TheSimradPI50systemisdesignedtobecontrolled

byacommercialmaritimecomputer.Thiscomputer

mustbebasedontheMicrosoftWindows®7operating

system.Itmustfurtherbedesignedforruggeduse,

andshouldbeabletowithstandthevibrationsand

movementsofavessel.

Thecomputerisnormallymountedinthewheelhouse.

NotethatthecomputerisnotastandardpartofthePI50delivery.Simradmayprovidea

TheSimradPI50usesacustombuiltSensorReceiver.

Trawlhydrophone

Thehullmountedhydrophonefortrawlingoperationshasa50degreeshorizontalbeam

anda30degreesverticalbeamtoprovidethePI50withoptimalreceptionfromthe

sensorsonabottomorpelagictrawl.

Thisspecicbeampatternisespeciallysuitedfortrawlingandthewidecoveragearea

reducestheneedforcarefulalignment.

permanentlypoweredup.IfyouarenotusingthePI50foralongperiodoftime,

disconnectthepowersupply.

2Powerupthecolourdisplay.

4Switchoffthecolourdisplay.

5SwitchofftheSensorReceiver.

TheSensorReceiverisnotttedwithanon/offswitch.Y oumayleavetheunit

Likemostcomputerizedapplications,thePI50isoperatedusingamouse(ortrackball)

andanoptionalkeyboard.

Important

Inthismanual,thephrase“click”meansthatyoushallplacethecursoroverthespecied

button,eldorfunction,andpresstheleftmouse(ortrackball)buttononce.Thephrase

“double-click”meansthatyoushallpressthemousebuttontwicerapidly.

Thephrase“press”meansthatyoushallpressaphysicalbuttonwithyournger,for

exampleacharacterbuttonortheEnterkeyonthekeyboard.

Cursor

Themouse(ortrackball)controlsthecursormovementonthePI50presentation.By

movingthecursoroverthevariousinformationprovidedonthedisplay,andclickingthe

leftmousebutton,youareabletocontrolalloperation.

Tip

Ifyouareleft-handed,theWindowsoperatingsystemallowsyoutoredenethemouse

buttons.Youcanthenchoosetoclickwiththerightbutton.

Theshapeandpurposeofthecursorchangedependingonitslocation.

Thepresentationofthevariousviewsaremade

automatically,andthesizeofeachviewdependsonthespaceavailable.WhennoTrend

viewsareopen,theSensorviewswillstretchfromthelefttotherightedgeofthe

presentation.WhenaTrendviewisopened,itwillpositionitselfontheleftside,and

thesizeoftheSensorviewswillbereducedbyremovingtheHistoryeld.Ifadditional

Trendviewsareopened,theywillbepositionedontopofeachother,andthevertical

sizeofeachviewisadjustedautomatically.

TheorderoftheSensorviewsisdenedbythesettingmadeintheSelectSensorsdialog

box.ThelocationoftheTrendviewsdonotfollowhisorder.Thersttrendviewlls

theentireverticalspace,thenextareplacedontopoftherstinthesameorderthey

areopened.
