For one year from the date of purchase, when this Craftsman High Pressure Washer is maintained
and operated according to the instructions in the owner's manual, Sears will repair, free of charge,
any defect in material and workmanship.
Ifyour Craftsman PressureWasher isusedfor eommerieal or rental purposes, this warranty
applies only for 90 days from the date of purchase. If this washer isused for rented purposes this
warraty applies for only 30 days from the date of purchase.
FULL TWO YEAR WARRANTY ON CRAFTSMAN ENGINE
For two years from the date of purchase, when thisCraftsman engine is maintained and operated
according to the instructions in the owner's manual, Sears will repair, free of charge, any defect in
material and workmanship.
Ifyour Craftsman engine is used for commericalor rental purposes, this warranty applies only for
one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover expendable items such as spark
plugs and air filters, which become worn during normal use.
Repairs necessary because of operator abuse or negligence, including damage resulting from no
water being supplied to pump or failure to maintain the equipment according to the instructions
contained in the owner's manual, are not covered under warranty.

NEAREST SEARS SERVICE CENTER THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. This warranty gives you

The powerful sprayfrom your pressure washer iscapable of causingdamage to fragile surfaces suchas:wood, glass,
automobile paint, auto strippingand trim, and delicate objects such asflowers and shrubs. Before spraying, check the
item to be cleaned to assureyourself that it is robust enough to resist damage from the force of the spray. Avoid the
use of the concentrated spray stream except for very strongsurfaceslike concrete and steel.
Operating unit with water supplyshut offwithout flowof water willresult inequipment damage. You shouldnever run
this pressure washer for more than 2 minutes without pulling the tdgger to allow cool water to enter the pump and the
heated (recirculated) water to exit. Running the pressure washer with water supply shut off will void your warranty.

Tools Required for Assembly

Remove Pressure Washer from Carton
Open cartonfrom thetop. Locate and removefrom
box the handle, gun, wand, videotape, and oil.
Cut cartonalong doffed lines.
Remove all carton inserts.
Roll unitthroughopening incarton.
NOTE: The hose is locatedat the bottom ofthe box.
Preparing the Pressure Washer for First Use
Note: Included with yourpressure washer is a video
cassette tape on how to prepare yourunitfor
operation. Itisrecommended you viewthis tape
beforeperformingthe nextsteps.
1. Inserthandle ontoframe.
Insert knobs into the threaded slot in front of the
frame handle and tighten by turning in a clock-
wise direction.
Slide bolts into the slot in the side of the frame
handle and tighten the nut by turning in a clock-
wise direction.
Insert bolt and
tighten lock nut,

2. Usingan adjustable wrench, remove nut from
bolt that attaches board to frame. Removewood
plank from the frame of the unit. Discard bolt and
board.
, Mountthe rubberisolator to theframe. To
mountisolatorplace threaded end of bolt
throughthewasher.
Nextwith washeron boltplace threaded end of
boltthroughthe largerholein bottomofthe
rubberisolator.
Placethreadedportionofboltthroughthe same
holelocationthewood plankwas mounted to
onthe pressurewasher.
Next place thetee nutoverthe threaded portion
ofthe bolt and usethe allenwrench provided to
tightenisolatorto theframe.

4, Connect wand extensionto gun.Totighten,turn

5. Remove tie wrap off of high pressure hose,
Unwind high pressure hose and attach the
threaded end tothe gun.Tightenwith adjustable
wrench.
6. Connect high pressure hose to outlet on
pressure washer and handtighten firmly.

7. Place assembled gun and wand on pressure
washer holder.
Pull the cord under the wire bracket to the
right ofthe wireloop.
Lift the pull cord handle up and slide the cord
to the left sliding the cord into the wire loop.
Next slide handle behind the wire bracket to
the leftof the wire loop.
Engine recoilwillpullthe cord intoitsfinal
position.
8, Place pull cord intothewire bracket holder.
Pull the cord underthe wire bracket to the right
of the wire loop.

PRESSURE REGULATOR- Allows you to adjust the
pressure of the outlet stream.

Stopping Your Pressure Washer

Move throttlecontroltothe stop positiontoturn
pressurewasher off.
Simply shuttingOFF engine willnot release pressure
in the system. After engine has stopped, squeeze
the trigger on the spray gun for about 3 seconds to
relieve pressure. Spray stream will decrease in
length.

Remove oildipstick located on top ofthe engine.Oil
capacity is about20 ouncesof oil.The oil dip stick is
clearlymarked with a linethat tellsyou when unithas
enoughoil To check oil, place dipstick intooilfill.
Tightendipstick then remove. Do notfillabove this
point.Pourslowly.
NOTE: When adding oilto the engine crankcase, use a
highqualitydetergentoilclassified"For ServiceSF,SG,
SH, rated SAE30 weight, Use no special additives.

