Safety rules and recommendations for the Installer

Please keep this instruction manual in a safe place, along with the warranty card,

purchase receipt and carton for future reference.

• Read this guide before installing and using the appliance.

• During the installation of the indoor and outdoor units, access to

the working area should be forbidden to children.

Unforeseeable accidents could happen.

Make sure that the base of the outdoor unit is rmly xed.

• Check that air cannot enter the refrigerant system and check for refrigerant

leaks when moving the air conditioner.

• Carry out a test cycle after installing the air conditioner and record the

operating data.

• The ratings of the fuse installed in the built in control unit are 3.15A / 250V for

220V type and 3.15A/125V for 110V type.

• The user must protect the indoor unit with a fuse of suitable capacity for the

maximum input current or with another overload protection device.

• Ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to that stamped on the rating

plate. Keep the switch or power plug clean. Insert the power plug correctly and

rmly into the socket, thereby avoiding the risk of electric shock or re due to

insucient contact.

• Check that the socket is suitable for the plug, otherwise have the

socket changed.

• Do not install the appliance at a distance of less than 50cm from inammable

substances (alcohol, etc.). Or from pressurised containers (e.g. spray cans).

• If the appliance is used in areas without the possibility of ventilation,

precautions must be taken to prevent any leaks of refrigerant gas

from remaining in the environment and creating a danger of re.

• The packaging materials are recyclable and should be disposed of in the

separate waste bins. Take the air conditioner at the end of its

useful life to a special waste collection centre for disposal.

• Only use the air conditioner as instructed in this booklet. These instructions are

not intended to cover every possible condition and

situation. As with any electrical household appliance, common sense and

caution are therefore always recommended for installation, operation and

maintenance.

• The appliance must be installed in accordance with applicable

national regulations.

• Before accessing the terminals, all the power circuits must be disconnected

from the power supply.

• The appliance must be installed 2.5m above the oor

• Do not try to install the conditioner alone; always contact specialised technical

personnel.

• Cleaning and maintenance must be carried out by specialised technical

personnel. In any case disconnect the appliance from the mains electricity

supply before carrying out any cleaning

or maintenance.

• Ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to that stamped on the rating

plate. Keep the switch or power plug clean. Insert the power plug correctly and

rmly into the socket, thereby avoiding the risk of electric shock or re due to

insucient contact.

• Do not pull out the plug to switch o the appliance when it is in operation,

since this could create a spark and cause a re, etc.

• Never remain directly exposed to the ow of cold air for a long time. The direct

and prolonged exposition to cold air could be dangerous

for your health. Particular care should be taken in the rooms where there are

children, old or sick people.

• If the appliance gives o smoke or there is a smell of burning, immediately cut

o the power supply and contact the Service Centre.

• Have repairs carried out only by an authorised Service Centre of the

manufacturer. Incorrect repair could expose the user to the risk of electric

shock, etc. The prolonged use of the device in such conditions could cause re

or electrocution.

• This appliance has been made for air conditioning domestic environments and

must not be used for any other purpose, such as for drying clothes, cooling

food, etc.

• The packaging materials are recyclable and should be disposed of in the

separate waste bins . Take the air conditioner at the end of its useful life to a

special waste collection centre for disposal.

• Always use the appliance with the air lter mounted. The use of the conditioner

without air lter could cause an excessive accumulation of dust or waste on the

inner parts of the device with possible subsequent failures.

• The user is responsible for having the appliance installed by a qualied

technician, who must check that it is earthed in accordance with current

legislation and insert a thermomagnetic circuit breaker.

• Unhook the automatic switch if you foresee not to use the device for a long

time. The airow direction must be properly adjusted.

• The aps must be directed downwards in the heating mode and upwards in

the cooling mode.

• Only use the air conditioner as instructed in this booklet. These instructions

are not intended to cover every possible condition and situation. As with any

electrical household appliance, common sense and caution are therefore

always recommended for installation, operation and maintenance.

• Ensure that the appliance is disconnected from the power supply when it will

remain inoperative for a long period and before carrying out any cleaning or

maintenance.

• Selecting the most suitable temperature can prevent damage to the appliance.

