MODEL KA7EVH VENTLESS HOOD
GENERAL
The KA7EVH is a vent-less hood that replaces the need for a conventional hood over a KA7E rotisserie
oven when installed and interlocked to the oven with hood kit accessory. The rotisserie oven’s grease laden
vapors are captured by the hood with a three stage ltration system.
The hood must be installed and operated with the designed airow, lters and construction in accordance with
this manual. Hood top must never be used for storage as it will block air ow and inhibit proper operation.
LISTINGS
The KA7EVH hood is certied to NSF standard 2. It is ETL Listed to Standard UL-710B and
EPA test method 202 when installed in accordance with installation instructions provided by Hobart, and
National Fire Protection Association Standard “NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection
of Commercial Cooking Operations.” This hood is not provided with an integral re extinguishing system.
Authorities having jurisdiction should be consulted as to the requirements for this equipment with respect to
re extinguishing systems such as the need for eld installed systems in accordance with NFPA 96.
ACCESSORIES (ALSO SEE FILTER SECTION)

LOCATION
Installation location must allow adequate clearances for servicing and proper operation of hood and rotisserie.
Hood requires 18" clearance to ceiling. Allow adequate left side clearance to access lters in hood. Refer
to KA7E INSTRUCTIONS 0F-035521.
UNPACKING
Immediately after unpacking the hood, check for possible shipping damage. If the hood is found to be
damaged, save the packaging material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.
INSTALLATION
After hood is mounted to oven, hood must be interlocked to oven with accessory Hood Kit or accessory
Hood Sacking Kit.
Refer to KA7EVH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, 0F-025333.

Hood Switch Plate
Fan ON switch position
Turns the hood fan on. The hood fan runs continuously.
Fan AUTO switch position
The hood fan turns on automatically when the oven on/off rocker switch is turned on.
The hood fan turns off automatically 30 minutes after the oven on/off rocker switch is turned off. The auto
switch position is recommended for energy savings.
Power Light (GREEN)
This (GREEN) light indicates that there is power to the hood.
Error light: Airow (YELLOW)
This (YELLOW) light indicates that there is a low or high airow condition. Because the hood is not operating
properly, the interlock control turns the oven heaters off.
The oven stops cooking. The oven display will indicate cooking but the heaters are off.
If the airow error cannot be immediately corrected, manually abort the cook cycle.
Incorrect airows are a result of clogged or missing lters, loose access panels, intake or discharge blockage. This
condition must be corrected before normal operation of the oven and hood can resume. (See Troubleshooting.)
Airow Reset Button
Push the airow reset button after correcting an airow error condition (clogged or missing lters, loose
access panels, intake or discharge blockage). Once the reset button has been pushed, the internal airow
switch will verify that the airow is correct and the (YELLOW) light will go out.
Error light: High Temp Light (RED)
If this light turns on, call Hobart Service.
This (RED) light indicates that the hood has overheated. Because the hood is not operating properly,
the interlock control turns the oven heaters off.
The oven stops cooking. The oven display will indicate cooking but the heaters are off. Manually abort the
cook cycle. Cooking cannot be resumed until the problem is corrected by Hobart Service.

FILTERS
The hood is provided with a three-stage air purication system, which consists of a grease bafe lter,
a HEPA lter and a charcoal lter. This hood has been tested and complies with EPA Test Method 202,
Determination of Condensable Particulate Emissions from Stationary Sources. Use only the lters listed in
the chart below. Failure to use proper lters will void the warranty of the hood. Filters must be installed and
positioned as shown below in Figure 1.

Stage 1 – Grease Bafe Filter
Figure 2.
HE Grease Filter
Stage 1 is a grease bafe lter that is used to capture larger grease particulates.
Stainless steel construction provides durability and corrosion resistance. This
lter protects blower equipment and prolongs motor life. These lters are UL
Listed and meet requirements of NFPA96 when properly installed.
The Stage 1 Grease Bafe Filter must be kept clean. Inspect this lter weekly and
clean if necessary; cleaning frequency will depend on cooking loads. Keeping this
lter clean will prolong the life of the other lters. Do not substitute lter for another
brand. Failure to use the proper lter will void the warranty of the hood.

Stage 2 – HEPA Filter
Figure 3.
HEPA Filter
HEPA lters are used to capture smaller particulates. The HEPA lter in this hood
is rated 99.9995% @ .12 Micron PSL/Laser.
When installing lter, make sure the airow arrow on the lter is pointing toward
the blower wheel. Make sure spring loaded clips snap in place. This lter must
be in place per Figure 1.
The Stage 2 HEPA Filter cannot be washed. The life of this lter will depend on
cooking loads and must be replaced as needed. Do not substitute lter for another
brand. Failure to use the proper lter will void the warranty of the hood.
Stage 3 – Charcoal Filter
Figure 4.
Charcoal Filter
Charcoal lters are used for odor control. The lter used in this hood contains
high quality, virgin coconut shell with superior pore size distribution specically
selected for its wide absorptive capacity.
When installing lter, make sure the airow arrow on the lter is pointing toward
the blower wheel. Make sure spring loaded clips snap in place. This lter must
be in place per Figure 1.
The Stage 3 Charcoal Filter cannot be washed. The life of this lter will depend on
cooking loads and must be replaced as needed. Do not substitute lter for another
brand. Failure to use the proper lter will void the warranty of the hood.

MAINTENANCE
Disconnect the electrical power to the machine and follow
lockout/tagout procedures. There may be multiple circuits.
Be sure all circuits are disconnected.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
1. All surfaces must be kept free of grease build-up for sanitation reasons and to reduce the risk of re.
2. Grease Bafe Filter must always be installed and cleaned to reduce build-up of grease in the exhaust
duct and to allow for proper exhaust airow.
3. HEPA and Charcoal Filters must be replaced on a regular basis depending on usage.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
1. Remove the Grease Bafe Filter and clean in a dishwasher weekly.
2. Clean bafe lter area (including inside of cover) weekly while bafe lter is removed for cleaning. Use
soft cloth and warm soapy water. Rinse and wipe dry.
3. Clean and dry exterior hood surfaces.
Do not clean with a high pressure hose
Do not use iron wool (Brillo or SOS pads), scrapers, or spatulas to clean hood!
Do not use the following substances on or around the hood:
Chlorine or chlorine based substances.
Acids (e.g. acetic, hydrochloric, sulfuric).
Chloride based substances (e.g. mercuric chloride, ferric chloride).
QUARTERLY MAINTENANCE
1. Remove and inspect HEPA Filter. Replace if necessary.
2. Remove and inspect Charcoal Filter. Replace if necessary.
3. While lters are removed, clean hood ductwork to prevent an accumulation of grease.
4. Inspect the blower wheel and remove any grease or debris.
5. Inspect the hood access panels for damage or missing seals that may cause air leaks.
