Press and hold SET button for two seconds.
DST, the point in the middle and the symbol for the time zone (+ above on the right side) are flashing.
Press + or - button to adjust the time zone. The time zone (+3/-3) setting is needed for countries where the DCF sig-
nal can be received but the time zone is different from the DCF time (e.g. +1=one hour later).
Confirm the setting with the SET button.
The day-of-week language flashes.
Adjust the desired day-of-week language with the + or - button: English (EN), German (GE), French (FR), Italian (IT),
Spanish (SP) Dutch (NE) and Russian (RU).
Press SET button and setting sequence is shown as follows: Year, the date with day of the week and the time. Press
+ or – button to adjust the settings. When the hours system and °C/°F flash, it is possible to select the temperature
unit with the – button and the hours system with the + button. In the 12 hours system PM appears on the display
after 12 h.
The manually set time will be overwritten (slide the ON/OFF switch to ON) by the DCF time when the signal is
received successfully.
10. Display
You can choose between different indications of the display by using the sensor key.
For a manually display change cover for one second the sensor key with your finger. The display changes now
through the single indications.
You can now select which display you would like to have.
Attention: The display will only change when the sensor key is uncovered again.
To activate (or deactivate) the automatical display change, cover the motion sensor for four seconds with the fin-
ger. The symbol >>> on the display shows, that it will change automatically.
Attention: The motion sensor is only active if the room is well illuminated. Short-term fluctuations of the light con-
ditions (light-dark cycle) on site may trigger unwanted display changes.

When the temperature appears on the display, press the °C/°F button with a pin to change between °C (Celsius) or
°F (Fahrenheit) as temperature unit.

6. Getting started
Pull off the protection foil on the display.
Slide the ON/OFF switch to ON.
Open the battery compartment and insert four batteries 1,5 V AA.
Make sure the polarities are correct.
Close the battery compartment again.
All LCD segments will light up for about a few seconds.
During the reception is a button operation not possible.
The clock will now scan the DCF frequency signal and the DCF symbol flashes on the LCD. When the time code is
received successfully after 10-15 minutes, the radio-controlled time is displayed and the DCF symbol is displayed
steadily in the LCD.
If there is no reception possible, scanning repeats again every hour.
Manual initialization can be helpful. Press SET button. The DCF symbol flashes. Press the SET button again to stop
the reception. The DCF symbol disappears.
If you want that your clock is working like a normal Quartz clock, slide the ON/OFF switch to OFF. The DCF recep-
tion is shut down.
There are 3 different reception icons:
flashing - reception is active
stays - reception is very good
transmission tower - no DCF reception
If the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (for example due to disturbances, transmitting distance, etc.), the time
can be set manually.
The DCF symbol disappears and the clock will then work as a normal quartz clock. (see: Manual setting of clock and
calendar).
7. Radio-controlled time reception
The time base for the radio-controlled time is a caesium atomic clock operated by the Physikalisch Technische Bundes-
anstalt Braunschweig. It has a time deviation of less than one second in one million years. The time is coded and trans-
mitted from Mainflingen near Frankfurt via frequency signal DCF-77 (77.5 kHz) and has a transmitting range of approx-
imately 1,500 km. Changeover from summer time or winter time are automatic. In Daylight Saving Time DST is shown
on the LCD. The quality of the reception depends mainly on the geographic location. Normally there should be no
reception problems within a 1,500 km radius around Frankfurt.
Please take note of the following:
Recommended distance to any interfering sources like computer monitors or TV sets is at least 1.5 - 2 metres.
Inside ferro-concrete rooms (basements, superstructures), the received signal is naturally weakened. In extreme
cases, please place the unit close to a window to improve the reception.
During nighttime, the atmospheric interference is usually less severe and reception is possible in most cases. A sin-
gle daily reception is adequate to keep the accuracy deviation below 1 second. The DCF reception always takes
place during midnight.
