•Neversmokewhenhandlinggasoline,and

stayawayfromanopenameorwhere

gasolinefumesmaybeignitedbyspark.

•Storegasolineinanapprovedcontainer

andkeepitoutofthereachofchildren.

•Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Never

removethecapofthefueltankoradd

fuelwhenengineisrunningorwhenthe

engineishot.

•Iffuelisspilled,DoNotattempttostart

theengine.Moveawayfromtheareaof

thespillandavoidcreatinganysourceof

ignitionuntilfuelvaporshavedissipated.

•DoNotoperatewithoutentireexhaust

Thewheelclutchleversallowthedrivetomomentarily

disengagetooneorbothwheelswiththetraction

driveleverstillengaged.Thisallowseasierturning

andmaneuveringthemachine(seeFigure4).

Operation

Squeezingbothwheelclutchleverssimultaneously

disengagesthedrivetobothwheels(free-wheeling).

Thisenablesyoutomanuallymovethemachine

backwardwithoutstoppingtoshiftitintoareverse

gear.Italsoallowsyoutomaneuverandtransportthe

machinemoreeasilywhentheengineisnotrunning.

OpentheFuelShut-OffValve

Movethefuelshut-offvalve,thelowerleverlocated

belowthechoke,totherighttoturnonfuel.

StartingtheEngine

1.OntheRHsideoftheengine,rotatetheengine

on/offswitchclockwisetothe“ON”position.

2.OntherearLHsideoftheengine,movethe

chokelever,thetopleverlocatedabovethefuel

shut-offvalve,tothelefttothe“ON”position.

Onawarmengine,leavethechokeinthe“OFF”

position.

3.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweenthe“SLOW”

and“FAST”positionslocatedonrearRHside

4.Slowlypulltheenginerecoilhandleuntilyoufeel

resistanceandthenstop.Allowtherecoilhandle

toreturnandthensharplypullitstraightout.

Allowtheropetoreturnslowly.

5.Allowtheenginetowarmupforseveralminutes,

movethechoketowardthe“OFF”position.

StoppingtheEngine

1.Bringtheunittoafullstop.

2.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweenthe“SLOW”

and“FAST”positions.

3.Allowtheenginetorunforaminimumof15

seconds,thenturntheengineon/offswitchto

the“OFF”positiontostoptheengine.

4.Waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleaving

theoperatingposition.

5.Closethefuelshut-offvalve,locatedbelow

thechoke,bymovingittotheleftwhenthe

machinewillnotbeinuseforafewdays,when

transporting,orwhentheunitisparkedinside

abuilding.

disengagesthedrivetobothwheels.Thisenables

machinetobemovedrearwardwithoutstopping

toshiftitintoareversegear.Italsoallowsyouto

maneuverandtransportthemachinemoreeasily

whentheengineisnotrunning.

OperatingtheBroom

DANGER

Whenthemachineisinoperation,contactwith

rotatingormovingpartswillseverelyinjure

handsandfeet.

•Beforeadjusting,cleaning,inspecting,

troubleshooting,orrepairingthemachine,

stoptheengineandwaitforallmoving

partstostop.Disconnectthewirefromthe

sparkplugandkeepitawayfromtheplugto

preventsomeonefromaccidentallystarting

theengine.

•Staybehindthehandlesandawayfromthe

broomwhileoperatingthemachine.

•Keepface,hands,feet,andanyotherpartof

yourbodyorclothingawayfromconcealed,

moving,orrotatingparts.

WARNING

Contactwitharotatingbroomcanresultin

seriouspersonalinjuryordeathtotheoperator

orbystanders.

•Toremoveanobstructionfromthebroom;

refertoClearingaCloggedBroom.

CheckingtheSweepingPath

Abroomsweepswiththetipsofitsbristles.When

toomuchdownpressureisapplied,thebroomisno

longerusingitstips;thebroomisnowworkingwith

thesidesofthebristles(likeamop).Thislimitsthe

ickingactionofthebristles,sweepingeffectiveness,

andcandecreasebroomlife.

1.Drivetoaatdustyareaandstopthemachine.

2.Withtheenginerunning,withthethrottleset

midwaybetween“SLOW”and“FAST”.Engage

thebroomandallowthebroomtosweepfor

approximately30seconds.

3.Disengagethebroomandstoptheengine.

4.Waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleaving

theoperatingposition.

5.Turntheengineon/offswitchtothe“OFF”

position.

6.Makesuretheareasweptequalsthelengthofthe

broomand2-4inches(51-102mm)maximum

width.

2.Waitforallmovingpartstostop.

3.PushtheleverdownusingtheRHthumb(see

Figure4).

4.Squeezetheleftwheelclutchlevertothehandle

andpushthebroomhousingtothedesiredangle;

thebroomcanrotate19degreestotherightor

leftorstraightahead.

5.Oncethebroomispositioned,releasethebroom

anglelever.Releasetheleftwheelclutchleverand

makesurethebroomislockedintoplace.

WARNING

•Ifthebroombecomesclogged,stayinthe

operatingpositionandreleasethelefthand

tractiondrivelever.Whileengagingthebroom,

pushdownonthehandlestoraisethefrontof

themachineafewinches(centimeters)offthe

pavement.Thenliftthehandlesquicklytobump

thefrontofthemachineonthepavement.Repeat

ifnecessary.

•Ifyoucannotunclogthebroombybumpingthe

frontofthemachine:

–Parkthemachineonlevelground.Stop

PreventingFreeze-up

•Insnowyandcoldconditions,somecontrolsand

movingpartsmayfreeze.DoNotuseexcessive

forcewhentryingtooperatefrozencontrols.

Ifyouhavedifcultyoperatinganycontrolor

part,starttheengineandletitrunforafew

minutes.

•Afterusingthemachine,lettheenginerun

forafewminutestopreventmovingparts

fromfreezing.Engagethebroomtoclearany

remainingsnowfrominsidethehousing.Stop

theengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop,

andremovethesparkplugwire(s).Removeall

ice,snow,orotherdebrisfromthemachine.

•Reconnectsparkplugwire(s).Withtheengine

switchinthe“OFF”position,pulltherecoil

starterhandleseveraltimestopreventtherecoil

starterfromfreezingup.

Transporting

TransportingaUnit

WARNING

Loadingthemachineontoatrailerwithout

strongenoughorproperlysupportedramps

couldbedangerous.Therampscouldcollapse

causingtheunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.

•Useproperrampsthataresecuredtothe

truckortrailer.

•Keepfeetandlegsoutfromundertheunit

whenloadingandunloading.

•Ifnecessary,useassistancewhenloading.

Usefullwidthrampswhenloadingthemachine.

Besurethefuelshut-offvalveisclosedduring

transport.

Useaheavydutytrailertotransportthemachine.
