This product is intended for use with extractor fans
with or without a timer.
It enables the fan to be isolated and subsequently
disconnected for repair or maintenance.
It has a provision for a locking device to ensure
that it cannot be accidentally switched back on.
When the switch is in the ‘off’ position, a hole at
each end of the switch actuator is exposed (fig. 1).
The lugs in the jaw of the locking device must be
fully engaged in the holes to ensure correct
operation and fitment of padlock (fig. 2).

1. To prevent the risk of electrocution it is
essential to turn off the mains electricity supply
before commencing work.
2. Do not work on this product live.
3. To ensure a safe installation, this product
should be installed by a competent person
(e.g. a qualified electrician) in accordance with
these instructions and the appropriate clauses
of the current edition of the IEE wiring
regulations (BS 7671).
It is essential that all connections are made as
instructed, that cables are not stressed and that
terminal screws are fully tightened.
4. The 3 Pole Fan Isolator can be Installed in
bathrooms, but only under the strictest of
conditions. It must be out of reach of any
person using the bath or shower.
For guidance see the current edition of the IEE
wiring regulations (BS 7671).
5. Ensure that all electrical connections are correct
and fully secured and the product is screwed
securely to its mounting box before turning the
mains supply on.
6. To avoid fire hazard do not exceed the
maximum rated current of the switch.
Where an earth wire is present it should be
connected to the terminal inside the box.
IMPORTANT
Refer to Safety Instructions (B), before starting
work.
1. Remove frontplate fixing screws from their
location on the back of the product.
2. Ensure the mounting box is firmly secured in
place. Minimum internal box depth - 15mm.
3. Strip back outer cable sheath and trim wires to
the appropriate length to allow cable ends to
reach terminals.
4. Carefully strip insulation by 7 - 8mm.
5. Connect the wires to the correct terminals as
indicated by the diagrams below and over
page, and the fan manufacturers instructions.
If replacing a switch, take note of original wire
and terminal positions to aid reconnection.
IMPORTANT
6. Tighten all terminal screws securely.
Carefully push wired unit back into the
mounting box, ensuring cables are not trapped
or pinched.
7. Locate and tighten frontplate fixing screws.
Do not over tighten screws, to do so may
damage frontplate or box threads.
The completed installation should be tested in
accordance with the current IEE wiring
regulations by a qualified electrician.
