM2100.

5. Replacing a failed EM1100

Remove EM1100
from rack
If installed in a rack, remove the EM1100 from the rack. To do this pull the EM1100 until it is
fully extended from the track. Press the locking bottons on the side of the rail and continue to
pull until EM comes out of the rack. Remove the rails from the EM1100 and install on the
EM2100. See the EM2100 installation guide for how to install the EM2100 into the rack. Note:
The EM2100 is 3.4 inches longer, however, in most instances identical mounting can be used.

Configure EM2100
Follow the procedure in the FLOW Core Users Guide for setting up EM2100

Downgrade Moblile
Software Suite to

If the fleet is running a version of Mobile Software Suite (MSS) 4.X, follow the procedure in
the FLOW Migration Guide for downgrading from FLOW Core to the MSS version the fleet
is using. Note: This step is only necessary if you are downgrading from FLOW Core to a
version of MSS 4.X.
