Before you begin:
Make sure the type of material you use can
be cleaned with either mineral spirits (for oil-
based materials) or a warm water and soap
solution (for water-based materials).
If you are working on an elevated deck,
material could drip through the gaps in the
boards. It is a good idea to have drop cloths
protecting anything (furniture, patio oor)
directly below in case of accidental spatters
or drips.
IMPORTANT: Some oil-based paints require
a stronger cleaning solution than mineral
spirits and should not be used with the
DeckJet. Using a cleaning solution stronger
than mineral spirits may cause damage to
the DeckJet. Check with your paint supplier
to be sure the oil-based paint you have can
be cleaned with mineral spirits.
Parts and Components
Assembly
1. Remove plastic bag from
plunger. Lubricate the plunger
O-rings with petroleum jelly.
2. Insert the plunger into the main
tube. Make sure O-rings do
not twist or cut.
3. Tighten the locking collar.
4. Assemble the pad and brushes.
Note: If you plan to stain
a solid surface (such as a
solid wood porch), do not
attach the small brush.
5. Press the quick-disconnect tabs on
the unit and attach the pad assembly.

1. Filling the
main tube
Start
Important:
During usage, the stain pad will retain material
after normal use, much like a sponge. When
transporting or relling the unit, be aware
that some dripping from the pad may occur,
and that you should protect against any
unintended spatters or drips.
1. Slide the small end of the ll
tube (a) through the hole in
the container lid.
2. Attach the container lid with ll
tube securely to the material
container.
3. Apply a thin layer of petroleum
jelly to the ll tube. This will
help the ll valve slide easily
off the ll tube.
4. Press down and rmly hold
the ll valve onto the ll tube.
5. Pull the plunger to draw the
material into the main tube.
When the tube is full, you
are ready to begin using the
DeckJet.

2. Usage
Loading the pad:
1. Push plunger forward until you see material coming
through the pad. Squeeze Power Trigger for additional
material as needed.
2. Rell the main tube as needed (see Filling the Main
Tube, page 3).
Note: The pad and brush assembly works similar to a
sponge. When nearing the end of your project, make sure
to use as much of the material remaining in the pad in
order to minimize dripping.
General DeckJet Tips:
Surface Preparation
Make sure the surface is clean and dry prior to
staining. It is a good idea to wash the surface with
a high-pressure sprayer prior to applying material.
Make sure the surface has ample time to dry prior to
beginning the project.
Make sure the surface you plan to paint/stain is clean
and free from any debris.
Material Preparation
If you need more than one gallon of material to
complete your project, mix them together to ensure
color uniformity.
Write down the important information from your
material can (color, formula, brand and material type)
for future reference.
Staining the Surface
Place the pad at on the deck boards and begin
staining. Use a back-and-forth motion to completely
saturate the surface. Always nish the stroke toward
the front end of the pad. This will prevent streaking and
ensure an even coating.
Line up the gap in the deckboards (a) with the guide on
the top of the mounting plate (b) as shown below. This
will ensure that the gaps are covered in material.
Note: Move the DeckJet in a gentle back-and-forth
“brushing” motion in order to ensure material seeps into
deckboard gaps.
(a)
(b)
When using the pad and brush assembly, always work
from left side of your work area to the right side of the
work area.
Pump the trigger as needed for more material. Be
careful not to over-saturate the pad as it may drip, slide
on the surface or spatter.
For best results, maintain a steady ow of material to
the pad and avoid allowing it to dry.
Note: A second coat may need to be applied later in
order to acheive full coverage or nish you are looking for.
Note: If you need to stop and take a break, it is
recommended that you stop after staining a complete
board in order to avoid making lap marks.
Note: During extended break periods, place a plastic bag
around the pad and ll valve to keep it from drying out.

