Instruction Sheet
GD1
Digital Gauge
A) ZERO TRIMMING:
Remove the nylon screws to access adjustments.
If it becomes necessary to re-adjust “zero” on the display, this can be accomplished by turning the trimpot
marked “z” just to the left of the On/O push button. An ideal zero is indicated by a reading of 000 with an
intermittently flashing “-” sign.
A jewelers screwdriver or an eyeglass repair screwdriver is a suitable instrument. Be careful NOT to touch
the “S” pot to the right of the push button as changing this adjustment will invalidate the factory calibra-
tion.
B) USE OF AUTO-TARE FEATURE:
When the GD1 is first turned on you will notice that the display flashes for the first 4 seconds. If the On/O
button is pushed and held during this period, any existing reading will be reset to zero. This allows the user
to “Tare-Out” a starting weight in hydraulic weighing applications. To remove the Tare feature turn the unit
o and back on again and do not push the On/O button during the flashing period.
C) BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
The batteries can be replaced simply by removing the single screw at the top of the battery door. Slide the
old batteries out and replace the 2 Duracell DL2450 or Sanyo CR2450 batteries or equivalent observing
the polarity signs. Replace the battery door and secure with the self-tapping screw. (Do not overtighten).
BATTERY REPLACEMENT 9 VOLT:
The battery can be replaced simply by removing the single screw at the top of the battery door. Remove
the old battery, unplug the cable connector and replace with Eveready type 216 or equivalent. Replace the
battery door and secure with the self-tapping screw. (Do not overtighten).
NOTE: For best accuracy, re-calibration per instruction D should be performed at the time batteries are
replaced.
D) RE-CALIBRATION:
This procedure requires a known pressure source of at least ±0.1% accuracy in order to fully utilize the
accuracy potential of the GD1. If not available, gauge can be returned to Simplex for re-calibration.
1. With no pressure applied (port vented), adjust zero as per instruction in A.
2. Apply full scale pressure to the pressure port and adjust the span (“S”) pot until display reads the
correct pressure.
3. Recheck zero and re-adjust the zero (“Z”) pot if required.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until no further adjustment is required.