Safety rules and prohibitions

• Do not bend, tug or compress the power cord as this could damage it. Electrical

shocks or re are usually due to a damaged power cord. Only specialised

technical personnel must replace a damaged power cord.

• Do not use extensions or gang modules.

• Do not touch the appliance when barefoot or parts of the body are wet or damp.

• Do not obstruct the air inlet or outlet of the indoor or the outdoor unit. The

obstruction of these openings causes a reduction in the operative eciency of

the conditioner with possible consequent failures or damages.

• In no way alter the characteristics of the appliance.

• Do not install the appliance in environments where the air could contain gas, oil

or sulphur or near sources of heat.

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning

use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

• Do not climb onto or place any heavy or hot objects on top of the appliance.

• Do not leave windows or doors open for long when the air conditioner

is operating.

• Do not direct the airow onto plants or animals.

• A long direct exposition to the ow of cold air of the conditioner could have

negative eects on plants and animals.

• Do not put the conditioner in contact with water. The electrical insulation could

be damaged and thus causing electrocution.

• Do not climb onto or place any objects on the outdoor unit.

• Never insert a stick or similar object into the appliance.

It could cause injury.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the

appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its

service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.

4. Emergency operation switch

In case the batteries in the remote controller are worn out or the remote controller is

at faulty, use the Emergency operation switch ( ).

5. Horizontal louvre blade

Hold the knob and move the deector to change right/left airow direction. Be

careful not to adjust the deector during operation as the fan is rotating at a high

speed and may pinch your ngers.

Every time the switch is pressed, it changes in this sequence:

COOL --> HEAT --> STOP

The following table shows the condition of set temperature, fan speed and

deector during emergency operation.

6. Remote controller

NOTE:

• To operate the air conditioner the remote control should be within

6 meters from the indoor unit with a clear line of sight.

• Remove the batteries if the remote controller is not to be used for long periods

of time.

• Never placed a mixed (ie. new and used) set of batteries into the remote

controller. Always dispose of used batteries in accordance with local

council regulations. Do not tear the batteries apart or throw them into a re

which will lead to explosion.

• In this illustration, all displays are ON for the purpose of explanation. Some

models may not show all these indications.

7. Timer Operation

Setting the ON/OFF timer operation

1. When the unit is on, press the Timer button once to start timer o function and

“1” will be shown on the display. Every press of this button increases the AUTO-

OFF time by 1 hour (24 hours at most). When the time accumulates to “24”, press

the Timer button again and the air conditioner will quit timer function.

2. When the unit is o, press the Timer button once to start the timer on function

and “1” will be shown on the display. Every press of this button increases the

AUTO-ON time by 1 hour (24 hours at most). When the time accumulates to “24”,

press the Timer button again and the air conditioner will quit the timer function.

3. The display of AUTO-ON/OFF time will be decreased by one hour.

Cancelling the ON/OFF timer operation

1. Press the Timer button until the time accumulates to “24” (as in the steps

mentioned above).

2. Press Timer button once more and the air conditioner will quit the timer

function. The time and “hours on” or “hours o” will disappear on the remote

controller display. You can also press the CANCEL button to quit timer function.

NOTE:

• TIMER ON/OFF operation must be set again after a power failure.

• Once the AUTO-ON/OFF time is xed, if you want to change it, you should cancel

the previous AUTO-ON/OFF timer operation.

• If you press the TIMER button once incautiously after the AUTO-ON/OFF time is

xed, the system will count time anew based on the current display time.

Operating Modes

AUTO Mode

In this mode, the air conditioner can automatically adjust the room temperature to

decide the most suitable temperature. At the start of operation, the air conditioner

will automatically select the operation mode according to the room temperature. The

following table shows the conditions which are set at start up.

• Press the Manual Swing button or Swing button to change the air ow direction.

• Press the Fan Speed button to change the Fan Speed of indoor unit.

• Press the Temperature Adjustment button to change the set temperature.

Dry Mode

In this mode, the air conditioner automatically sets the room temperature and this

temperature will not appear on display. The Temperature Adjustment button and Fan

Speed button are not functional in this mode.

• Press the Manual Swing button or Swing button to change the air ow direction.

Fan Mode

In this mode, the outdoor unit does not operate. The indoor fan alone operates.

• Press the Manual Swing button or Swing button to change the air ow direction.

