through a super speed USB3.0 port or e-SATA port. The device provides USB 3.0
super speed of 5Gbps and e-SATA of 3.0Gbps to reach best data-storage
performance. It supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID10, RAID3, RAID 5, BIG
(Combine) and JBOD (Clear RAID) mode. It is very suitable to store and backup
large amounts of data. The MR-35US3R RAID Enclosure is the perfect solution in
the office or home usage.

2. Operation
2.1 Hard Disk Installation:
Sway from side to side the lock , and pull the doorknob to insert 4 hard
disks. Close the doorknob and the installation will be completed (The step will be
represented in terms of following graphs).
Note: Sway the lock at the instructed point .Now you can open the
doorknob in order to install or unload the hard disk.
In Contrast, when you sway the lock to this point , then you cannot open it.
When you install four HDDs, you will discover that the LEDs are glittering with
blue & red lights in turn for a long time. It can help you check and see whether the
HDDs are installed correctly.
2.2 USB3.0 interface or eSATA interface
Insert 4 hard disks, USB3.0 or eSATA cable and power cable have to be
connected.
2.3 RAID MODE settings
CLEAR RAID or JBOD Mode ()
At first set the MODE switch to Clear MODE. Then keep the SET button pressed
and press the power switch. The HDD LED will glitter in turn blue & red while it
carries on the self-checking. During data transfer the HDD LED glitters in purple
light .When the LED sends blue light, it means that the RAID has been cleared. At
this point you can set up you preferred RAID MODE. If you like, you can use the
CLEAR RAID settings as JBOD mode, too.
1. SET RAID0 MODE
()
Switch to RAID 0 and press SET button. After a few seconds, the computer will
automatically capture an USB device. Then open computer management in order
to initialize and format the HDD. At this point all information will be deleted. During
formatting the HDD, the MR-35US3R HDD LED glitter with purple light. When the
LED send blue light, the format procedure is finished and the RAID 0 mode is
ready to use. In order to initialize, partition and format the HDD, refer to pint 2.5 of
this manual.
2. RAID1/10 MODE ()
Switch to RAID 1/10 and press SET button. After a few seconds, the computer
will automatically capture an USB device. Then open computer management in
order to initialize and format the HDD. At this point all information will be deleted.
During formatting the HDD, the MR-35US3R HDD LED glitter with purple light.
When the LED send blue light, the format procedure is finished and the RAID 1/10
mode is ready to use. In order to initialize, partition and format the HDD, refer to
pint 2.5 of this manual.
3. RAID3 MODE ()
Switch to RAID 3 and press SET button. After a few seconds, the computer will
automatically capture an USB device. Then open computer management in order
to initialize and format the HDD. At this point all information will be deleted. During
formatting the HDD, the MR-35US3R HDD LED glitter with purple light. When the
LED send blue light, the format procedure is finished and the RAID 3 mode is
ready to use. In order to initialize, partition and format the HDD, refer to pint 2.5 of
this manual.
4. RAID5 MODE ()
Switch to RAID 5 and press SET button. After a few seconds, the computer will
automatically capture an USB device. Then open computer management in order
to initialize and format the HDD. At this point all information will be deleted. During
formatting the HDD, the MR-35US3R HDD LED glitter with purple light. When the
LED send blue light, the format procedure is finished and the RAID 5 mode is
ready to use. In order to initialize, partition and format the HDD, refer to pint 2.5 of
this manual.
5. BIG (COMBINE) MODE ()
Switch to BIG Combine mode and press SET button. After a few seconds, the
computer will automatically capture an USB device. Then open computer
management in order to initialize and format the HDD. At this point all information
will be deleted. During formatting the HDD, the MR-35US3R HDD LED glitter with
purple light. When the LED send blue light, the format procedure is finished and
the BIG mode is ready to use. In order to initialize, partition and format the HDD,
refer to pint 2.5 of this manual.
2.4 Rebuild Mode
If in RAID MODE 1, 3, 5 and 10 a HDD is damaged and replaced by a new one,
the MR-35US3R will automatically start the rebuild. You can identify a damaged
HDD by a permanent red glittering of the depending HDD LED and a warning
noise of the device. After you have inserted a new HDD, you can follow the
rebuild procedure of the MR-35US3R by a blue & red glitter of the HDD LEDs.
Next to the rebuild you can go ahead working on the unit and the data transfer is
indicated by a purple glitter of the HDD LEDs. When the LED sends blue light, it
means that the RAID rebuild has been finished.
2.5 Initialization, Partitioning and Formatting
3. NOTES:
3.1 References
1. At first usage please execute the Clear RAID mode, to adjust the unit to
neutral settings.
2. Changing the RAID mode will cause data lost.
3. Please refer to the instructions when switching the RAID mode, otherwise
the execution might fail.
4. Interface of USB or eSATA cannot be used at the same time.
5. When using RAID function, HDDs with the same brand, model and
capacity is recommended.
6. When using RAID function, more than one HDD partition is not
recommended.
7. Windows Vista/7 users can enable GPT when initializing HDD with a total
capacity of more than 2TB.
8. Older OS may not recognize the device if you use a different operation
system than Windows Vista. For more detailed information about GTP,
please visit:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/GPT_FAQ.mspx
9. If you enable MBR by mistake, in order to clean the partition table, you
have to switch another to CLEAR RAID mode and do the RAID mode
switch all over again referring to Setup. Then go back to the RAID mode
you want, repeat the previous actions and enable GPT when initializing
HDD.
10. For Macintosh users: the total capacity of more than 2TB could be
recognized only of the operation system 10.4.11 Tiger or later.
11. Do not connect the device to the SATA on board port of the motherboard.
Either use SATA to eSATA PCI-Express or SATA to eSATA PCI add-on card,
otherwise the PC may not recognize the device.
12. In RAID 1, HDD1 and HDD2 must be installed; otherwise the PC cannot
recognize the device.
13. Rebuild time is based on the capacity, e.g. it takes about 1 hour for 200GB.
14. To take the HDD out from the device, slightly open the door of the tray and
pull it out.
15. If the device takes too long to initialize, please check if the HDD is securely
installed or update the eSATA host driver version.
16. If the transfer rate is not normal, please check if the setting of SATA disk
jumper is 1.5 or 3.0Gbps.
