themanual,keepitsafeforfuturereference.
Features
TheMR2isanultrahighaudioqualitystereoportablerecorderthatcan
recordandplaybackformatssuchasCD(16bit/44.1kHz),DVDaudio
(24bit/192kHz),andSACD(SuperAudioCD)(1bit/2.8MHz).Inaddi
tion,therecordercanalsorecordandplaybackinMP3orMP2fo
rmat
whichisusedincomputersandmanyportabledigitalaudiodevices.
TheMR2runsontworechargeablebatteriesordrycellbatteries,making
highqualityfieldrecordingsveryeasy.Youcanalsopowertherecorder
byusingaUSBbusforextendedorfixedlocationrecordings.
TherecordeddatacanbecopiedtoyourcomputerviaUSB,anddatafiles
canbecopiedfromyourcomputertotheMR2forlistening.
TheMR2includesKorg’s“A u d i o G a t e formatconversionsoftware,so

OntheMR2,youcanselectparametersandsetvaluesbypressingthe
controllerbuttons.Whenyouselectanitemonthescreenusingacontrol
lerbutton,theselectionicon“”or“”willmovetotheselecteditem.

1. Before Using the MR-2
Inserting or Replacing Batteries
TheMR2requirestwoAAsizebatteries.Werecom
mendthatyouus enickelmetalhydridebatteries,but
youmayalsousealkalinebatteries(LR6).
Theperformanceofalkalinebatteriesdifferssignif
icantlybetweenmanufacturers.Toensurethatthe
MR2operatesinastablemanner,pleaseusebat
teriesfromareputa
blema
nufacturer(seepage58).
Donotcombinenewandusedbatteriesordifferent
typesofbatteries.
TheserialnumberoftheMR2isprintedonthe
labelinsidethebatterycase.Youmaybeaskedfor
theserialnumberifyoucontactKorgoryournear
estKorgdealerregardingth
eproduct
orrepair.
1. Makesurethatthepowerisswitchedoff.AllLED
indicators,andthedisplayshouldalsobeoff.
2. Removethebatterycasecover.
3. Ifthebatteriesareinthecase,removethemfromthecase.
4. InserttwoAAsizebatteriesintothecasewiththe+and−endsinthe
correctorientation.
5. Replacethebatterycasecover.
Replacethebatterieswithnewoneswhenbatterypowergetslow.
Whenthebatteriesexpire,removethemfromthecaseimmediately.Ifyou
don’ tplantousetheunitforalongperiodoftime,removethebatteries.

turnoffthepowertotherecorderfirst,thenremovetheUS

Besuretopushthememorycardintotheslotsecurelyinthecorrect

Donotinstallorremoveamemorycardwhilethepowertotheunitis
on.Otherwise,dataintheunitoronthememorycardmaybe lost,or
thememorycardmaybecomeunusable.

to32GB.Forthebestperformance,werecommendanSDHCcardofClass

Formatting a memory card
Ifyouusedamemorycardwithyourcomputer,cellphone,digitalcameraor
otherdevice,youcannotuseitasiswiththeMR2.Youmustproperlyformat
suchacardbeforeyoucanuseitwiththerecorder.Formoreinformation,Please

2. Connecting your monitor equipment
Connectstereoheadphonesorexternalaudioequipment(suchasanampli
fier)totheheadphonejack.UsetheVOLbuttonstoadjustthevolume.Ifyou
arerecordingfromthebuiltinoranex terna lmicrophone,werecommend
thatyoumonitorthroughheadphonestoreducetherisk ofacousticfeedback.
3. Turning the power on/off
YoumustobservethefollowingprocedurewhenturningtheMR2onoroff.

PressthePowerb utton.Aftertheopeningscreen,themeter/counter
screenwillappear.IftheMR2isrunningonthebatteriesandthepower
willnotturnon,thereisinsufficientbatterycharge.Replacethebatteries.
Turning the power off
PressandholddownthePowerbuttonforatleasttwo(2)seconds.Theshut
downscreenwillappear ,andseveralsecon dslaterth epow erwillturnoff
automatically.
Auto shutdown function
Afteryou’vestoppedtherecorderandacertainlengthoftimeelapses
withoutanyoperationsbeingperformed,theshutdownscreenwill
appearautomaticallyandthenthepowerwillturnoffseveralseconds
later(seepage31).

jackaccordingtothefollowinginputprioritylist.

Selecting the recording format