IMPORTANT: This unit is equipped with a thermal relief
valve. If unit is allowed to run for several minutes
without pressing the trigger on the spray gun, several
drops of water may be released through this valve to
cool the unit. This small amount of water will drip from
the bottom of the pump,
Although multi-viscosityoils (5W30, lOW30, etc.)
improve starting in clod weather, these multi-viscosity
oils will result in increasedoil consumption when used
above 40°F Check your engine oil level more frequently
to avoid possible damage from running low on oil. Oil
sump capacity is 20 ounces.
Gasoline
Your pressure washer engine is4 cycle. Use unleaded
fuel only.
A, AUTION: Do not overfillthe fuel tank. Always
allowroom for fuel expansion.
A, ARNING: Never fillfuel tank indoors.Toavoid
explosionand injury,never fillfuel tank when
engine isrunningor hot.Do not smokeor have
open flame when fillingfuel tank.
Use clean, fresh, regular unleaded gasolinewitha
minimumof 85 octane. Do not mix oilwith gasoline. If
unleaded fuel is unavailable leaded fuel may be used.
IMPORTANT: It isimportantto prevent gum deposits
from formingin essentialfuel system parts such as
the carburetor,fuelfilterhose ortank duringstorage.
Also,experience indicatesthat alcohol-blendedfuels
(calledgasohol or usingethanolor methanol)can
attract moisture which leadsto separationand forma-
tion ofacids duringstorage. Acidic gascan damage
the fuel system ofan engine whilein storage. To avoid
engine problems, the fuel system shouldbe emptied
beforestorage of 30 daysor longer.Never use engine
orcarburetor cleaner productsinthefueltank or
permanent damage may occur.

To Start Your Pressure Washer
Remove gas cap.
Add unleaded gasoline, slowly,to fuel tank.
Do not overfill.
Squeeze trigger on pressurewasher wand to relieve
airpressurecaused byturningon the water.Water
will spewout ofthe gun ina thin stream. This will
make iteasierto startthe engine.
Engage the safety latch on the spray gun. Thislocks
the triggerin place and keepsyou from accidentally
sprayinga highpressure stream.

On the engine there is a choke/run lever. Place lever
to the choke position.

On the enginethere is a throttle control lever.Place
throttle to the rabbit position. Always start engine
with throttle in the rabbit (high speed) position.
Connect garden hose to the water inletonthe
pressure washer. Tighten by turning counterclock-
wise.

Connect high pressure hoseto discharge on pump.
Connect the garden hose to the water spout and turn
water supply on.
Grasp the starter grip and pull slowlyuntil resistance
isfelt,then pullfirmly to start engine.
NOTE: If enginedoes not start rightaway,squeeze the
triggeron the gunto relieveairpressurecaused by
turningon the water.Water willspew out ofthe gun ina
thinstream. Thiswillmake iteasier to pullstart the
engine. Ifmore than five pulls,place choke level backto
runposition.
When engine starts, gradually move choke lever to
RUN position.
For hot engine restarts, make sure throttle is in the
rabbit (high speed) position and the choke lever is in
the RUN position.
Grasp the starter grip and pull slowly until resistance
is felt, then pull firmly to start engine.
How To Use Your Pressure Washer
On the end of yourspray gun is a nozzle that you can
slide forward and backward and that you can also
twist from side to side. With the adjustable nozzle you
can adjustthe spray pattern to either high pressure
or low pressure. You can also adjust the spray so it is
concentrated in a stream pattern or expanded into a fan
pattem.
Slide the nozzle in a forward position to draw chemical
and achieve low pressure. Pull nozzle back for high
pressure.

To adjust your spray pattern twist the nozzle
clockwisefor fan spray orcounterclockwisefor
stream spray.

For mosteffectivecleaning, keep spray nozzle
between 8 and 24 inchesfrom cleaning surface.
IMPORTANT: If you get spray nozzle too close,
especially on high pressure, you may damage the
surface you are cleaning.
Using Soaps/Chemicals
IMPORTANT: Use soaps and chemicalsthat are
designedspecificallyfor use with pressure washers,To
apply soaps/chemicals follow these steps:
Preparethe soap/chemical as requiredby yourjob.
Insertsoap/chemicalline intoyourcontainer(soap/
chemicalsand containernot included),

Slide the adjustable nozzle forward to low pressure
mode. Soap/chemicals cannot be applied with nozzle
in high pressure position.
Reviewthe use of the adjustable nozzle.
Connect garden hose to water inlet(see"To Start Your
Pressure Washer" on page 9).Check that high
pressure hose is connected to spray gun and pump
(seeAssembly), and start engine.
Apply soap/chemicals to dry surface, starting from the
bottom and working up.
Allow the soap/chemicals to soak in between 3-5
minutes before washing and dnsing.
When rinsingon high pressure, startat lower portion
of areato be washed and work upward, usinglong,
even, overlappingstrokes.

