Description
The Econet GTA gateway unit (here-on indicated as gateway unit) is an electronic
device to be housed on the DIN-RAIL support, able to convert the ModBus RS485
RTU commands, coming from a remote controller, on activation of valves mounted
in a cleaning system that uses Turbo Econet BUS technology.
The following functionalities will be managed:
- Management of firing of an individual valve actuator;
- Management of firing of several valve actuators simultaneously;
The gateway unit will be able to manage:
- the signalling of valve actuation anomalies;
- setting communication parameters;
- the programming of registers for customised use;

Warning Symbols Used in the Manual
The indications regarding safety are highlighted using the following symbols:
Attention - Danger Warning - Generic
Risk Hazard Electric Current
Dispose of according to the WEEE Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment Directive
Installation Regulations and Warnings
Ü Protect the equipment from direct sunlight.
Ü Do not position the device near heat sources and electromagnetic fields.
Ü Mount the equipment to the wall at least 60 cm from the floor.
Ü In a clearly visible place, which is easy to reach.
Ü Connect the equipment to supply lines different to those used for motor drives or other large power devices
that could generate network disturbances or instability.
Ü The appliance electric power supply must be supplied by an external, type-approved power supplier unit, with
24Vdc 30W output, protected by a 230Vac~ 30mA differential circuit breaker and a 230Vac~ 10A bi-polar
magnet circuit breaker, positioned in a place that is easy to reach.
Ü Before intervening on the appliance to perform any operation, deactivate the magnet circuit breaker.
Ü For electrical operations, always remove the voltage and wait 30 seconds for the internal capacitors
to discharge before opening the container. When finished, close the device before turning on power.
Ü Make sure you are in a safe atmosphere before using the equipment for any type of operation.
Ü Use flame-proof cables with minimum section of 0.75mm² certified and compliant with IEC60227 or IEC60245
to connect the power supply voltage.
Ü Use flame retardant cables with a minimum section of 0.75 mm² for all input control signals.
Ü The terminal board must not be a mechanical anchorage point of the wires.
Ü Any use not foreseen in this user manual and improper use of the device may cause damage to the same and
possibly to the connected equipment.
Ü Moreover, misuse or tampering with equipment could cause damage to people.
Ü The gateway unit does not release potentially toxic or hazardous substances for health and the environment.
Ü No part with dangerous voltage is normally accessible.
Do not use the control unit before reading and understanding this manual.

Gateway Unit address setting
Before connecting the Gateway unit to the RS-485 RTU ModBus network, a unique
device address must be set, so that the other peripherals of the same network can
recognise it and manage it, thus preventing network conflicts.

Using the 4

Gateway Unit Reset
The gateway unit has a general reset button, indicated with K1 and located on the
right hand corner of the circuit board, which allows the unit to be rebooted if
necessary.
By pressing and holding for at least 3 seconds, all temporary registers of the gateway
unit are Reset and the same resumes operations after approx. 10 seconds.

ModBus Communication Port Configuration
The gateway unit uses a standard, isolated type, RS485 communication port (Physical
layer), for connection to a RTU ModBus network, on which other devices are present
e.g. PLC, Personal Computer, Monitors, HMI, I/O modules.
On commissioning, the communication port of the gateway unit is configured as
follows:
Parameter
Value
Using the 4
-
position dip
-
Switch DIP1, present on the
circuit board, an RS485 network address can be assigned
to the unit. This address must be unique in order to
prevent conflicts with other units present on the same
communication network.

Valves activation
The valve activation modes are available in the following ModBus registers:
Valve actuators to fire
The following registers contain the value corresponding to the position of the valve
actuator to be fired, in the chain.
In single mode, the gateway unit will activate firing of the actuator, whose position is
loaded into the actuator 1 register (0x0012).
In multi-firing mode, the gateway unit will activate firing of the actuators, whose
positions are loaded into the actuator 1 and actuator 6 registers.
Practically, in multi-actuation mode, a firing group of 6 pseudo-simultaneous
positions is managed, separated by the delay time, which is set in the 0x0011
register.

Valve actuator error 1..127
The following registers contain the signalling "flags" corresponding to the error status
of the valve actuators commands. In the event of activation error, the signalling flag
of the corresponding valve will pass from 0 (zero) to 1.
In the event of an error of at least one valve actuation, LED 4 will remain on with a
flashing light.
If, during the successive commands of the same valve actuator, the operating status
has been restored, the flag swill b taken back to 0 (zero) and LED 4 will return to its
original functions.

Note:
The register contains a calibration value memorised during the factory inspection
phase. Alteration of the value will lead to a unit operating anomaly.
Current shunt threshold programming
The 0x0030 register represents the comparison value in order to recognise when the
valve actuator firing has energised the coil and, therefore, is absorbing current from
the main power supply.
The value is represented in bit ADC and the programming procedure is as follows:
1. Write the value 0 (zero) in the 0x0030 register;
2. Activate firing with time equal to 5000 msec;
3. During firing, read the value of the 0x0005 register (current peak value during firing) and check that
bit 3 of the 0x0002 register has become 1 (shunt error);
4. Divide the peak value read by 2 and write it in the 0x0030 register (current threshold value for
checking whether it exceeds during firing);
5. Activate firing again with time equal to 5000 msec;
6. Check that bit 3 of the 0x0002 register has become 0 (zero).
7. The current shunt has been calibrated!

Sequence activation cycle
All management of timing relative to the management of the cleaning cycle are under
the responsibility of the monitoring system that is connected to the gateway unit.
The unit limits its task of interpretation of the commands received, according to the
following logical flow diagram:

Maintenance
The gateway unit does not have replaceable parts.
All other repairs must be carried out by the manufacturer.
To clean dust and dirt from the surfaces, rub delicately with cotton or another
type of soft cloth soaked in a non-aggressive, non-abrasive detergent. Use
those for glass surfaces, do not use solvents or aromatic compounds and do
not clean using abrasive sponges.
Disposal
Do not disperse in the environment after use. Dispose of the product according to
current regulations for the disposal of electronic equipment.
This device is used in a dust collector system and, therefore, it is part of a fixed
installation.
Warranty
The warranty has a duration of 2 years. The company will replace any electronic
component deemed defective exclusively at our workshop, except in the presence
of contrary agreements to be authorized by the company.
Exclusions From Warranty
The warranty is void in the case of:
ù Signs of tampering and unauthorised repairs.
ù Incorrect use of the equipment that does not comply with the technical data.
ù Incorrect electrical connections.
ù Failure to comply with the installation standards.
ù Use beyond EC standards.
ù Atmospheric events (lightning, electrostatic discharge), over voltages.
ù Clogged air connections. Damaged tubes.
