XProtect®.DatatransferredfromtheAxisbodywornsystemincludesvideo,audio,searchablelocation,categories,andnotes.
Howdoesitwork?
TheAxisbodywornsolutionconsistsofatleastoneAxisbodyworncamera,anAxisdockingstation,anAxissystemcontroller,and
acontentdestination,inthiscaseMilestoneXProtect®.AXISBodyWornManageristhewebapplicationthatletsyoucongure
andmanageyourbodywornsystem.
WhenyouaddanewuserintheAxisbodywornsystem,anewhardware,correspondingtothenewuser,iscreatedinXProtect®.Each
userinthebodywornsystemusesonelicenseinXProtect®.
WhenyouplacetheAxisbodyworncamerainthedockingstation,therecordingtransfersstartautomatically.Ittakesawhile
beforetherecordingscanbeviewedintheXProtect®SmartClient.YoucanmonitorthestatusoftheletransfersinAXISBody
WornManager.
Thebeginningofeachrecordinghasabookmark.Thebookmark,showninXProtect®,containsthefollowinginformation:
•cameraname
•activationmethod,forexampleiftherecordingwasstartedusingthebuttonorbyfalldetection
•anylocationdata
•anyannotationsfromthecategoryandnotescreatedinAXISBodyWornAssistant

•TheXProtectRecordingServicewillrestartduringinstallation.

3.Selectsystemmode.SeeSystemmodesonpage2.Changingthesystemmodeatalatertimerequiresafullsystemreset.
4.EntertheaddressfortheMilestoneXProtect®ManagementServer.
5.EntertheMilestoneXProtect®administratoraccountcredentials.

WerecommendthatyouloginusingaseparateXProtect®administratoraccountwhensettinguptheconnectionwith
theAxisbodywornsystem.

7.SelectaCerticateinstalledonyourmachine.Alternatively,clickCreateaself-signedcerticatetocreateone,and
thenselectit.
Note
•YouneedtosetupaservercerticatetosecurethecommunicationwiththeAxisbodywornsystem.Theselectedcerticate
mustcontainaSAN(SubjectAlternateName)eld,includingaDNSnameorIPaddressthatidentiestherecordingserver.
•Ifyou'reusingWindowsServer2012R2youneedtomanuallycreatethecerticate.

•TheconnectionlecontainsinformationthatenablesdatatobepushedtoyourMilestoneXProtect®system.Werecommend
storingtheconnectionleinasecurelocation.Alternatively,deletetheconnectionlepermanentlyaftersettingupthe
connectionbetweentheAxisbodywornsystemandMilestoneXProtect®.
•TomaintainastableconnectionbetweentheAxisbodywornsystemandMilestoneXProtect®,werecommendusinga
DNSnamefortheMilestoneXProtect®RecordingServer.

1.AccesstheAxisbodywornsystemusingawebbrowser.
2.Followtheinstructionsinthesetupwizard.
3.IntheContentdestinationstep,uploadtheconnectionlethatwasgeneratedbyAXISOptimizerBodyWornExtension.
FormorehelpaboutsettingupandusingtheAxisbodywornsystem,gotoAxisbodywornsolutionhelpcenter.
Retentiontime
ChangetheretentiontimeinMilestoneXProtect®
Toavoidlosingrecordings,werecommendchangingtheretentiontimeinXProtect®toahighervalue.
Usingthedefaultretentiontimeof7dayscausesallrecordingsolderthan7daystobepermanentlydeletedwhenuploadedfrom
thebodyworncameratoXProtect®.
Controlretentiontimewithcategories
YoucanaddacategoryforavideoinAXISBodyWornAssistant(mobileapplicationforrecordingcategorizationandannotation).
InAXISOptimizerBodyWornExtension,youcanspecifyaretentiontimeforacategory.ThisgeneratesanEvidenceLockforthe
categoryinMilestoneXProtect®SmartClient.
Tosettheretentiontimeforacategory:
1.Right-clicktheapplicationiconinthetaskbar.
2.SelectSettings.
3.EnteraRetentiontime(days)foranyoftheexistingcategories,or
4.Click+toaddanewcategory,chooseacategoryfromthedrop-down,andenteraRetentiontime(days)fortheadded
category.
Note
•Retentiontimeisthetimefromwhentherecordingwascreateduntilitisautomaticallydeleted.
•TheretentiontimesetinAXISOptimizerBodyWornExtensionguaranteesaminimumretentiontime.Itmaybelongerifset
toahighervalueinthestoragecongurationfortherecordingserverordeviceinXProtect®.
•IfyouleaveRetentiontime(days)setto<default>,anEvidenceLockisnotcreated.
•TheretentiontimesettingrequiresEvidencelocksupport,whichisonlysupportedonXProtect®CorporateandSiveillance®
VideoPro.Thesettingisnotavailableforanyotherproduct.

Removeauserfromthesystem
1.RemovetheuserinAXISBodyWornManager.
Note
TheuserdeviceisdisabledinXProtect,andthechannellicenseisreleased.It’snolongerpossibletoviewrecordingsby
theuser,buttherecordingsarestillintact.Toaccessthem,enablethedevice.
2.DeletethedeviceinXProtect®whenyounolongerneedtherecordingsmadebytheuser.
Important
NeverremoveanenableddeviceinXProtect®.AlwaysremoveitfromAXISBodyWornManagerrst.
Createanewself-signedcerticate
Tocreateanewself-signedcerticate:
1.Right-clicktheapplicationiconinthetaskbar.
2.SelectOpenconnectionsetup.
3.Onthecurrentcerticate,click✖toresetthecerticatebinding.
4.ClickRemovecurrentself-signedcerticate.
5.ClickCreateanewself-signedcerticate.
