This Maytag Service Manual, ”MFR Series Washers” (Part No. W10251143), provides

the Commercial Laundry Service Professional with information on the installation,

operation, and service of the MFR series washers. For specic information on the

model being serviced, refer to the “Installation Instructions,” or “Tech Sheet” provided

with the washer. The Wiring Diagrams used in this Service Manual are typical and

should be used for training purposes only. Always use the Wiring Diagram supplied

with the washer when servicing. Throughout this service manual, and in the video,

the orientation of verbal locations of items will be as if facing the front of the washer.

This will help to specify the exact meaning of words and phrases like: left side, on the

right, at the front or in the back.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal of this Service Manual is to provide information that will enable the

Commercial Laundry Service Professional to properly diagnose malfunctions and

repair the MFR series washer. The objectives of this Service Manual are to:

Sensitive Electronics

ESD problems are present everywhere. ESD may damage or weaken the

electronic control assembly. The new control assembly may appear to

work well after repair is nished, but failure may occur at a later date due

to ESD stress.

• Use an anti-static wrist strap. Connect wrist strap to green ground

connection point or unpainted metal in the appliance

-OR-

Touch your nger repeatedly to a green ground connection point or

unpainted metal in the appliance.

• Before removing the part from its package, touch the anti-static bag to a

green ground connection point or unpainted metal in the appliance.

• Avoid touching electronic parts or terminal contacts; handle electronic

control assembly by edges only.

• When repackaging failed electronic control assembly in anti-static bag,

observe above instructions.

instructions attached to or furnished with the product, Maytag brand of Whirlpool Corporation (thereafter “Maytag”) will pay for factory

specified parts or original equipment manufacturer parts to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Proof of original purchase date

THREE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY ON PARTS

For the first three (3) years from the date of purchase, when this commercial appliance is installed, maintained and operated according

to the instructions attached to or furnished with the product, Maytag Commercial Laundry brand of Whirlpool Corporation (thereafter

“Maytag”) will pay for factory specified parts or original equipment manufacturer parts to correct defects in materials or workmanship.

FOURTH AND FIFTH YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY ON CERTAIN PARTS

In the fourth and fifth years form the date of purchase, Maytag will pay for the following washer parts: the outer shell, drum and shaft

assembly, inner welded frame, and bearings and seals.

YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL BE PART REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED

HEREIN. Proof of original purchase date is required to obtain parts under this warranty.

GENERAL USER INFORMATION

The information contained in this manual

pertains to the service procedures involved

in maintaining and servicing Maytag MFR18

through MFR80 PDC and PNC commercial

washer models built starting in the third

quarter of 2005 through 2010.

Specications and installation requirements

are included in this manual as a guide

to assist in proper performance and for

servicing the products. As with all models, the

importance of proper installation can not be

over emphasized. For additional information,

refer to the installation and programming

instructions that accompany each washer.

The MFR PDC models were introduced

in 2005 as an update to the MFR line of

commercial washers rst introduced in 1996.

This line is the third iteration of the front

loading rigid mount multiload washer line

intended for coin operated commercial laundry

usage.

The MFRxxPNC line offers similar models

intended for non-coin on premise laundry

purposes.

Currently the washers are offered in capacities

ranging from 18 pounds to 80 pounds of

regular water-washable laundry (clothing and

linens).

All MFRxxPNC models use microprocessor

controls for maximum versatility in

programming and service diagnosis.

All models use variable frequency drive motor

controls for optimum wash and extraction

speed settings.

The US model number indicates the Brand,

drive type, mounting method, capacity, and

control type.

M = Maytag product.

F = Front loading washer

R = Commercial Rigid mount washer

MFR washers have a rigid frame and depend

on a proper installation on a solid foundation

to absorb and dissipate out-of-balance

stresses and vibration.

The capacity designation follows next in the

model number layout to indicate capacity

in pounds for the maximum load size in dry

weight (before washing).

18 = eighteen (18) pounds capacity

25 = twenty ve (25) pounds capacity

30 = thirty (30) pounds capacity

40 = forty (40) pounds capacity

50 = fty (50) pounds capacity

60 = sixty (60) pounds capacity

80 = eighty (80) pounds capacity

Next is the type of controls used. All will begin

with the letter “P” to indicate microprocessor

based controls.

MFRxxPDC indicates a microprocessor

control with a coin drop money acceptor. The

“D” indicates coin drop equipped. The “C”

indicates the model change (A, B, D, C) since

introduction. The coin drops supplied will

either be from Munzprufer or from Greenwald

Industries. The standard drop is for a single

US or Canadian Quarter (the Canadian drop

will have to have the anti-cheat magnet

removed). Accessory drops that accept more

than the quarter are available as after-market

assemblies.
