Planting a tree is a very rewarding experience as its a very
easy way to increase the value of your home, and you can
enjoy watching it grow and mature to its full potential in the
years to come. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, a non

They clean air and water, slow climate change, ease poverty
and hunger, prevent species loss, and feed the human soul.
All we need to do is plant and care for them. Let’s work
together to make it happen around the world”. Planting trees

About This Variety: This is the dogwood one finds growing at Camp David Presidential retreat in Catoctin
Mountain Park in Maryland, maintained by the US government for use by our president. This smaller ornamental
tree produces showy white spring flowers, which turn red-purple in the fall season yielding to red fruit in the winter
(eaten by birds).
Growing Instructions: Plant where it will receive at least six hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight daily. Before
planting protect the tree from freezing, overheating, drying out or injury. If the roots have dried, soak them in water
about 24 -48 hours before planting. Dig a hole twice the diameter of the root system and two feet deep. Replace
some of the loose soil so that the roots can easily penetrate the soil. Spread the roots on top of the soil, planting it at
soil level. Firm soil and water well. Do not fertilize at planting time.
Care Tip: Great planted with larger evergreens in the background.
Exposure: Full sun
Height: Grows 15-20’ tall
Spacing: Plant 15-20’ apart, ground level
Hardy in: USDA zones 5-9
