Munters MEN-CDCS-A1808 is an electronically controlled dehumidifier designed to accurately control and maintain the humidity within a space. It utilizes a microprocessor-based system to monitor and adjust the relative humidity (RH), dew point (Dp °C), or absolute humidity (X gr/kg) levels. The fan modes of the dehumidifier can be adjusted to either continuous (Fan ON), intermittent (Fan INT), or on-demand (Fan DEM), depending on the requirements of the application.

1.2Introduction
1.2.1Humiditycontrol
TheComDrydehumidierisequippedwithasophisticatedmicroprocessorbasedcontrolsystem.This,in
combinationwiththebuilt-inhumidity/temperaturesensorintheprocessairinlet,makesitpossibletoset
boththecontrolandpresentationofthehumiditytoeitherrelativehumidity(RH%),dewpoint(Dp°C)or
absolutehumidity(Xgr/kg).Thecontrolsystemadditionallychecksthetemperaturesbeforeandafterthe
heater,aswellasinthewetairaftertherotor.Ahighsafetylevelisobtainedbyvarioustemperaturesensors.
Toohightemperaturesgivesareductionoftheheaterpower,whileexcessivetemperatureswillmakethe
systemissueanalarmandshutthedehumidierdowninacontrolledway.Forfurtherexplanation,see

NOTE!Thedehumidieralwaysoperatesinautomaticmode(moisturebasedoperation).Asdefaultitwilluse
thebuilt-inhumidity/temperaturesensor,asoptionanexternalsensor.

Therearethreeprocessfanmodes:
FanmodeDescription
[FanON]In[FanON]mode,thedehumidierwillruntheprocessfancontinuously,regardlessofthereisa
dehumidicationneedornot.Thisisthedefaultmode.
[FanINT]
(INTermittent)
In[FanINT](INTermittent)mode,thefanwillstopwhenthedesiredhumidity(SetValueminusHysteresis)
isreached.IfthehumidityreadingstaysbelowtheSetValue,theprocessfanwillanyhowstartafter30
minutestoletthebuilt-insensormoreaccuratelysensetheconditionoftheincomingprocessair.The
fanwillrunforaminutetoproduceapropermeasurement.IfthehumidityisstillbelowtheSetValue,
thefanwillstopagain.ThisisrepeateduntilthehumidityreachestheSetValue,whichwillmakethe
dehumidicationstartagain.
[FanDEM](on
DEMand)
In[FanDEM](onDEMand)mode,thefanwillstopwhenthedesiredhumidity(SetValueminus
Hysteresis)isreached.Itwillstartagainwhenthesensedhumidityisequalto,orgreaterthantheSet
Value.Thisgivesinpracticeacontrolwithgreaterhysteresisthan“FanINT”,dependingonthefollowing:
Whenthedehumidierhasreachedthedesiredhumiditylevel,itwillshifttostand-byandstoptheprocess
fan.Afterawhile,internalmachineheatwillincreasethetemperatureofthehumiditysensor.Thismakes
thesensorreadingevenlower,i.e.thesystemfunctionsasiftherewasa“negativehysteresis”.Asa
result,agreaterhumidityloadwillbenecessarytomakethedehumidierstartcomparedwiththe“Fan
INT”mode.

Itispossibletosetthecontrol/presentationofthehumiditytoeitherRelativehumidity(RH%),Dewpoint
(Dp°C)orabsolutehumidity(Xgr/kg).
