Note, this is the same button and toggles between the two
screens.
The screen below shows the rst of two calibration screens used
on the HM-5820. The rst four inputs displayed are as follows:
Input 1: Cell Pressure (0-200 psi)
Input 2: Back Pressure (0-200 psi)
Input 3: Pore Pressure (0-200 psi)
Input 4: Load (0-2,000 lbf)
The second channel series (channels 5-8) are available when the
toggle button is pressed. The second series of channels are set
as follows:
Input 5: Displacement (0-2.000 in)
Input 6: Cell Volume (0-250 cm³)
Input 7: Base Volume (0-250 cm³)
Input 8: Top Volume (0-250 cm³)

Humboldt recommends having your HM-5820 professional-
ly calibrated at least annually. However, due to the unusual
procedure for volume calibration, it has been included in this
manual.
In order to view the volumes calibration page, you need to
push the Volumes button at the bottom of the screen. How-
ever, calibration for volume on this is a bit different than what
we are used to since it is based on a motor count rather than
measuring the actual volume. In order to calibrate the vol-
ume, the following steps should be followed:
1. Ensure that the piston in the volume chamber to be cali-
brated has been moved down to the maximum extent.
2. Select the HOME button then select CALIBRATIONS.
3. Select the volume sensor to be calibrated (Cell, Base, or
Top) by clicking the corresponding CALIBRATE button.
This will open the SENSOR DETAILS window.
4. When prompted, enter the calibration entry passcode
(2-2-2-3-4)
5. In the SENSOR DETAILS window set the capacity to 250
cm³ and set the COUNTS PER LIMIT to 9295.680, then
press the next (right arrow) button.
6. Ensure the CALIBRATION LIMIT is set to 250.0000 cm³,
the LIMITS ON box is checked, and the PER FS OUTPUT
radio button is selected.

Export Calibration via USB
It is a good practice to export all your calibrations to a thumb
drive. In case of a problem this practice allows you to recover
your calibration data quickly. On the screen below, press the
Export Calibration button (1) to select calibrations to export
via USB.
This thumb drive will contain the calibration data for the extra
instrumentation. To use this calibration information, it is rec-
ommended to rst export all your HM-5820’s calibration data
to a thumb drive and then download the additional calibra-
tion data you need for your additional test setups.
