Battery
I am having trouble turning on my Compaq AirLife 100. What should I do?
If you have problems starting AirLife, perform the following checks:
Ensure the battery is fully charged. If the LED next to the power button on your AirLife is blinking
red, it indicates the battery has reached a critically low battery level. For best results, charge the
battery fully. The solid green LED indicates full battery charge.
Ensure the battery is correctly installed. Make sure that the connectors on the battery are
aligned with the housing pins in the battery compartment.
Ensure the battery connectors and housing pins are not damaged or dirty. If the battery
connectors appear to be soiled or the housing pins appear bent or damaged, contact your

the AirLife to ensure that the cable is securely inserted. Similarly, inspect the power connector

to: product model, applications running, power management settings, and product features. The battery
warranty does not cover natural deterioration of the battery capacity. The battery of your AirLife is only

has had a warranted failure, you may be required to run an HP diagnostic.

Connections
I have trouble connecting to the Internet. What should I do?
If you have trouble connecting to the Internet, perform the following checks:
If your AirLife is set to Airplane mode, the Wi-Fi and cellular network connections are disabled.
To disable Airplane mode, press MENU on the keyboard, touch Settings, touch Wireless
controls, and then clear the Airplane mode check box. Next, make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled or
that you have a cellular network connection.
NOTE: When the Airplane mode is enabled, you can't enable or disable the settings in the
Wireless controls screen. Before changing any settings in the Wireless controls screen, you
must disable Airplane mode.
Make sure you have strong network reception. If you are inside a building, move towards a
place where you have better signal reception.
Why does my AirLife sometimes disconnect from the Internet, messaging service, or email?
This could be a result of poor signal strength. If you have this problem, check the following:
Ensure you have good network reception. If the cellular network signal strength indicator on
your AirLife only shows one or two bars, then you are more likely to experience frequent
disconnects. If you are indoors, try moving closer to the exterior of the building because some
concrete buildings can significantly reduce cellular signal strength. If you work around a lot of
electronic equipment, try moving away from it, especially if that equipment also produces radio
signals.
Contact your mobile operator to ensure the following:
o The network has been correctly set up.
o You have the correct services enabled for your account.
o Your mobile operator is not suffering network outages or performing network
maintenance in your area.
How do I switch from the cellular network to a Wi-Fi network on my AirLife?
1. On the Home screen, press MENU on the keyboard, touch Settings, and then touch Wireless
controls.
2. On the Wireless controls screen, select the Wi-Fi check box.
3. To view a list of available Wi-Fi networks, touch Wireless settings.
Which factors degrade the GPS signal and affect accuracy?
You are indoors, underwater, or underground.
You are surrounded by tall buildings or cliffs.
You are inside a car with thermally shielded glass.
Why can’t I access email using the browser?
Some email Web sites use advanced Flash features or other applications to provide instant messaging
and other services in addition to email. The browser on your AirLife may not support these advanced
Flash features. If the email Web site supports an HTML service (sometimes called a simplified email site
or a site for slower connections) you should try using this feature. Also, you can add the email account
to the Email application on your AirLife.
Can I upload pictures to social media Web sites?
Your AirLife will allow you to upload your pictures to many of your favorite social media sites. To upload
pictures, follow the steps below.
1. Open the App Drawer, and then touch Photo.
2. In the Media Gallery, on the keyboard, press MENU, touch Select, and then touch a picture. To
select all the pictures, touch Select All.
3. Touch Share. On the Choose an upload service menu, touch an option.
4. Log in to the Web site, and then upload the picture.
How do I return to my browser Home page?
Press MENU on the keyboard, touch Exit, and then reopen the browser. Or, you can add the Home page
to your Bookmark list. In the Browser, open your Home page, and then touch . In the Bookmark
window, if you prefer to change the bookmark name, type a new bookmark name in the Name box.
How do I view the mobile or desktop version of a Web site?
Open the App Drawer, and then touch Browser. On the keyboard, press MENU, touch More, and then
touch Settings. Scroll to the Advanced settings section, and then touch User agent. On the User agent
menu, touch Default, Desktop, or Mobile. If Web pages do not display correctly, touch the Default
option.

Messaging
I cannot send a text or multimedia message with my Compaq AirLife 100. What should I do?
If you have a problem sending a text or multimedia message, perform the following checks:
You should have at least 1.5 MB to 2 MB of free memory space on your AirLife so it operates
efficiently. To check the free memory space, on the Home screen, press MENU on the keyboard,
and then touch Settings. Touch SD card & storage, and then under Internal storage, look at the
available space.
Ensure you have good network reception. If the cellular network signal strength indicator on
your AirLife shows only one or two bars, then you are more likely to experience frequent
disconnects. If you are indoors, try moving closer to the exterior of the building because some
concrete buildings can significantly reduce the cellular signal strength. If you work around a lot
of electronic equipment, try moving away from it, especially if that equipment also produces
radio signals. Your AirLife will automatically download text or multimedia messages once you
have returned to an area with good coverage.
Verify your data plan with your mobile operator and make sure that the network has been set
up correctly.
Is there a character limit for text messages?
Text messages are limited to 160 characters. When you are close to the limit, the character counter is
displayed in the top right corner of the Type to compose box. The counter shows the number of
characters remaining before you reach the limit. When the message exceeds the character limit, a new
message is automatically created. The text message appears as a single text message to you and is sent
as multiple messages to the recipient.
What is the size limit for a multimedia message?
The size limit for a multimedia message is 500 kilobytes.
What is the attachment limit for multimedia messages?
You can attach one item per message.
How do I delete contacts from eBuddy?
1. Open the App Drawer, and then touch eBuddy.
2. Log in using your eBuddy ID and password.
3. Touch the Buddies tab, and then long touch an IM contact.
4. Touch Delete.
Why are my instant messages delayed until I open eBuddy?

enabled, the instant messages can be delayed up to 15 minutes. To disable this option, follow these
steps:
1. Open the App Drawer, and then touch eBuddy.
2. On the keyboard, press MENU, and then touch Settings.
3. Clear the Extend battery life check box.
I can't log in to eBuddy using my Yahoo! email address. What should I do?
When you add your Yahoo! account to eBuddy, you need to sign in with the first part of your email
address. If your email address is YourEmail@yahoo.es, type YourEmail only, do not type @yahoo.es.