General Recommendations
The warranty of the highpressure washer does not
cover itemsthat have been subjected to operator
abuse or negligence. Toreceive full value from the
warranty, operator must maintain high pressure
washer as instructed in this manual.
Some adjustmentswill need to be made periodically to
maintain your high pressure washer.
Once a year you shouldclean or replace the spark
plug, and clean or replace the air filter, and thoroughly
check the gun and wand assembly for wear. A clean
spark plug and clean air filter assure proper fuel-air
mixture and help your engine run better and last longer.
Your pressure washer pump isa sealed pump; you
should never have to add or change the oil.
NOTE: Over time the o-rings in the gun assembly
become worn. Attached to your owners manual is a
replacememt o-ring and split backup ring.

Pressure Washer Maintenance
Check and Clean Inlet Screen: Examine inletscreen
on pump inletfitting. Clean ifclogged; replace iftom.
Check High Pressure Hose: High pressure hose can
develop leaks from wear, kinking,abuse. Inspecthose
eachtime beforeuse. Check for cuts, leaks, abrasions
or bulgingofcover,and damage ormovement of
couplings.If anyof these conditionsexist, replace hose
immediately.
Check Chemical/Soap Hose: Examine thechemicaV
soap hoseand clean ifclogged. Hose shouldfittightly
on pump fitting.Check for leaksand tears. Replace
filteror hose ifeither is damaged.
Check Gun and Wand: Examine hose connectionto
gun makingsure it issecure. Testtriggerby pressing it
and makingsure itspringsback intoplace when you
release it.
Pump Maintenance (Changing Pump Oil)
Your pressurewasher pump isa sealed pump, you
shouldneverhaveto changeoil.
Changing Engine Oil
Change oilwhileengine isstillwarm. Preferably
drainoilfrom top of engineas illustratedbelow.
Drain oilwith aircleaner side up, Oilcan be drained
fromengine bottom ifnecessary.
IMPORTANT: Beforetippingengineor equipment to
drain oil, drainfuel from tank byrunningengine until
fuel tank is empty.

Todrain oilfrom bottom of engine, removedrain
plug as illustratedbelow. Allow oil todrain and
replacedrain plug. Remove dipstick and refillwith
newoilofrecommended grade. Startand run engine
at idlefor 30 seconds.

Purge Pump of Air and Contaminants
Toremove the airfrom the pump, follow these steps:
Set up the pressure washer as describedin
Assemblysection and connect the water supply.
Remove the wand extensionfromthe spray gun.
Pullthe triggeron thegunand hold.
Toremove thecontaminantsfrom the pump, follow

Set up the pressure washer as described in
ASSEMBLY section, connectthewater supply.
Remove thewand extension from the spraygun.
Starttheengine accordingto instructionsinthe
OPERATIONsection.
Startthe engineaccordingto instructionsinthe
OPERATIONsection.
Pullthetriggeron thegunand hold.
When the water supply issteady and constant,
disengagetriggerand refasten thewand extension.
Engine Maintenance
Check Oil Level
Oil levelshouldbe checked priorto each use
orat leastevery 5 hoursofoperation.To check oilsee
Adding Engine Oil on page 9.

If required, add oil to bring level to FULL mark on

Check Engine -- Finger Guard/Muffler
Do not clean engine witha forcefulspray of
water because watercould contaminate fuel system.
Witha brushor cloth, clean anydebris from finger
guardafterevery useto preventengine damage
caused by overheating.
Before running engine, clean muffler area to
remove all grass and combustible debris.

Clean Pre-Cleaner and Air Cleaner Cartridge
Yourengine isequippedwith an oval dual element
air cleaner: thetwo elements includea foam pre-cleaner
and an air cleaner cartridge.
To remove the air cleaner element, loosentwo cover
screwsand lift cover. Carefullyremove foam pre-
cleanerand air cleaner cartridge.
To clean pre-cleaner and air cleaner cartridge,wash
in liquiddetergent and water. Allow to drythoroughly
before using. Do not oilthe precleaneror cartridge.
Replace ifvery dirtyor damaged.
After cleaning the pre-cleanerand air cleaner
cartridge,replace pre-cleaner onair cleaner car
tridge.
Installair cleanerassembly (pre-cleaner and
cartridge) inbase. Then installcover onair cleaner
and tighten screws securelyto base.
NOTE: Do not use petroleum solvents,e.g., kerosene,
whichwillcause thecartridgeto detedorete. Do not use
pressurizedairto clean cartridge. Pressurizedaircan
damage thecartridge.
Clean and Replace Spark Plug
Change thespark plug everyI00 hoursofoperationor
once each year,whichever comesfirst.Thiswill help
your engineto starteasier and runbetter.

