If the preinstalled operating system on your computer is
WindowsXP,whenyoustartitupforthefirsttime,thesystemwill
perform the tasks of user information collection and final
configuration. You need to read the following carefully to ensure
youroperationcangoon
smoothly.
Whenthesystemisbooted,readthewordsonthescreencarefully.
To use Windows XP, you must get licensed at first. Read the
End User License Agreement carefully. Only after you have
acceptedthisagreement,theinstallationcontinues.
Thesystemwillaskyoutosetupthename
anddescriptionof
this notebook computer, set up the Internet access, register your
computertoMicrosoft(Youcandecidetoregisterornotbyyourself)
andsetuptheusernamesforthecomputer.
When you type in all the necessary user information, the
system will complete the final configuration. By simply
following
the instructions, you can easily complete the entire setup process
stepbystepandthenotebookcomputerwillbereadyforuse.

Bydefault,theNovoKeyistheOnekeyRecoverykey.
Itisusedto
activatethe“OnekeyRecovery”application. Whenthecomputeris
poweredoff,presstheNovoKeytoenterintothesystemrecovery
application. You can recover , backup or uninstall the system

Caution:Makesureyouhavealreadybackedupthedatain
the hard drive. The system recovery will reform at
theharddriveandrestoreittofactorysettings.

4.Camerabutton
IfyoucomputerequippedawebcameraandEasyCapturesoftware
is installed on your computer, press this button to launch this
programandthenworkasacamerakey.
Youcanalsoselfdefinethebutton,ifthere’snowebcameraonyour
computer.
5.Mutebutton
The Mute button enables you to mute the sound from your
computer.
6.Shuttlebutton
This Shuttle control is associated with Lenovo Shuttle Center
software.TousetheShuttleCenter,youfirstinstalltheEasyButton
driver,andthenrefertothebelowdescriptions.

7.Builtinmicrophones
The builtin microphones capture sound and voice when they are
usedwithanapplicationprogramcapableofhandling
audio.
8.TVstatusindicator
TheindicatorstayslitwhenthemodelhasTVtuner.
9.Systemstatusindicators
Your computer has system status indicators: Device Access, Caps
LockandNumericLock.
(1)DeviceAccess
Aharddiskdriveoranoptionaldriveisbeingusedtoreadorwrite
data.Whenthisindicatorisblinking,do notputthecomputerinto
standby mode, remove the device from the bay, or turn off the
computer.
(2)CapsLock
CapsLockmodeis
enabled.Youcanenterallalphabeticcharacters
(AZ) in uppercase without pressing the Shift key. To enable or
disableCapsLockmode,presstheCapsLockkey.
(3)NumericLock
The numeric keypad on the keyboard is enabled. To enable or

disablethekeypad,pressandholdthe[Fn]key,andpresstheNum
Lockkey.
10.Computerdisplay
The computer adopts 15.4ʺ wide ThinFilm Transistor (TFT)
fullcolordisplay.Itprovidesclearandbrillianttextandgraphics.
11.WirelessLANandBluetoothswitch
SlidethelatchrighttoenablethewirelessandBluetoothswith,and
then you can turn on/off Wireless LAN and Blluetooth by press
Fn+F4/F5key.
WirelessLAN&Bluetoothindicatorstatus:
z Purple: Both the wireless and Bluetooth features are on and
readyforuse.
z Blue:Thewirelessfeature
isonwhiletheBluetoothfeatureis
off.
z Amber:TheBluetoothfeatureisonwhilethewirelessfeatureis
off.
Dataisbeingtransmittedwhentheindicatorisblinkingorstaying
lit;differentwirelesscardmodelmayshowalittledifferent.
Simplyslidelefttoturnoffthe switch,and
thenboth wirelessand
Bluetoothareoff.

Hint: Wireless LAN and Bluetooth are select models to
marketingrequirements.Itwillextendtheoperating
time of battery if the Wireless LAN or Bluetooth

Caution:Do not use the wireless communication function in
the hospital or nearby any electronic medical
equipment! The radio waves of the wireless card
might cause the electronic medical equipments out
offunctionandresultinseriousaccident.

Caution: Avoid interfering with other electronic equipment

Slide the latch right to enable the subwoofer function. Equipped

Movethe pointer andselect or activate items on thescreen. There
are two buttons that perform like mouse buttons. After the driver

2.Powerjack
The AC adapter cable connects to the computer power jack to
providepowertothecomputerandchargethebattery.
Caution: Use only the model of AC adaptor that comes with
the computer. Using the wrong adaptor might
damageyourcomputer.
Caution: The AC adaptor can automatically adjust to any
voltage from 100 to 240volts and to a frequency of
either 50 or 60 hertz, enabling you to use the
computer in almost any region. The power
connector jack and power cord jack might vary in
differentcountries.Makesurethat
theACadaptor
is correctly connected to the power source. Wrong
connectionmightdamageyourcomputerandresult
infireaccident.

Caution: Be careful not to put the telephone line into the
Ethernet connector. The telephone line uses higher
voltage than the LAN cable; it might damage your
computer.
