MUST READ
For the majority of users, reading this paragraph should be sufficient
for installation. The unit can be installed by simply connecting it
between an input and output battery as depicted. The unit, by default,
shall start charging when the input voltage exceeds 13.2V and
switches off when the voltage drops below 13.0V for more than 240s
(adjustable). Going above 13.2V for 5 seconds shall reset this timer.
The default charging profile is 14.4V abs. and 13.6V float - for sealed
lead acid batteries (x2 for 24V | x3 for 36V | x4 for 48V). This means that
the vast amount of installations can be fitted out of the box without
any adjustments. In certain circumstances, when installing in a Euro 6
vehicle, you may have to use an ignition feed to the unit. When the ignition
is live, unit starts charging (may take up to 60seconds). Please read the
manual for additional information. If in doubt, and installing on a New Euro
6+, use ignition feed.

Updated software version 71 for Green striped BBxxx (version 3 board)
Ignition feed
live ignition feed
Best suited for Euro 6 engines
recommended
in compliance with good
electrical practice all wires
directly connected to a
battery should be correctly
fused. The applicable fuse
must be fitted close to the
battery side of the cable.
Temperature sensor can now be
installed on a lithium battery bank.
This can feedback the temperature
at the battery to prompt the charger
to stop charging if too cold.
This is adjustable from
-12DegC to +2DegC.
If BB is put into lithium charging
profile AND the temperature sensor
is connected, the BB shall trip if
sensor detects 0 Deg C. This
temperature threshold feature can
be adjusted or removed. No temp
voltage compensation takes place
in lithium.
The moment a live ignition feed is
connected, the regen braking timer
sets to 0 seconds. This means that
when you turn your engine off the BB
should also stop boosting. There
was a concern before that the BB
carries on charging after the engine
turns off. This has now changed to a
more binary on/off mode. With no
ignition feed connected the charger
shall still operate based on input
voltage thresholds. So, the BB can
still be used in an automatic sense
too.
Fitting an ignition feed is ideal for
Euro 6 vehicles. With no ignition feed
connected you may have to wait 10+
minutes for the BB to turn on and
start charging.

Changing temperature trip (only applicable if temperature
sensor is connected)
When lithium profile is selected in the battery type profile
there is a parameter that comes afterwards that enables the
user to select the battery temperature trip (only valid if
temperature sensor is connected). The default is 0 Degrees.
LED 17 (green High Temp Trip) shall illuminate to depict
0Deg. If you wish for the BB to trip at +2DegC then move the
LED up to 16 (high Volt in LED). Use the SETUP / SELECT
buttons to adjust up and down the column. If you wish for it to
be -2DegC, -4DegC,-6DegC, -8DegC, -10DegC, -12DegC
then move the LED to the appropriate level. Press both
buttons to confirm.
In custom charge settings, at the end of the custom routine
there is also this option to change the temperature. Here it
defaults to -30DegC (LED 24) as the custom setting assumes
that a lead acid battery is being charged, not lithium. IF you
have lithium batteries, do ensure that this temperature has
been set correctly. Certain lithium battery manufacturers
recommend setting the trip temperature to 0 Deg C.
Changes to this software version include:
1) Ignition feed mode has changed slightly. The moment a live ignition feed is fed to the ignition connector, the regen. braking timer
goes to 0 seconds. Live ignition still means that the BB operates even with 10V on the input, however, the BB stops charging when
ignition feed turns off rather than it continuing to charge after the engine has turned off. Moreover
, it still has the benefits of the
automatic features (13.3V on / 13.0V off etc).
2) If lithium charge profile is selected AND a battery temperature sensor (TSAY) is connected, the BB defaults to trip the charge if
temperature sensor detects 0Deg (or lower) at the lithium negative terminal (adjustable). Comes back on again at 1DegC+.
3) In custom charge profile, you can now adjust the temperature that the BB stops charging (if batt temp sensor is connected) range
is -30DegC -> +2DegC. If using in conjunction with lithium, you must also set the battery temp. compensation to off (see overleaf).
4) SVEM mode has now gone and has been replaced with battery temperature compensation on/off (see overleaf).
5) Lithium charge profile has been changed to 14.2V to reflect a more conservative charge voltage to encompass more lithium
manufacturers charge recommendations - if too low, please change the profile in the custom charge settings (see main manual).
Improved ignition feed mode | lithium temperature trip modes
Slightly modified ignition mode
During the custom charging settings (chronologically):
1) set absorption voltage
2) set condition voltage
3) set float voltage
4) set absorption time factor
5) set minimum absorption length
6) set maximum absorption length
7) set temperature trip (if temperature sensor is connected)
2x LEDs shall flash immediately prior to entering this mode.green
Default is -30Deg C (LED 24) - use the SETUP / SELECT buttons to move the LED up to the corresponding
temperature. Press both buttons to confirm.
