Laptops and other devices that have auto-accessory chargers:
Outfitter Satellite recommends that you use manufacturer-approved auto-accessory chargers for
your satellite phone, laptop, or other electronic device. Select 12 V on the output voltage slider
switch of the battery pack. Connect a manufacturer-approved auto-accessory charger to the
battery pack’s OUTPUT port. Never adjust output voltage slider switch while a device is charging.
The maximum output current of the battery pack is 4 A at 12 VDC, so if you are charging a device
that consumes a lot of power while running, like a laptop computer, perform the recharge while the
laptop is powered OFF.
Iridium satellite phones and the Iridium GO!:
Most Iridium phones and the Iridium GO! Hotspot have batteries with between 10 and 15 Watt-
Hours of energy storage. So, the 72-Watt-Hour battery pack (at room temperature) can recharge
an Iridium phone at least 4 times before needing to be recharged itself. Extreme heat or cold will
change the charging performance, and the battery pack will decrease in performance as it ages.
Optimizer Hotspot & Iridium AxcessPoint:
The Optimizer hotspot can be directly powered from the battery pack using the DC car charging
cable connected to the cigarette lighter output cable connected to the battery pack. The battery
pack’s output voltage slider switch must be set to12 VDC output mode — not 16 VDC or 19 VDC.
Using higher voltage could eventually damage the Optimizer hotspot.
The Iridium AxcessPoint and the Optimizer Wi-Fi Hotspot have an AC wall adapter. It is possible
to use an AC Inverter (not supplied) connected to the battery pack’s cigarette lighter output cable.
THE USER IS WARNED THAT AN AC INVERTER OUTPUTS 110+ VAC SO THAT DANGEROUS
EVEN FATAL ELECTROCUTION HAZARD EXISTS IF IT BECOMES WET. In general, Outfitter
Satellite recommends AGAINST using AC Inverters which produce voltages which are dangerous
in a potentially wet outside environment. Some AC Inverters are not compatible with the 10-Watt
Compact Solar Charger.
Charging an electronic device using the battery pack’s USB output port:
If you have a small USB rechargeable device like an iPhone, connect the device’s USB charger
cable to the USB output port of the battery pack. Press the battery pack’s POWER BUTTON for
3 seconds to activate the USB port. The fuel gauge will show the battery charge level. You
can power off the USB port by pressing the POWER BUTTON again for 3 seconds.
Optional adapter cables and connectors (NOT INCLUDED WITH RENTAL KIT):
The 10-Watt Compact Solar Charger kit can be purchased (but not rented) with a coiled USB
cable (with a mini-USB and a micro-USB adapter) and a 30” cable (with ten different adapter
plugs). The adapter plugs can connect to selected electronic devices including some popular
brands of laptops. Use at your own risk. Failure to follow your device manufacturer’s power input
specifications could damage your device. All electronic devices are not supported by the cable,
and Outfitter Satellite cannot provide assistance with third party electronic equipment and accepts
no liability for any damage that might occur to your electronic device.
