About this Manual

This manual provides you with instructions on installing your TYAN

B7018Y290D2. This Manual is intended for experienced users and

integrators with hardware knowledge of personal computers.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Before installing and using TYAN B7018Y290D2, take note of the following

precautions:

·Read all instructions carefully.

·Do not place the unit on an unstable surface, cart, or stand.

·Do not block the slots and opening on the unit, which are provided for

ventilation.

·Only use the power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not

sure, contact the power company.

·The unit uses a three-wire ground cable, which is equipped with a third

pin to ground the unit and prevent electric shock. Do not defeat the

purpose of this pin. If you outlet does not support this kind of plug,

contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet.

1.1 About the TYAN B7018Y290D2

Congratulations on the purchase of the TYAN B7018Y290D2, a highly optimized

rack mount barebone system. The B7018Y290D2 is designed to support up to (2)

Xeon 5500 Series processors and up to 96GB RDIMM or 48GB UDIMM

DDR3-800/1066/1333 memory per node. Utilizing advanced technology from

Intel

, the B7018Y290D2 system provides scalable 32/64-bit computing, high

bandwidth memory design, and lightning-fast PCI-E bus capabilities. The

B7018Y290D2 not only manages today’s IT environments, but also flexibility for

future application usage.

TYAN

®

also offers the B7018Y290D2 in a version that can support up to sixteen

hot-swap hard drives (eight per node). The B7018Y290D2 uses latest chassis

designs which features a solid mechanical enclosure and robust features. All of

this provides the B7018Y290D2 with the power and flexibility to meet the needs

of today’s server applications.
