l Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug.A polarized

plug hastwo bladesand athird grounding prong.The wide blade or the third prong is

provided for your safety. If the provided plug doesnot fit into your outlet, consult an

electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

l Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs,

convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

l Only use attachments/accessoriesspecified by the manufacturer.

l Unplug thisapparatusduring lightning stormsor when unused for long periodsof time.

l Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.Servicing isrequired when the

apparatushasbeen damaged in any way such as; power-cord supply or plug isdamaged,

liquid hasbeen spilled,objectshave fallen into the apparatus,the apparatushasbeen

exposed to heavy rain,the apparatusdoesnot operate normally.

l Caution: Shielded Cable Requirement

l Use only chargersprovided by HME/Clear-Com to charge the battery packsor

beltpacks. These include:

BAT60 Battery pack and beltpack charger manufactured by HME/Clear-Com

USB Charger model PA1015-050SIB200/PA1015-1SI/ PA1015-1SI050200 provided

by HME/ Clear-Com with your beltpack.

l Shielded Cable isrequired for ALL LQ SERIESGPIO Port connectivity.Shielded Cable

must be used to assure compliance with domestic and international emissionsstandards.

radio interference in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.

1 What isFreeSpeak II?

The FreeSpeak II wirelessintercom system includeswired and wirelessbeltpacksthat

communicate using acellular network of transceivers(1.9 and 2.4 GHz).

These different devicescommunicate seamlessly.

1.3 Flexibleconfiguration

Pre-configured beltpack Rolesallow both rapid set-up and flexible configuration.

l Use simple default set-up; all beltpackson Channel 1 and 2 assigned to A and B with

call signal on C and D.

l or, customize the set-up to suit your needs.

l System haseither 25 (FSII-BASE-II) or 5 (FSII-BASE-II-5) beltpack Roles.FSII-BASE-II-5

offersa license to upgrade to 25 beltpacksif required.

1.4 Liveset-up and control

2 Using the Base Station

2.1 About theBaseStation

The FreeSpeak II Base Station routescommunication to and from wirelessbeltpacks. It

providesacontrol point for audio and allowsthe user to configure the system,either from the

front panel menusor using the online configuration manager.

l PressMenu button to configure your audio set up from the Base.

See Accessing the Core Configuration Manager (CCM)on page 92 for detailsabout online

configuration.

2.2 BaseStation controls

USB port. Use when registering beltpacksto the Base Station.Also use when

Keyset

A Keyset isaset of controlsassociated with an audio assignment. On the Base,

aKeyset ismade up of aviewing screen and three controls(arotary and two

push buttons).The viewing screen showsaChannel and any associated

messages. The rotary controlsvolume to that Channel,and the push buttons

control Call and Talk to the Channel. The viewing screensare also used to

display menu and mode information.

Stage Announce.Allowsthe Base operator to talk on the Stage Announce

output.Push and hold to talk.

All Talk. Allowsthe Base operator to talk to all wired and wirelessbeltpacks(2-

Wire and 4-Wire).Push and hold to talk.

Remote Mic Kill (RMK). AllowsBase operator to remotely unlatch all beltpack

talk keys,wirelessand wired.

StatusLED 1 = Transceiver warning light.If green,all transceiversare online.

StatusLED 2 = Beltpack warning light.If green all BPshave sufficient battery

power. If either light isamber (or red),you can pressthe mode button to check

the issue in the diagnosticsscreens.

Controlsoverall volume to the Base headset.ThisincludesChannels,program

feed and any other available audio.Turn rotary to adjust volume,push to turn

headset sound on and off.

Program feed to Base headset volume and control. Turn rotary to adjust volume,

push to turn feed on and off. (Doesnot affect program feed in Channels).

2.3 What isaKeyset?

A Keyset isaset of controlsassociated with an audio assignment. The default configuration of

the Base Station hasthree Partyline audio assignments, and aReply assignment. Beltpacks

have two Partyline audio assignments, two call assignments,and one reply assignment by

default.

2.3.1 Main Station Keysets

The Keysetson aBase Station ismade up of 4 viewing screens, each with an associated rotary

controller,aCall key and aTalk key.These controlsdisplay and regulate the audio routes

associated with the Base.Aswell ascontrolling audio assignments,the viewing screensdisplay

menu optionsand wirelessdiagnostics.

2.3.2 Beltpack Keysets

The Keyset on abeltpack hasone screen and two setsof controls,to the left and right of the

screen.The main assignmentsare on keysA & B and subsidiary assignmentsare on C & D.

Additionally, the Reply key can be over-ridden with an audio assignment.The default set-up

for abeltpack putsChannel 1 on keysA (Talk and Forced Listen) and C (Call signal on Channel

1), and Channel 2 on keysB (Talk and Forced Listen)and D (Call signal on Channel 2).

2.4 Key behavior

2.5 FreeSpeak II Baserear connectors

The Base Station rear connectorsare listed below.

A Power connector.Mainspower lead with internal current converter.

Power connector.DC wallwart power lead (Part # 453G032,12V DC,60W).Use

connector A or connector B or both to guard against power failure.

C

Grounding screw.When connecting the base to other systems,you must connect

the grounding screw to agood earth in order to prevent audio problems.

D

Fiber connector to FSII splitter (Part # FSII-SPL).Used with Fiber module (Part #

HLI-SMFO or MMFO)

E RJ45 connector to transceiver ( FSII-TCVR-19, FSII-TCVR-24) or splitter.

F

Dect Sync.RJ45 connector to another Base Station.Can also be used to

synchronize to other Clear-Com DECT devicesor another DECT based system.In

some casesyou will need across-over cable instead of a standard cable.See

2 x RJ45 ports.These can be used for network connection or for daisy-chaining

devices. Note: The portsshare an IPaddress,so only one network connection is

possible (either port can be used).

Note: For connection between the Base and transceiver/splitter and digital audio feeds,Clear-Com

recommendsshielded Cat 5/ 6 cable of no lessthan 24 AWG.Use of other cable can result in

shorter cable runsand other performance problems.