• Press the Fan Speed button to change the fan speed of indoor unit.

Heat Mode

• Press the Manual Swing button or Swing button to change the air ow direction.

• Press the Fan Speed button to change the fan speed of the indoor unit.

• Press the Temperature Adjustment button to change the set temperature.

Sleep Mode 123

Normal Mode:

Whilst the air conditioner is in Cool and Dry mode

The indoor fan runs at low speed. After one hour of operation the set temperature

will increase by 1˚C. One hour later, the set temperature will increase by 1˚C once

more. The unit will then continue operating at 2˚C above the set temperature.

Whilst the air conditioner is in Heat mode

The indoor fan runs at low speed. After one hour of operation the set temperature

will decrease by 2˚C. One hour later, the set temperature will decrease by 2˚C once

more. The unit will then continue operating at 4˚C below the set temperature.

Sleep Mode 1:

Whilst the air conditioner is in Cool and Dry mode

When set to 23˚C≥st≥16˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 1 start up, the set temperature will increase by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C above the set temperature.

8 hours later, the set temperature will decrease 2˚C; the unit will then continue

operating at this temperature.

When set to 24˚C≥st≥27˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 1 start up, the set temperature will increase by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C above the set temperature. 8

hours later, the set temperature will decrease 2˚C; the unit will continue operating at

this temperature.

When set to 28˚C≥st≥31˚C:

The unit will continue to operate at the set temperature.

Whilst the air conditioner is in Heat mode

When set to 18˚C≥st≥16˚C:

The unit will continue to operate at the set temperature.

When set to 19˚C≥st≥25˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 1 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C below the set temperature. 8

hours later, the set temperature will increase 2˚C; the unit will continue operating at

this temperature.

When set to 26˚C≥st≥31˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 1 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C below the set temperature.

8 hours later, the set temperature will increase 2˚C; the unit will then continue

operating at this temperature.

Sleep Mode 2:

Whilst the air conditioner is in Cool and Dry mode

When set to 23˚C≥st≥16˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 2 start up, the set temperature will increase by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C above the set temperature.

7 hours later, the set temperature will decrease 1˚C; the unit will then continue

operating at this temperature.

When set to 24˚C≥st≥27˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 2 start up, the set temperature will increase by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C above the set temperature. 7

hours later, the set temperature will decrease 1˚C; the unit will continue operating

at this temperature.

When set to 28˚C≥st≥31˚C:

The unit will continue to operate at the set temperature.

Whilst the air conditioner is in Heat mode

When set to 18˚C≥st≥16˚C:

The unit will continue to operate at the set temperature.

When 19˚C≥st≥25˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 2 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C below the set temperature. 7

hours later, the set temperature will increase 1˚C; the unit will continue operating at

this temperature.

When set to 26˚C≥st≥31˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 2 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C below the set temperature.

7 hours later, the set temperature will increase 1˚C; the unit will then continue

operating at this temperature.

Sleep Mode 3:

Whilst the air conditioner is in Cool and Dry mode

When set to 23˚C≥st≥16˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 3 start up, the set temperature will increase by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C above the set temperature.

When set to 24˚C≥st≥27˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 3 start up, the set temperature will increase by 1

every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C above the set temperature.

When set to 28˚C≥st≥31˚C:

The unit will operate at the set temperature all along.

Whilst the air conditioner is in Heat mode

When set to 18˚C≥st≥16˚C:

The unit will operate at the set temperature all along.

When set to 19˚C≥st≥25˚C:

During the 2 hours after Sleep mode 3 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 2˚C below the set temperature.

When set to 26˚C≥st≥31˚C:

During the 3 hours after Sleep mode 3 start up, the set temperature will decrease by

1˚C every hour. The unit will continue operating at 3˚C below the set temperature.

Cleaning and Maintenance

IMPORTANT: Clean the front grille and air lters at least once in every two weeks.

Before cleaning, be sure to stop operating the air conditioner and turn o the

breaker.

NOTE: The illustrations shown below are only for descriptive purposes. Please always

refer the actual product purchased while using these instructions.

Clean the Front Grille and Air Filters

1. Open the front grille by pulling the tabs on both sides and lift it up until it stops

with a click. Pull out the air lters.

