REPLACEMENT OF CD MECHANISM
Note that the mechanism of the CD player is very delicate.
It is very important that the spindle motor (witch rotates the disc), and the sled motor (which cases the disc signals to be tracked), as
well as the gear and other components, operate smoothly, without eccentricity.
When handling the pickup, take care not to exeti excessive force, and particular care should be taken not to touch the lens or the
drive circuit’s P.W.Board pattern.
a. Replacement of the spindle motor
First, prepare the new turntable (CM1 -2) and new special washer
(CM1-4) for replacement.
The removed turntable will be deformed by the heat of the
soldering iron, and cannot be reused.
Prepare diaf type calipers.

The attached bonding material can be dissolved by using a
60W soldering iron to heat the shaft at the under part of the
turntable (CM1 -2) for about one minute.
The turntable can then be removed from the shaft by very
carefully appfying force upward at the center of the lower surface
of the turntable.
Remove the two screws {CM1 -3) and remove the spindle motor
(CM1-5).
Attach the
speciaf washer (CM1 -4) to the spindle motor.
Apply a small amount of a mixture of the “Three Bond 2001
and 201 5F” bonding materials to the motor’s shaft.
Initial the turntable as shown in the figure. Secure the turntable
by pressing gently. Be sure to wipe away (by using a price of
cloth, or similar material) any bonding material coming out of
the hole.

REPLACEMENT OF CD MECHANISM
c. Replacement and lubrication of the pickup
Before replacement of the pickup, be sure to carefully read the
section regarding the pickup
when the unit is moved or
transported.
(1)
.
(2)
(3)
Remove a pickup rail (CM2) with a driver from the bottom of
chassis.
When removing or inserting the pickup rail from or into chassis,
take care not to exert excessive force.
When the pickup is reconditioned of replaced, be
sure to wipe
the rails clean and also apply a coating of FLOIL (G-474B) to
there entire circumference and eritire length.
When applying the grease, do not allow any grease to adhere
to any other parts.
Pass the pickup rail (CM2) throuc$ the new pickup (CM7).
The pickup P. W. Board
pattern is ‘shorted=, as shown in the
figure, so that the new pickup will not be susceptible to the
effects of static.
Set the pattern to “open= after the pickup has
been replaced.
