5. Solar panels
PS220 makes it easy to recharge your gear from the sun – we didn’t invent solar power, we perfected it.
Here are some things to keep in mind when recharging your gear with solar panels.
1. Solar panels don’t store power from the sun, they collect it.
We teach you to COLLECT – STORE – USE, which is the best way to utilize solar power to recharge your gear.
Collect the sun’s energy with a solar panels. STORE the power in a recharger. Use the recharger to power your
gear, day or night.
2. Not all solar charge times are created equal.
Most solar panel manufacturers calculate recharge times with the following equation:
Devices Watt Hours/Solar Panel Watts=Solar Recharge Times. So theoretically, a 13 watt solar panel would
recharge a 50 watt-hour recharger in 3.84 hours (50/13 = 3.84) – and this is the number you could nd in
marketing material for a solar panel. However, in order to standardize results across all manufacturers, these
tests are completed in laboratory settings. The truth is, on a good, sunny day, you’ll received about 50-75% of
your solar panel’s rated wattage.
3. Solar works, even in overcast conditions.
Solar panels utilize IR, UV, and visible rays from the sun that can penetrate through clouds. Although the ef-
ciency of the solar panel will decrease in cloudy conditions, you’ll still becollecting valuable power from the sun.
4. Keep away from shade and windows.
Although you should seek out the shade on sunny days, your solar panels will collect more power when fully
exposed to the sunlight. Windows also have a habit of decreasing efciency. So keep those panels outside and
in the bright sunlight.
5. Proper alignment works wonders.
Keeping your solar panel angled toward the sun can dramatically increase solar efciency. Set it up and let
mother nature do the rest.
6. Troubleshooting
If your devices are not recharged from PS220 follow these steps:
1. Check if the power switch is turned on. If not, press the power button.
2. Check if the battery power is less than 20% on the display. With battery power equal or less than 20%,
PS220 will stop the output to protect the battery pack. Charge the PS220.
3. Verify if your device if suitable for PS220 from the following two points.
a. Please check whether your external device consumes more than the maximum output power of PS220.
b. Some devices with internal batteries, such as laptops or tablets, require higher power during start up.
You might need to charge the internal battery for a time before attempting to start the device.
In such cases, the PS220 may not function a normally.

7. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What type of battery is in a PS220?
PS220 contains a battery pack consisting of 18.650 Lithium-Ion battery cells.
How do I know if my PS220 is charged?
To check the charge level of the PS220, refer to the LCD Battery Display. When lit up, you’ll see a percentage
number which shows the left over capacity of your device. It is OK to use your PS220 even when it’s not fully
charged.
Can I charge the PS220 while supplying power at same time?
Yes and no. The DC outputs support simultaneous charging and discharging. Please note, however, that this
only makes sense with a remaining battery capacity of more than 10%. The AC output will not work while the
device is charging.
Can I take my PS220 on a plane?
No, you can’t. The airline regulate that power banks over 100 Wh can’t be taken on a plane because power
banks capacities over 100 Wh may lead to accidents during ying.
How can I estimate the runtimes for my charging devices?
PS220’s LCD display is an advanced feature designed to help you better understand power and monitor your
consumption. The input side reects the amount of power PS220 is receiving while it’s charging. The ouput side
indicates the amount of power the devices you have plugged in are pulling out of the PS220.
Calculate like this:
215 Wh / power of the device = running time (hrs)
How do I know if my device will work with the PS220?
Firstly, you’ll need to determine the amount of power your device requires. This may require some research on
your end, a good online search or examining the user guide for your device should sufce. To be compatible
with the PS220, you should use devices that require less than 100 W.
Secondly, you will need to check the capacity for the individual output ports. For example, the AC port is moni-
tored by an inverter that allows for 100 W of continuous power. This means if your device is pulling more than
100 W for an extended period of time, the PS220’s inverter will shut off.

Why does PS220 not charge?
•Make sure, that if you are charging from a wall outlet you are using the charger provided.
•Make sure, that if you use a solar panel that it is 15~18VDC type and no more than 80W capacity.
•Make sure, that if you are charging from a car or boat that the engine is running during charging.
Why does PS220 not automatically recharge if you accidentally disconnect and then reconnect again
immediately?
•Make sure, that you are using the correct charger.
•If the current or voltage is too high, PS220 will engage its automatic protection feature.
•Disconnect charger and restart, it should function normally.
Why does the screen turn off when the PS220 is fully charged?
PS220 automatically turns the screen off to save power. Restart the PS220 and the screen should turn on.
Why will the PS220 not turn on when DC Button is pressed?
The battery voltage may be too low. Charge PS220 by adapter through DC input port.
Why is there no output from the “DC Output” after turn on, when PS220 has been operating nor-
mally?
Conrm that the load does not exceed the 12V/5A rating. If the load rate is more than 5A, the Power Pack’s
automatic protection feature will activate. Reset your Power Pack and it should then function normally.
How long will the PS220 run or recharge my device?
Here are some common devices and their watt-hour requirements.
Device Lithium Power from PS220-ion
5W LED Light ~43 hours
Smartphones (5,5 Wh) ~39 recharges
Laptop (60 Wh) ~3,5 recharges
Tablet (33 Wh) ~6,5 recharges
Drone (68 Wh) ~3 recharges
When you’re deciding on what to power from your PS220 recharge, do some research into your device’s wat-
tage consumption.
NOTE
The above data are to be used only as reference points.
The approx. values were determined with an ambient temperature of 25°C and fully charged battery.
These values may vary, depending on the manufacturer of the electric device, unit, etc.

10. Service life of lithium ion batteries
Charge, supply current and store between 0 and 45 °C.
Using the battery at temperatures exceeding the lower and upper limits reduces the battery‘s running time.
Do not connect a continuous load of more than 100 W.
The unit‘s output stops automatically in case of overloading, since it reduces the running time of the battery.
Continue to charge the battery after it has charged completely.
Pay attention to the indicated capacity. Do not charge the battery once it has been fully charged or the charging
process has been concluded. This otherwise reduces the service life of the lithium battery.
Switch off the unit if it is not being used.
Unnecessary power consumption also reduces the running time of the lithium battery.
Fully charge the battery prior to placing it in storage.
Charge the power supply unit till its full prior to lengthy periods of non-use for storage and recharge the unit
at least once a year. After prolonged storage, it may be necessary to charge and discharge the battery several
times in order to reach full capacity.
11. Disposal and recycling
Lithium ion battery
As soon as the end of the battery‘s service life is reached, the entire lithium ion battery can
be recycled. Do not open or disassemble the unit.
Electric device
Old electric devices may not be disposed together with normal household waste.
According to the directive 2012/19/EU, the device must be disposed of in a controlled
manner at the end of its service life. The recyclable materials contained in the unit shall be
sent to recycling to reduce the burden on the environment.
This unit contains lithium ion batteries. These are hazardous materials and are subject to specic transport and
handling regulations. Lithium ion batteries may ignite or explode if handled incorrectly. For the safe disposal of
the unit, contact your dealer or our customer service center.
The unit may be taken to a collection point for electronic waste or a recycling center, which accepts devices
with lithium batteries. Contact a collection point or your local municipality for more information and indicate
that the unit contains lithium batteries.
Package
The product package consists of recyclable materials. Dispose of these in an environmentally friendly manner
and sort the materials in the provided collection systems.