2. Remove all dust on the front grille and air lters with a vacuum cleaner or brush.

(If the dust does not come o easily, wash the air lters with gentle detergent

dissolved in clean, warm water below 45

˚C

3. Dry them thoroughly in the shade.

4. Once dry, insert the front grille and air lters back into their original position and

close the front grille.

5. Wipe the surface of the unit with moist cloth and then wipe it again with dry

cloth.

CAUTION: Do not use benzene, solvent, alkaline or other chemical products during

cleaning.

If you will not be using the air conditioner for a long, idle period

1. Set the fan going for a few hours to dry out the inside thoroughly. (Choose the

Cool mode or Heat mode and select the highest set temperature, then the fan

rotates.)

2. Switch the air conditioner o and unplug it from the wall socket. Clean the lters

and outer surface.

3. Take out the batteries from the remote controller.

Cleaning and Maintenance continued

If you have not used the air conditioner for a long time

1. Clean lters and replace them to the original position. Clean the indoor and

outdoor units with a clean, soft cloth.

2. Insert the power plug and make sure the earth wire not be loose.

3. Put the batteries into the remote controller.

IMPORTANT:

• Air inlets and outlets should not be covered/blocked. Double check they are not

before using the air conditioner.

• For cleaning, do not use gasoline, benzene, thinners of any kind, grinding

powder, detergent, alkaline cleaning agents, insecticide etc. as they can damage

the units.

Troubleshooting

The following fault cases are served as a guide to assess a problem and take correct

action on it.

Problem Possible Solutions

Air conditioner does not operate - Is it a power failure?

- Has the power plug been unplugged?

- Has the circuit breaker or fuse shut o?

- Are there any obstacles or disturbance

supply oscillators in the room to disturb

the signal from remote controller?

Remote controller is not available

and does not display

- Check whether the batteries in remote

controller are usable.

- Check whether the batteries are

positioned correctly

Operation does not start when

I/O button is pressed after

operation was stopped

- This is a way to protect the air conditioner.

Please wait 3 minutes and try again

After operation terminates,

the vane appears not to close

completely

- Stepping motor could not nd the Reset

point. Please restart the air conditioner

and stop again

Cooling and heating eect is not

good.

- Is the temperature setting appropriate?

- Are the air lters clean?

- Are there any obstacles blocking the inlets

and outlets of the indoor and outdoor

units?

- Is Sleep mode used during the daytime?

- Is the indoor fan speed set low?

- Are doors and windows closed?

Air will not immediately blow out

at the start of Heat mode

- Please wait as the air conditioner is

warming up

If the power supply is suddenly

cut o, when the power is normal

again, the air conditioner will

automatically resume the in same

mode of operation as before the

power failure

- This is called auto-restart function.

(This function is only accessible for certain

types of air conditioners with the function

of auto-restart)

Problem Possible Solution

Indoor unit fan stops

during heating

The air conditioner is deicing and it takes

10 minutes at most. (It freezes when the

outdoor temperature is low and humidity

is high.) It automatically resumes operation

about 10 minutes later

Cracking sounds can be heard -

The friction sounds are caused by expansion

and contraction of front grille resulting

from temperature changes

You can hear the sound of

running water

- It is the sound of owing refrigerant inside

the air conditioner.

- Sound of accumulated owing water on

the Heat-exchanger.

- Sound of frost melting on the heat

exchanger

Indoor unit makes “bush” and/or

“click” sound

- Click sound is made by the switching of

the fan or compressor. The“bush” sound is

made by the switch of refrigerant owing

inside the air conditioner

When the unit is set to directional

swinging at low angle on Cool

mode: the deector will/may

auto swing to its maximum angle

for 3 minutes and then resume to

swing at the low angle

- This function prevents the production of

condensed water. It is a normal operation

for the air conditioner

Indoor unit gives odour - Air conditioner may have absorbed odours

from wall, carpet, furniture and in turn

blows it out

- Follow the Cleaning and Maintenance

procedures

Outdoor unit leaks water -

During cooling, connecting pipe or pipe

connector will cause the moisture content

condensation due to the low temperature.

- During heating or defrosting, melting

water and water vapor will run out.

- During heating, water on heat exchanger

will drop
