CMP Pool Defender Sacrificial Zinc Anode Bar is a device designed to protect your pool from corrosion caused by electrical currents. It meets NEC SECTION 680.26 (C) REQUIREMENTS. The product includes a copper coil, grounding wire, zinc bar, and plastic cap nut. To install, turn off electricity to the pool pump, remove the existing zinc bar and copper coil, install the new zinc bar and copper coil, and tighten the plastic cap nut. To operate, turn on electricity to the pool pump and check for leaks. Periodically inspect the coil wire and Pool Defender body for debris and buildup.

This product meets NEC SECTION 680.26 (C) REQUIREMENTS, which requires that an
intentional electric bond of a minimum conductive surface area of nine square inches
be installed in contact with the above ground swimming pool water.
ZINC BAR REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Loose and remove the copper plug on the Zinc Anode and
separate the copper coil from the existing pool copper
grounding wire.
2. Remove the SS nut and copper coil on the Pool Defender cover
3. Remove the plastic cap nut, then remove the old Pool Defender
cover and zinc bar assembly. (FIGURE 2)
4. Disassemble the Pool Defender cover and zinc bar. (FIGURE 3)
5. Replace the used Zinc Anode bar. Re-assemble with existing
Pool Defender cover.
6. Install cover & zinc bar assembly. Make sure the cover “ow
arrow” is pointing in the water ow direction.
7. Reinstall plastic cap nut, copper coil, and SS nut. Tighten until
snug, then turn an additional 1/2 clockwise with a wrench.
8. Reinstall the copper lug on the Pool Defender to the existing
pool copper ground wire and tighten.
9. Set multiport valve to lter, turn on electricity to pool pump,
and check for any leaks.
OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
1. Operate and maintain your pool equipment according to
manufacturer instructions.
2. Periodically inspect the coil wire and Pool Defender body for
debris and buildup. Gently clean as needed.

BEFORE YOU START:
Make sure all electricity is shut o at the pool pump & lter is set to CLOSED
Tools Required: Adjustable Wrench
This product must be installed and serviced by a pool and spa professional
in accordance with applicable local and national regulations. These
instructions must always be followed exactly to ensure proper function of
the part.
Turn all power to the pool pump o before servicing the lter.
Use all necessary applicable safety precautions when using the lter.
If any rusting is visible on the protective ground metal wire and or copper
lug, replace the rusted item immediately as per manufacturers instruction.
