Switch Replacement
1-Remove three screws (44) from each side of the control housing (41)
2-Remove three screws securing the switch wires to the contactor
3-Remove switch retaining nut (33)
Contactor
1-Remove three screws (44) from each side of the control housing (41)
2-Disconnect all wires from the contactor (39)
3-Remove two screws (46) securing the contactor to the control housing
Power Cord
1-Remove three screws (44) from each side of the control housing (41)
2-Disconnect cord wires from the contactor and ground
3-Remove the strain relief retaining nut (42)

Motor
1-Remove two screws (39) securing the belt guard (5)
2-Remove two nuts (50) on the front side of the motor mounting plate
3-Turn machine over and remove the dust plate (44) to expose the motor mounting nuts
3-Remove two nuts (27) from the back side of the motor mounting plate (Fig. 37)
Assembly Hints
Motor plate shims (47) can be added or removed to obtain proper belt tension
Belt Removal and Replacement
1-Remove two screws (39) securing the belt guard (5)
2-If belts are not being reused cut them off
3-If belts will be reused rotate the motor pulley (6) by hand while pushing the fan belt (8) off of the fan
pulley (14) with a screw driver or similar object and repeat with the drum belt (9) (Fig. 38)
Reassembly
1-Install the drum belt (9) on the motor pulley (6) and turn the motor pulley by hand to roll the belt onto to
drum pulley (29) and repeat with the fan belt (8) (Fig. 39)
2-Reinstall the belt guard

Pulley Removal and Replacement
1-Remove two screws (39) securing the belt guard (5)
2-Remove drive belts
Motor Pulley
1-Loosen two set screws (4) in the pulley and use a gear puller or pry bars to remove
Drum Pulley
1- Loosen the set screw (37)and use a gear puller or pry bars to remove
Fan Pulley
1-Use a thin pair of pliers or similar tool to hold the hub of the pulley (14) and remove the retaining nut (13)
(Fig. 40)
Note: If the pulley can not be held it will be necessary to remove the fan assembly and hold the fan while
loosening the nut. DO NOT USE PLIERS TO HOLD THE FACE OF THE PULLEY.
2-Use a gear puller or pry bars to remove the pulley
Reassembly
1-Install the drum pulley (29) and key (31) on the drum shaft (34) and tighten the set screw (37)
2-Install the fan pulley (14) and key (12) on the fan shaft and secure with the retaining nut (13)
3-Install the motor pulley (6) with the outside of the pulley flush with the end of the motor shaft and tighten
the set screws (4)
4-Reinstall the drive belts
Assembly hints
If the set screws in the drum or motor pulleys do not loosen easily use heat to loosen the thread locker
When reinstalling the belts center them on the drum and fan belts and then adjust the motor pulley for
proper alignment if necessary.

Drum Removal and Replacement
1-Remove the drum retaining nut (41)
2-Remove the key washer assembly (40)
3-Pull the drum (61) off of the shaft (34).
Note: If drum will nut pull easily use a pry bar
to pry from the backside
Reassembly
1-Slide drum on the shaft
2-Reinstall the key washer
3-Install the drum retaining nut

Assembly Hints
If air tools are not available to remove the drum retaining nut put a wrench on the nut and hit the wrench
with a hammer to loosen the nut.
Drum Shaft and Bearing Removal and Repair
1-Remove two screws (39) retaining the belt guard (5)
2-Remove the drum belt (9)
3-Remove the drum retaining nut (41)
4-Remove the drum (61)
5-Loosen two set screws (28) in each bearing (32)
6-Reinstall the drum retaining nut (41) to protect the threads and drive the shaft and pulley out of the
frame and bearings toward the pulley side.
7-Loosen the set screw (37) in the drum pulley (29) and pull the pulley off of the shaft
8-Remove the two bolts (7) securing each bearing (32) to the frame and remove the bearings
Reassembly
1-Mount both bearings (32) in the frame (49)
2-Install the drum pulley (29) on the shaft (34)
3-Drive the shaft and pulley assembly through the bearings. (Fig. 41)
Note: If the shaft is very difficult to drive it may be necessary to loosen and align the bearings.
4-Tighten the two set screws (28) in each bearing (32)
5-Push the drum (61) on the shaft (34) and align the keyway
6-Install the key washer (40) and drum retaining nut (41)
7-Reinstall the drum belt (9)
8-Reinstall the belt guard (5)
Assembly Hints
If the set screws in the pulley or bearings do not loosen easily use heat to loosen the thread locker
Fan Assembly Removal And Repair
1-Remove two screws (39) securing the belt guard (5)
2-Remove the fan drive belt (8)
3-Remove three retaining screws (16) and remove the fan assembly from the frame
4-Remove the pulley retaining nut (13) and use a gear puller or pry bars to remove the pulley (14)
5-Remove the pulley key (12)
6-Remove the fan retaining ring (19)
7-Pry the fan (20) off of the shaft (17)
8-Reinstall the pulley retaining nut (13) to protect the threads and drive the shaft (17) through the fan
housing from the pulley end
9-Remove the fan key (12) and press the inner bearing (11) from the shaft (17)
10-Remove the retaining ring (15) and drive the outer bearing (11) from the fan housing (10)
Reassembly
1-Press the inner bearing (11) on the shaft (17)
2-Press the outer bearing (11) in the housing (10) and install the retaining ring (15)
3-Press the shaft assembly into the housing (10) while supporting the inner race of the outside bearing
(11) and pressing on both races of the inner bearing (11)
4-Install the key (12) and wave washer (18) and press the fan (20) on the shaft (17)

5-install the fan retaining ring (19)
6-Install the pulley key (12) and press the pulley (14) on
7-Install the pulley retaining nut (13)
8-Reinstall the fan housing (10) with the larger hole at the top left. (Fig. 42)

EZ-8 TROUBLE SHOOTING
SYMPTOM

Motor runs sluggishly.

Locate power source nearer to work site. Check
connections.

Remove power and allow motor to cool.
Depress reset button on motor.

Replace belt.
