IfaSISsystemisconnectedtoalocalareanetwork,datasecurityisimportant.
EquipmentmanufacturedbyKongsbergMaritimeisfrequentlyconnectedtothevessel's
localareanetwork(LAN).Whenyouconnectacomputertoalocalareanetworkyouwill
alwaysexposethedataonthatcomputer.Allothercomputersconnectedtothesame
networkmaybeabletoaccessyourdata.Severalthreatsmayimmediatelyoccur:
•Remotecomputerscanreadthedata.

unwantedsoftware.
Usually,twoparametersareusedtodenethethreatlevel:

KongsbergMaritimehasnoinformationregardingthecompletesysteminstallationon
anyvessel.SystemsprovidedbyKongsbergMaritimeareregardedasstand-aloneofine
systems.Theyarestand-aloneeventhoughtheymaybeconnectedtoanetworkforsensor
interfacesand/ordatadistribution.
Note
NonetworksafetyapplicationsareinstalledonKongsbergMaritimecomputers.The
computersarethereforenotprotectedagainstviruses,malwareorunintentionalaccessby
externalusers.
SecuringtheSISsystemitselfhasnomeaningunlessthereisapolicyinplacethatsecures
allcomputersinthenetwork.Thispolicymustincludephysicalaccessbytrainedandtrusted
users.Thecustomer/enduseroftheSISsystemwillalwaysbeinchargeofdeningand
implementingasecurity,policyandprovidingtherelevantnetworksecurityapplications.
Note
KongsbergMaritimewillnotacceptanyresponsibilityforerrorsand/ordamagescausedby
unauthorizeduseoforaccesstotheSISsystem.
IfyouwishtoconnecttheSISsystemtotheship'slocalareanetwork,youmustimplement

PU-parameters(Installation-andRuntime-parametersforthetransducers)arekept.The
operatorshouldinspectandsetAutomaticstartupofechosoundersto1,intheStartup
optionsforsystemfoundITools->ParameterSetup.
Note
Installingapreviousversionofprogrammustbedonebyperformingacompleteprogram
installation.
Donotreplace.exe-lesonlyasthismaycausethesystemtomalfunction.
