1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
engagetheparkingbrake,andremovethekey.
2.Removethelocknut,bolt,spring,andspacerholding
thegrassdeectortothepivotbrackets(Figure1).

WARNING
Anuncovereddischargeopeningcouldallowthe
machinetothrowobjectsatyouorbystandersand
resultinseriousinjury.Also,contactwiththeblade
couldoccur.
Neveroperatethemachineunlessyouinstalla
coverplate,amulchplate,oragrasschuteand
catcher.
Makesurethatthegrassdeectorisinthedown
position.
1.Alignthedischarge-chutebracketwithdeckbracket
andplacethenewspacerandspringontothegrass
deector(Figure2).
Note:InstalltheL-endofthespringbehindthedeck
edge.

UsingtheChuteGate
CAUTION
Thechutegatedoesnotsealthedischarge
opening.Grassandobjectsmaybethrowntoward
bystanders,resultinginseriousinjury.
Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionand
donotpointitatanyone.
Removeobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,etc.
fromthemowingarea.
Neverputyourhandsorfeetunderthemower
ordischargearea.
Nevertrytoclearthedischargeareaormower
bladesunlesstheengineisoffandyouremove
thekey.
Usethechutegatetotemporarilystopordeectgrass
clippingsawayfromsidewalks,parkinglots,patios,or
anywhereyoudonotwantgrassclippingstoland.Thechute
gatehas3positions:open,45degreeangle,andclosed.
Rotatethechutegatehandletotheopenpositiontoallow
grassclippingstodischarge(Figure11).
Rotatethechutegatehandletothe45degreeangleto
deectthegrassclippings(Figure11).
Rotatethechutegatehandletotheclosedpositionto
stopthegrassclippings(Figure11).
