6.1 SP2 Release
Avaya is pleased to announce the availability of the Avaya B5800 Branch Gateway
Release 6.1 SP2 Maintenance Release. This is a scheduled Maintenance Release
addressing a number of field issues found in the Avaya B5800 Branch Gateway 6.1 SP1
GA releases.
1 Overview
This Maintenance Release incorporates new software for:
B5800 Branch Gateway Core Switch 6.1(22)
SoftConsole 4.2(40)
The B5800 Branch Gateway Administration and application software can be
downloaded from the Avaya Support Website:
http://support.avaya.com
This software is for use with the B5800 Branch Gateway IP500v2.

3 B5800 Branch Gateway Resolved Field Issues
In the table below, the Clearquest (CQ) number refers to the internal bug tracking
database used by Avaya SME. When a customer field issue has been confirmed to be
a product or documentation issue, it is logged in this system, and the CQ number used
internally within Avaya for tracking the resolution of this issue. There may be several
customer field cases raised against a single CQ issue.

NOTES on specific field issues:
CQ123777 Native licenses are required for digital phones that are not plugged in
In order to prevent auto-created users on unused digital ports unnecessarily acquiring licenses,
AutoCreation of users is disabled.
NoUser source number ENABLE_USER_AUTO_CREATION’ can be used to enable auto
creation.
CQ123894 Can't route calls using Request URI on SM line
NoUser source number ‘ROUTE_SM_CALLS_USING_R_URI is added. When present, calls
received from SM trunk(s) will be routed using the request URI, instead of the “To” header
CQ41983 Modification to allow the SM port number to be changed
When establishing connection to SM the receiving port needs to be configurable in some
deployments. A NoUser source number is added: ‘SIP_SM_TCP_SOURCE_PORT=x’.
If the NoUser source number is not specified, the connecting port is the same as the one on SM
side (5060). If 0, an rport number is automatically generated, otherwise the specified port “x” is
used.

3.2 Softconsole 4.2(26) resolved field issues
This release of Softconsole does not contain any fixes for field related issues.
4 Technical Notes
4.1 Upgrading B5800 Branch Gateway core software
When upgrading to Release 6.1 SP2 from a previous version an upgrade license is not
required.
The table below shows the necessary steps that must be taken to upgrade your B5800
Branch Gateway system to Release 6.1:

4.2 Upgrading B5800 Branch Gateway Administration
The B5800 Branch Gateway Administration installer will detect previous installed
versions and upgrade automatically. It is not necessary to restart the PC after
upgrading unless instructed to do so. Before upgrading the B5800 Branch Gateway
system software ensure a backup of the system configuration exists.
4.3 B5800 Branch Gateway Expansion Unit Compatibility
All B5800 Branch Gateway expansion units must also be upgraded to the version
supplied with the Administration software.
4.4 Upgrading SIP 96x1 Phones
B5800 can be configured as an HTTP server to support firmware upgrade for 96x1 SIP
phones. Refer to “96x1 Phones SIP Firmware Download in B5800 Centralized Branch
Deployments”.
When upgrading SIP phones,
NoUser source number
ENABLE_SIP_FIRMWARE_DOWNLOAD’
should be configured.
When upgrading SIP phones with current firmware version prior to 6.0 SP2, upgrades
should be limited to 10 concurrent phones. When upgrading from 6.0 SP2 or later,
simultaneous upgrade of 50 phones is supported.

4.5 Voice over IP Quality Monitoring
