Howtouse

PlacetheadapterintheprogrammingslotoftheML2iorML3controller,but onlywhentheunitisswitchedoﬀ.

ConnectaUSBscktotheadapter.TheadapterwillbeoperatedusingthedisplayandkeyboardoftheML2ior

ML3controller.



WithoutUSB‐scktheML2iorML3willgivethemessage"NOUSB"inthedisplay.Inthiscase,someaddional

oponsaresllavailable.WhenaUSBsckisconnectedtheML2iorML3controllerstartsupwiththemessage

"PROGSOFT".



Usethe'up'and'down'keystostepthroughthemenuorchangethesengs.Usethe'enter'keytoconﬁrmchoic‐

es.Usethe'codeselect'keytoreturntothemenu.



PreparaonsUSBsck

OntheUSBsckadirectory"CARRIER"mustbecreated.Inthisdirectory,thesowareandconﬁguraonﬁles

(*.M2Xand*.ML3)canbeplaced.Theretrieveddataﬁles(*.DCX)willbeplacedbytheadapterintothesub‐

directory"DOWNLOAD".Theadapteritselfcreatesthisdirectory

ifthisdirectorycannotbefound.



Menuopons



Loading soŌware ("PROG SOFT")

ThisistheﬁrstoponaertheML2iorML3controllerstartsup.



Aerpressingthe'enter'key,alistofavailablesowareﬁleswillbedisplayed.Ifnovalidsowareﬁlesarepre‐

sent,themessage"NOFILES"appears.



Selecttheuploadﬁleusingthe'up'and'down'keys.Press'enter'toconﬁrmyourchoice,theuploadwillstart.

Thedisplayshows"PROG"/"SOFT"intheﬁrstsegmentandtheprogresspercentageinthesecondsegment.

Whenuploadingisﬁnishedthedisplayshows"PROGDONE",or

incaseofafailure"PROGERR".



Seƫng conﬁguraƟon ("SET CONF")

Withthisopontheconﬁguraoncanbeset.Theconﬁ guraonistakenfromtheconﬁguraonﬁlescalled

CFxxxxxx.M2X(wherexxxxxxisthedate).Atleastoneoftheseconﬁguraonﬁlesmustbeinthedirectory

"CARRIER"ontheUSBsck.

Ifnot,themessage"NOFILES"appearsonthedisplay.



Aerpressingthe'enter'key,achoicecanbemadeoutofconﬁguraonﬁlesontheUSBsck.Themostrecent

ﬁleisshownﬁrst.Aerchoosingaﬁle,aseleconfromthelistofconﬁguraonscanbemade.Aer

loadingthe

conﬁguraonﬁlethedisplayshowsthemessage"EEPRMDONE".



Themostimportantfunconsoftheadapterare:

Downloading data ("RETR DATA")

WiththisoponthestoreddatafromtheML2iorML3controllercanbewrientotheUSBsck.Thefollowing

Aerselecnganoponthedownloadingstarts.Thedisplayshows"RETR"/"DATA"intheﬁrstsegmentandthe

progresspercentageinthesecondsegment.Whenthedataretrievaliscomplete,thedisplayshows"RETR

DONE";orincaseofafailure"RETRERR".Ifthereis

novaliddatapresentintheML2iorML3controllerthedis‐

playshows"NODATA".

Seƫng container ID ("SET ID")

WiththisoponthecontainerIDcanbeset.TheIDwillbedisplayedfromrighttole.Themostrightcharacter

inthedisplaycanbechangedwiththe'up'and'down'keys.Becausethischaracteronthedisplayhasafew

extrasegments,allleerswill

beproperlydisplayedhere.Someleerswillbelegibleworsewhenscrollingfur‐

ther.Usethe'enter'keytoconﬁrmacharacter;use'codeselect'togoback.Thelastdigit(checksum)isauto‐

macallycalculated.Oncompleonthedisplayshows"IDDONE".



Seƫng date and Ɵme ("SET TIME")

Withthisoponthedateandmecanbeset.Successivelyyear,month,day,hoursandminutescanbeset.On

compleonthedisplayshows"TIMEDONE".

TesƟng outputs ("SET OUTPT")

Withthisoponthe14relayoutputsoftheML2iorML3controllercanbemanuallyenergized.Therelaywillbe

energizedaslongasthe'enter'keyispressed.



TesƟng display

Withthisoponthedisplaycanbetested.Whenthe'return/supply'keyispressedallsegmentsofthedisplay

andallLED’swillgooﬀ,whenthe'°C/°F'keyispressedallsegmentsandLED’swillgoon.Thisworksaslongas

thekeyispressed.

Aerreleasingthekeys,thenormaldisplaydatawillbedisplayedagain.



OPTIONAL Serialnumber corrupƟon ﬁx, ERR1 ("PROG SN") 

ThisfeatureisonlyavailablefortheML3controllerandonlywhentheoﬃcialCarrierTransicoldﬁle

(ML3_serial_number_xxxx.bin)isplacedinthe“CARRIER”directory.Aerpressingthe'enter'key,youareable

toﬁxtheserialnumber,butonlywhencorrupted.Pleasefollowthemanufacturesguidelines/instrucons.



OPTIONAL UpdaƟng USB adapter ﬁrmware ("PROG UHA") 

Whenasowareerrorisdiscoveredoranewfeatureisadded,weneedtoupdatethesowareoftheadapter.

Thiswillbeannouncedonthewebsite(www.usbhostadapter.com).Viathiswebsite,youdownloadthelatest

ﬁle(xxx.bin)anddropthisontheUSBsckinthe

“CARRIER”directory.TheUHAwillautomacallyrecognizethis

ﬁleandacvatethe“PROGUHA”menufuncon.Aerpressingthe'enter'key,thesowarewillbeloadedinto

theUHA.Aerthecompleonoftheupdateoftheﬁrmware,theUSBadapterwillreset

itself.Adisplaymessage

"PROGSOFT"indicatestheadapterisreadyforuseagain.



Readadapterﬁrmware

Bypressingthe'alt.mode'key,theinternalﬁrmwareversionoftheUSBadapterwillbedisplayed.



Problems

Adisplaymessage"USBERR"indicatesadaptercannotreadtheUSBsck.PossiblytheUSBsckisfaultyorofa

wrongtype.TheadapterdoesnotsupportFAT12ﬁlesystem(onlyusedatUSBsckswithasizeof32MBorless).



Adisplaymessage"CHIPERR"indicatesthattheadapteritselfdoesnotfunconproperly.Possiblythiscanbeput

rightbyswitchingthepoweroﬀandonagain;otherwisetheadaptermaybedefecve.