3. Cleanup
Start
Before you begin cleaning:
When cleaning the DeckJet, make sure to
use the appropriate cleaning solution for the
type of material used.
If you used latex-based materials, use
warm, soapy water to clean the DeckJet.
If you used oil-based materials, use
mineral spirits.
You will need:
A large bucket or other container that will
hold cleaning solution.
TIP: A large laundry tub lled with warm,
soapy water is ideal for cleanup if you
used latex-based materials.
2. Press the ll valve
onto the ll tube. Push
plunger forward to return
excess material into the
container.
5. Remove ll tube from the
container lid. Install end
of the ll tube into the
valve housing.
7. Remove the ll tube.
Remove the mounting plate.
Submerge the head of the
DeckJet and the ll valve
and pull the plunger in and
out a minimum of 5 times.
8. Clean the remaining
parts (pad and brushes)
by hand using the
appropriate cleaning
solution.
1. Pull plunger back to draw
remaining material from
the pad into the tube.
4. Place the pad and
brushes into a bucket of
the appropriate cleaning
solution.
6. Submerge the ll tube into
the appropriate cleaning
solution and pull the plunger
in and out a minimum of 10
times, or until the solution
coming out of the mounting
plate is clear.
3. Remove the pad and brushes from the
mounting plate.
IMPORTANT: Remove the pad by
gripping the plastic tabs (a) above the
pad. Do not grip the pad foam when
removing, or it could be damaged.

4. Storage
Start
Storage notes:
Proper cleaning and lubrication of certain
components of the DeckJet are critical to
prolonging the life of the components.
If after extended use the plunger has
a tendency to stick, apply a generous
amount of petroleum jelly located on the
end of the plunger (see Lubricating the
components, step 2).
IMPORTANT: When storing the DeckJet,
make sure the ll valve is pointing
downward, and never store the DeckJet
with the ll tube inserted into the ll valve.
Cleaning the fill valve note:
The inner parts of the ll valve
should be cleaned ONLY if you are
experiencing leakage problems, or if
you are unable to draw material into
the main tube.
Lubricating the components
Cleaning the fill valve
1. Turn the locking collar as shown until
the main tube slides easily off of the
plunger.
4. Lubricate the inside of the ll
valve housing on the main tube
with petroleum jelly.
2. Lubricate around and in between the
plunger O-rings with petroleum jelly.
5. Clean and lubricate with
petroleum jelly the indicated
area on the mounting plate.
Note: Be sure to clean and
lubricate the ow valve (a) found in
the end of the pad mounting plate.
Reinstall when nished.
3. Re-insert the plunger back inside the
main tube. Make sure the O-rings
do not twist or cut. Tighten the
locking collar.
6. Reassemble pad and brushes onto
the mounting plate.
1. Unscrew the locking cap (a) on the valve housing.
2. Remove the retainer disk (b) and the duckbill (c)
from the valve housing.
3. Clean these parts using the appropriate cleaning
solution. Lubricate the inside of the duckbill valve
with petroleum jelly.
4. Replace the duckbill (c) and the retainer disk (b).
5. Screw the locking cap (a) back onto the valve
housing.

Troubleshooting
Problem A: There is leakage on the pad assembly.
Cause Solution
1. The O-ring on the pad mounting plate was not cleaned properly. Clean and properly lubricate (see Cleanup and Storage, pages 5-6).
2. Residue on the connecting area inside of the head. Clean out any remaining residue inside the head of the DeckJet.
3. The pad is worn or damaged. Replace the pad*.
4. The ow valve in the pad mounting plate is dirty or worn. Clean and properly lubricate (see Lubricating the components, page 6), or replace.
5. Too much material delivered to the pad. Reduce amount of material delivered to the pad by using the trigger less frequently.
Problem B: Plunger is difficult to pull / push.
Cause Solution
1. The plunger O-rings are not lubricated. Lubricate the plunger O-rings (see Lubricating the components, page 6)
Problem C: The main tube will not fill, or there is leakage from the fill valve.
Cause Solution
1. Residue on the ll valve components. a) Insert the ll tube into the ll valve and twist the ll tube several times to break up the
residue.
b) If the problem persists, refer to Cleaning the ll valve, page 6.
2. Duckbill has become dry and stiff. Lubricate the inside of the duckbill valve with petroleum jelly.
Problem D: Material fails to reach the pad.
Cause Solution
1. The mounting plate ow valve is worn or dirty. Clean or replace the valve
