Introduction
This guide provides general configuration examples. The configurations found here may not be applicable for all
environments. Consult Lenovo’s official documentation for further information in regards to your environment's
unique configuration.
Requirements
A Terminal Emulation program, such as PuTTY.
(Optional) USB cable.
Connect to the Switch
Over the Network
By default, the management interface is set to request a DHCP address. If DHCP is available, check your leases on
your DHCP server to determine the IP address of the switch. Using an SSH client, you may log in to the switch over
the network. The default username is admin, and the default password is admin.

Setup the Switch for Remote Access
Configure the IP Information
1. Login to the switch using either option in the Connect to the Switch section above.
2. Run the commands below to configure the settings for remote access. The interface you select will depend
on how you've connected to the switch.
enable
configure device
interface <management|ethernet> <1/1>
no bridge-port
ip address <IP|DHCP>
exit
NOTE
The interface you select will depend on how you have connected to the switch (management or
ethernet).
no bridge-port is strongly recommended if you plan to use DHCP on an ethernet port.
3. You can see an output of the assigned configuration, including the IP information is using DHCP, using the
below command.
display ip interface brief
Use SSH to Access the Switch
Use the below command to SSH into the switch for access:
ssh admin@<IP>

configure device
username admin password <PASSWORD>
Create New Users
display user-accounts
configure device
username <USERNAME> password <PASSWORD>
username <USERNAME> role <network-admin|network-operator>

Configure the Switch
Configure the Ports
1. Login to the switch.
2. Run the commands below to configure the port settings for the switch. The interface you select will depend
on how you've connected to the switch.
enable
configure device
interface <management|ethernet> <1/1>
no bridge-port
ip address <IP|DHCP>
flow control <sent|receive> <on|off>
exit
Create a VLAN
1. Login to the switch.
2. Run the commands below to create the switch VLAN(s).
enable
configure device
vlan <ID NUMBER>
Add VLAN(s) to Switch Ports
1. Login to the switch.
2. Run the commands below to add the VLAN(s) to specific switch ports.
enable
configure device
interface ethernet <PORT NUMBER(S)>
bridge-port mode access
bridge-port access vlan <VLAN ID NUMBER>
exit
3. You can verify the VLAN port assignment with the below command.
display vlan
