End-of-life product recycling

Grass Valley’s innovation and excellence in product design also extends to

the programs we’ve established to manage the recycling of our products.

Grass Valley has developed a comprehensive end-of-life product take back

program for recycle or disposal of end-of-life products. Our program meets

the requirements of the European Union’s WEEE Directive and in the United

States from the Environmental Protection Agency, individual state or local

agencies.

Grass Valley’s end-of-life product take back program assures proper disposal

by use of Best Available Technology. This program accepts any Grass Valley

branded equipment. Upon request, a Certiﬁ cate of Recycling or a Certiﬁ cate

of Destruction, depending on the ultimate disposition of the product, can be

sent to the requester.

Grass Valley will be responsible for all costs associated with recycling and

disposal, including freight, however you are responsible for the removal of

the equipment from your facility and packing the equipment ready for pickup.

Safety Summary

This information is intended as a guide for trained and qualiﬁ ed personnel who are

aware of the dangers involved in handling potentially hazardous electrical / electronic

When preforming service, be sure to read and comply with the warning and caution

notices appearing in the manuals. Warnings indicate danger that requires correct

procedures or practices to prevent death or injury to personnel. Cautions indicate

procedures or practices that should be followed to prevent damage or destruction to

equipment to property.

WARNING

THE CURRENT AND VOLTAGES PRESENT IN THIS EQUIPMENT ARE DANGEROUS. ALL

PERSONNEL MUST AT ALL TIMES FOLLOW THE SAFETY REGULATIONS.

ALWAYS DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE REMOVING COVERS OR PANELS.

NEVER MAKE INTERNAL ADJUSTMENTS, PERFORM MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE WHEN

ALONE OR WHEN FATIGUED.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY ENSURE THAT THE POWER IS DISCONNECTED.

USE ONLY FUSES OF THE TYPE AND RATING SPECIFIED.

CAUTION

To prevent risk of overheating, ventilate the product correctly.

Extraction Tool

Part number 1688076

Supplier: Farnell

To disconnect the connector, insert the end portion of the tool under the connector

ﬂ anges an pull off vertically, in the direction of the connector mating axis.

To mate the connector, the mating axes of both connectors must be aligned and the

connectors can be mated. The “click” will conﬁ rm fully mated connection.

Do not attempt to insert on an extreme angle.

On this ﬂ owchart, locate the part that has to be replaced.

Disassemble the unit part by part till you reach the part to be replaced.

After replacement, assemble the unit in reverse order.

Replacements

Removal of the Microphone Clamp Assy

1 ->Turn the Thumb Screw counter clockwise, to release the Microphone Assy

How to open the Viewﬁ nder Housing

1 ->Unscrew the ﬁ ve screws on the bottom side.

2 ->Place the Viewﬁ nder with the Top Housing down.

3 ->Open the housing, be carefull for the internal wiring.

First remove:

Bottom Housing Assy

1 ->Disconnect the ﬂ atcable from the LCD Housing assy to X6119.

2 ->Disconnect the Power/Control part of the Flying Lead to X7.

First remove:

3 ->Disconnect the Y, R-Y and B-Y coax connectors to X1, X2 and X3

4 ->Use the special Extraction Tool to pull off the connectors.

5 ->Remove the coax cables from the cable guide

Flying Lead Cable Assy

1 ->Unscrew two screws to release the Grounding Clamp.

1 ->Remove the three Knobs for Peaking, Contrast and Brightness

2 ->Disconnect the ﬂ atcable to the ID board on X420

3 ->Unscrew the two screws which hold the IO board.
