gasbecausethefuelsystemcouldbedamaged.
DoNotaddoiltogasoline.
DoNotoverīƒ€llfueltank.Fillthefueltanktothe
bottomoftheīƒ€llerneck.Theemptyspaceinthe
tankallowsgasolinetoexpand.Overīƒ€llingmayresult
infuelleakageordamagetotheengineoremission
system.
Makesureyouunderstandthecontrols,their
locations,theirfunctions,andtheirsafety
requirements.

StartingtheEngine
1.LeavetheLHmotioncontrolleverinneutraland

2.Pulltheparkingbrakeleverrearwardtoengage
theparkingbrake.
3.Pushin(down)onthePTOswitchtothe
ā€œdisengageā€position.
4.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweentheā€œSLOWā€
andā€œFASTā€positions.
5.Onacoldengine,pushthechokeleverforward
intotheā€œONā€position.
Onawarmengine,leavethechokeintheā€œOFFā€
position.
6.Turnignitionswitchtotheā€œSTARTā€position.
Releasetheswitchassoonastheenginestarts.
Important:DoNotcranktheengine
continuouslyformorethantensecondsata
time.Iftheenginedoesnotstart,allowa60
secondcool-downperiodbetweenstarting
attempts.Failuretofollowtheseguidelines

Neveroperatethemowerwiththedischarge
deīƒectorraised,removed,oralteredunlessthere
isagrasscollectionsystemormulchkitinplace
andworkingproperly.
ThePTOswitchengagesthecuttingblades.Besure
allpersonsareclearofmowerdeckanddischarge
areabeforeengagingthePTO.
1.Setthrottletoā€œMIDWAYā€position.
2.Releasetheparkingbrake.
3.Movetherightsidemotioncontrollevertothe
center,operateposition.
4.Continueholdingtherightsidemotioncontrol
leverinthecenter,operatepositionandpullup
onthebladecontrolswitch(PTO)andrelease.
Theclutchshouldengageandthemowerblades
beginrotating.
5.Placethethrottleintheā€œFASTā€positiontobegin
mowing.

3.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweentheā€œSLOWā€
andā€œFASTā€positions.
4.PushdownonthePTOswitchtodisengagethe
blades.
5.Engagetheparkingbrake.
6.Allowtheenginetorunforaminimumof15
seconds,thenturntheignitionswitchtothe
ā€œOFFā€positiontostoptheengine.
7.Removethekeytopreventchildrenorother
unauthorizedpersonsfromstartingengine.
8.Closethefuelshut-offvalvewhenthemachine
willnotbeinuseforafewdays,when
transporting,orwhentheunitisparkedinside
abuilding.
DrivingtheMachine
