Precautions
Toensurethescannerreachesitsbestperformance,thefollowingpointsneedtobe
noticedwhenmountingthescanner:
a. Donotplacethescannerunderdirectsunlightoranyotherbrightlightsource
illuminating.
b. Whenplacingthebarcodelabel,onemustbecarefulnottoovertilt,skewand/or
pit
chthebarcode(Refertofigure2)
c. Donotplacethedeviceatspeculareflectionposition.TheLEDlightofthescanner
reflectsdirectlybackonthescannerifitisplacedatspeculareflectionposition.
AstothenatureofCCDsensor,itwillnotbeabletoreadan
ybarcodes.
d. Thebarcodelabelmustbeplacedwithintheeffectivedepthoffield(D.O.F.)since
itistheeff ectiv ereadingdistanceforthebarcodefromthescanner.Forthebest
placingposition,pleaserefertotheDecodeDepthofFielddrawing.(Figure3)
MaintainingtheScanner
Thescannerisdesignedforlongtermtroublefreeoperationandrarelyrequiresany
maintenance.Onlyanoccasionalcleaningofthescannerwindowisnecessaryinorder
toremovedirtandfingerprints.
Wipethescanwindowwithasoftlintfreeclothandanonabrasivecleanertoavoid
scratchinganddamagin
gthescanwindow.Thescanwindowmaybecleanedwhile
thescannerisrunning.

BlinkMode
Afterthescannerhasbeeninactiveforaperiodoftime,thelightbeamwould
automaticallystartblinking.Tostopthescannerfromblinking,simplypresentan
objectclosetothescannerwindoworpressthetestbutton.TheBlinkModefeature
isincludedtoreducepowerconsumptionandtoextendsc
annerlife.Usethe
barcodesinpage27tochangetheblinkmodesettings

Ontopofthescanmodule,thereisa“Test”button,anditcontrolstwofunction
modes:

Whenthemoduleisintriggermode,thereadinglightbeamremainsoffandscanning
isonlymadewhenthe“Test”buttonisdepressed.
Intriggermode,simplyaimthescanmoduleatthebarcodeandpressthe“Test”
buttontotriggerscanlightbeamanddecode.
PerformanceTestMode
Toenterintoscanperformancetestmode,pressthe“Test”buttontwicequickly.The
LEDindicatorswillbeturnedoffandyouwillhearthreeshortbeepsounds.This
indicatesthatthemodulehassuccessfullyenteredthetestmode.Placethebarcode
labelwithinitsscanrangetogetthebest sca
nperformanceresult.
TheresultisindicatedwithLEDlightswithdifferentreadrateasbelow:

Pressthe“Test”buttononcetoexitthescanperformancetestmodeandreturntoits
originalsetting.
TheLED will stayon for1 secondevery time you turn on the module. You
mayonlyusethelightbeamtoscanthe“StartOfConfiguration”barcodein
this second. This feature is designed for users to change settings without
pressingthe“Test”buttonwhenthemoduleisintrig
germode.
