Installation of Low Pressure Adapter for the CLX
Part Number 28316
The low pressure adapter can be added to any CLX that has low sample pressure requirements. The adapter
requires a minimum sample pressure of 0.103 bars (1.5 PSI) to operate correctly. If the pressure increases
beyond this point, excess sample water will ow out of the overow drain and does not disrupt the operation of
the instrument. It is important that the overow drain is open to atmosphere.
The assembly must be located at a height 609 mm (24”) above the top instrument. Two clips are provided to
mount the assembly. Route the drain tube to a convenient open atmosphere drain.
Instrument Modications
To operate at low pressures there are two modications that must be made to the instrument.
The installed pressure regulator on the instrument must be adjusted fully clockwise. This sets the 1.
regulator up to accept lower pressures.
A Modbus setting needs to be adjusted. The value in Register 40224 needs to be adjusted from the 2.
factory setting of 4 to 8. This value is an integer.

This test data represents an instrument that was operated in a constant ambient air temperature of 55°C (131°F) for 30 days. The integral Peltier Cooling
System was proven to maintain a reagent temperature below 25°C (77°F), which will extend the reagent life from one (1) month to three (3) months. This
reagent life claim was substantiated in a separate controlled experiment described on page 10.

Data shows that the accuracy of the CLX stays within specications (±5%) for 12 weeks when the
reagent temperature is controlled to a maximum of 25 degrees C.
Testing was performed to determine the effect of temperature on the CLX JAW reagents. Reagents
were prepared and held at 25°C in an environmental chamber for the duration of the testing. The
temperature controlled reagents were installed into a CLX weekly and the data collected was compared
to control data. The control consisted of a fresh reagent set that was prepared immediately prior to
data collection. Test data proved that by controlling the temperature at 25°, the life of the reagent
was extended from 30 days to 90 days with all Cl

measurements within specication (±5% 0-6ppm
and ±10% 6-10ppm).
