ACTUATOR ROTATION
Factory setting for rotation is clockwise.
1. Determine and verify the rotation of the mixing
valve. (The  at portion at the end of the shaft of the
valve is an indicator re ecting the location of the inter-
nals of the valve.)
Acceptable installation orientation for VM-GIB
actuator.
2. Depending on the piping arrangement and require-
ments, rotate the valve to a fully clockwise or counter-
clockwise position.
3. If the valve rotates clockwise-to-open or coun-
terclockwise-to-open, the actuator will require proper
alignment.
4. Remove the Shaft adapter locking pin from the
actuator and position the Shaft adapter onto the align-
ment mark on the actuator. Depending on the rotation
to open, position the Self centering shaft adapter.
a. Clockwise-to-open
Place the shaft adapter right next to the alignment
mark keeping the mark visible.
b. Counterclockwise-to-open
Place the shaft adapter right next to the alignment
mark keeping the mark visible

MECHANICAL RANGE ADJUSTMENT
6. Insert the stem extender to the valve and tighten
the extender with an Allen key.
7. Loosely pre-assemble the nuts for the M8 x 2.5”
bolts through the Mounting Plate.
8. Align the bolts to the face plate holes on the valve
body and tighten the bolts.
9. Tighten the nuts to the Mounting Plate.
9b. For 5” and 6” valve bodies use the M8 coupler and
bolt (j & k) in the assembly of the Mounting Plate.
MOUNTING OF ACTUATOR
10. Loosely assembly the 3/16” bolt to the mounting
plate.
11. Slide the actuator onto the shaft and at the same
time insert the 3/16” bolt head into the bottom slot of
the actuator.
12. Tighten the Shaft adapter onto the extender with
a 10mm or 13/32” socket and then tighten the 3/16”
nut. As the shaft and nut is tightened make sure the
actuator stays parallel to the faceplate of the mixing
valve.
Final Assembly
MANUAL OVERRIDE
To rotate the actuator without power present, perform
the following steps:
1) Hold down the PUSH
button.
2) With an adjustable
wrench grasp either the
stem extender or self-
center shaft adapter to
manually rotate the valve.
3) Release the PUSH
button.
Note: If there is no load, the actuator will hold the
new position. If load conditions exist, the actuator will
rotate.
Once power is restored, the actuator returns to auto-
matic control.
The angular rotation is adjustable between 0° and
90° at 5° intervals. With no power to the actuator, the
adjustment of rotation is done by:
1) Remove the actuator
from the valve.
2) Remove the shaft locking
clip and adapter from the
actuator.
3) Return the actuator gear
train to the “0” position by
following the clockwise or
counterclockwise shaft rotation steps below.

MECHANICAL RANGE ADJUSTMENT, cont’d
Clockwise-to-open
a. Insert the shaft adapter to the right as close as
possible to the raised stop.
b. Hold down the PUSH button and rotate the shaft
adapter to the left until it stops.
c. Release the PUSH button
d. If the shaft adapter is not resting against the
left raised stop, remove the adapter and insert it
against the left stop.
e. Place the position indicator to “0” on the outside
scale.
Counterclockwise-to-open
a. Insert the shaft adapter to the left as close as pos-
sible to the raised stop.
b. Hold down the PUSH button and rotate the shaft
adapter to the right until it stops
c. Release the PUSH button.
d. If the shaft adapter is not resting against the right
raised stop, remove the adapter and insert it
against the right stop.
e. Place the position indicator to “0” on the inside
scale.
4. Determine the angle of rotation for the valve’s rota-
tion. Subtract the angle of rotation from 9.
5. Remove the shaft adapter and insert it with the posi-
tion indicator pointing to mark on the scale calculated
in the previous step
6. Attach the clip.
7. Manually rotate the valve stem to its ‘0’ position
8. Return the actuator to the stem extender and
tighten the shaft adapter to the extender.
WIRING
All wiring must conform to NEC and local codes
and regulations
Use earth ground isolating step down Class 2
transformers. Do not use auto transformers.

The maximum rating for a Class 2 step-down
transformer is 100VA. It is recommended that
no more than 10 actuators are powered by one
100VA transformer.
CAUTION
Do not parallel wire GIB actuators with any other type
of actuator.
Direction of Actuator Rotation
If the actuator turns counterclockwise to open, reverse
the 6 & 7 wires at the controller
