Operation

•Neverdirectdischargeatbystandersorallow

anyoneinfrontofthemachine.

•Takeallpossibleprecautionswhenleavingthe

machineunattended.Releasethebroom-drive

lever,traction-drivelever,shutofftheengine,and

removethekey.

•Alwaysbesureofyourfooting,andkeeparm

holdonthehandles.Walk;neverrun.

•Neveroperatethemachinewithoutgoodvisibility

orlight.

•Exercisecautiontoavoidslippingorfalling,

especiallywhenoperatingthemachineinthe

reversetraveldirection.

•Shutofftheenginewheneveryouleavethe

•Whencleaning,repairing,orinspecting,ensure

thattherotarybroomandallmovingpartshave

stopped.Disconnectthespark-plugwire,and

keepthewireawayfromtheplugtoprevent

accidentalstarting.

•Disengagethepowertotherotarybroomwhen

themachineistransportedornotinuse.

•Afterstrikingaforeignobject,shutofftheengine,

disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug,thoroughly

inspectthemachineforanydamage,andrepair

thedamagebeforestartingandoperatingthe

machine.

•Ifthemachineshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,

shutofftheengineandcheckimmediatelyforthe

cause.Vibrationisgenerallyawarningoftrouble.

•Neveroperatethemachinewithoutproperguards,

plates,orothersafetyprotectivedevicesinplace.

•Useonlyattachmentsandaccessoriesapproved

bythemanufacturerofthemachine(suchas

wheelweights,counterweights,cabs,etc.).

ClearingaCloggedBroom

WARNING

Therotatingbroomcouldcauseserious

injury.

Alwaysusecautionwhencleaningthebroom.

Toclearthebroom:

•Movethemachineonlevelground,shutoffthe

engine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and

disconnectthespark-plugwire(s).

•Sharpobjectscanbecomeentangledinthe

bristles.Wearprotectiveglovesandusecaution

whencleaningoutthebroomofforeignobjects;do

notuseyourbarehands.

MaintenanceandStorage

•Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhile

theengineisrunning(exceptwherespecically

recommendedbythemanufacturer).

•Checkallofthefastenersatfrequentintervalsfor

propertightnesstoensurethatthemachineisin

safe,workingcondition.

•Neverstorethemachinewithfuelinthefuel

tankinsideabuildingwhereignitionsourcesare

present,suchashotwaterandspaceheaters,

clothingdryers,etc.Allowtheenginetocool

beforestoringthemachineinanyenclosure.

•AlwaysrefertotheinstructionsintheOperator’s

Manualforimportantdetailsifthemachineistobe

•Maintainorreplacethesafetyandinstruction

•Ethanol:Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol

ether)byvolumeisacceptable.Ethanoland

MTBEarenotthesame.Gasolinewith15%

ethanol(E15)byvolumeisnotapprovedforuse.

Neverusegasolinethatcontainsmorethan

10%ethanolbyvolume,suchasE15(contains

15%ethanol),E20(contains20%ethanol),orE85

(containsupto85%ethanol).Usingunapproved

•Whenoperatinginacoldambientaircondition

(coldairtemperatureandhumidity),positionthe

air-cleanercoverwithsnowakedecalfacingout

(Figure8).

Note:Usethispositionifyourmachineexhibits

carburetoricing.Symptomsincludetheengine

runsroughatidleorlowspeed,anditdischarges

blackorwhitesmokeintheexhaust.

•Whenoperatinginanormalambientaircondition,