Carburetor
The carburetor of your high pressure washer is pre-set
at the factory. The carburetor should not be tampered
with. If you pressure washer is used at an altitude in
excess of 5000 feet consult with your nearest Sears
Service Center regarding high altitude set changes.
A CAUTION: Engine speed was properly adjusted
at the factory and should require no additional
adjustment. Do not attempt to change engine
speed, If you believe the engine is running too fast
or too slow, take your pressure to a Sears
Authorized Service Center for repair and adjustment.
,& WARNING:High engine speeds are dangerous and
increase the risk of personal injury or damage to
equipment.

Nozzle Cleaning
Ifthe nozzle becomes clogged withforeign materials,
such as dirt, excessive pressure may develop. If the
nozzle becomes partially clogged or restricted, the
pump pressure will pulsate. Clean the nozzle immedi-
ately using the nozzle kit supplied and the following
instructions.
1. Shut off the pressure washer and turn off the water
supply.
2, Disconnect spark plug wire.

3. Pull tdggeron gun handleto relieve any water
pressure.
4. Disconnectthe wand fromthe gun.
5. Remove nozzle from the the end ofthewand with
the 2ram allenwrenchprovided.
6. Clean thenozzle usingthenozzlecleanerprovided
or a straightened paperclip. Insertintothe nozzle
end and work back and forth untilobstructionsis
removed.
7. Directwatersupply intonozzleend to backflush
loosened particles for 30 seconds.
8. Reassemble thenozzleto the wand.Tightan
securelyto prevent leaks.
9. Reconnect wand togunand turnon water suppply.
10. Startpressurewasherand place wand intohigh
pressuresettingto test.
Preparing Pressure Washer for Storage
NOTE: Ifyou do not plan to use your unit for 30 days or
more, unit should be prepared for storage.
IMPORTANT: It isimportantto prevent gum deposits
from forming in essentialfuel system parts such as the
carburetor,fuel filter hoseortank duringstorage.Also,
experience indicatesthat alcohol-blendedfuels (called
gasoholor usingethanolor methanol)can attract mois-
ture whichleads to separation and formationofacids
during storage. Acidic gascan damage the fuel system
ofan engine whilein storage.To avoidengineproblems,
thefuel system should be emptiedbefore storageof30
daysor longer.Never useengineorcarburetorcleaner
products inthe fuel tank or permanentdamage may
occur.
Engine Preparation
Firstadd a fuel stabilizer to thefuel tank.
Run pressurewasherforafull5minutestoailowfuel
stabilizer to enter the fuel system.
Next shut off engine and disconnect thewater
supply.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the spark
plug.
Add one teaspoon of oil through the spark plug
hc4e.
Place rag over spark plug hole and pull the recoil a
few times to iubricate the combustion chamber.
Replace the spark plug, but do not connect the spark
plug wire.
l a, CAUTION: Whilewhilepreparing the engine make
surewater supply isturnedon and flowingto the
unit.NEVER rununitwithoutwater supplyrunning
throughpump. Failuretodo so willcause pump
damage.
Pump Preparation
This pressure washer should be stored in sucha way
to protect itfrom freezing. Do not store this unit out-
doors or in an areawhere temperatures will fall below
32° E This can cause extensive damage to this unit.
If unithasto be stored underfreezing conditions a non-
toxic R.V.anti-freeze shouldbe put inthe pump ac-
cordingtosteps belowto protectfrom freezing.
Besure engine switch is in "OFF" position and spark
plugwire has been removedfrom spark plug.
Pull the trigger on the spray gun to release the
pressurein the high pressure hose. Detach high
pressure hose and garden hose from the unit.
Pullthe recoil on the engine 4 to 6 timesto discharge
remaining water in pump.
Tip the unit on the end with the water inlet fitting
pointing upward.
If unit will be stored where temperturee fall below
32°F, pour approximately 1/4 cup of non-toxic R.V.
anti-freeze down the fitting where the water hose
attaches to the pump.
Set unit upright and pull starter handle on engine 4 to
6 times to circulate anti-freeze in pump until anti-
freeze is discharged from the pump.
