tightenitsecurelyagainsttheboom.

14.Torquethe2boltsandnutssecuringtheboom

to183to223N·m(135to165ft-lb).

15.Installthespoilsaugerusingthebolt,2saddle

washer,andnutthatyouremovedpreviously.

DiggingaTrench

1.Starttheengine,raisetheboom,movethe

2.Pullthetrenchercontrollevertothereference

bartoengagethetrencher.

3.Withoutmovingthetractioncontrols,slowly

lowertheboomandchainintothegroundtothe

4.Oncethetrencherboomisinthegroundata45°

to60°angle,slowlymovethemachinerearward

toextendthetrench.

Note:Whiletrenching,thedrivespeed

automaticallydecreases.

5.Whennished,raisetheboomoutofthetrench,

thenstopthetrencher.

beforetrenchingtopreventdamagingthemachine.

•Alwaysbegintrenchingwiththeslowestground

speedpossible.Increasespeedifconditions

permit.Ifthechainspeedslowsdown,reduce

thegroundspeedtokeepthechainmovingatits

fastestrate.Donotspinthetrackswhiletrenching.

•Alwaysusefullthrottle(maximumenginespeed)

whentrenching.

•Alwaystrenchbackward(i.e.,inreverse).

•Trenchwiththechainata45°to60°angleforbest

results.

•Youwillbeabletodigatrenchfasterbycontrolling

thedepthwithperiodicadjustmentsoftheboom.

•Ifthetrencherbindsinthesoil,reversethechain

direction.Oncethechainisloose,changechain

directionsandcontinuetrenching.

•Ifyouneedthenishedtrenchtobecleaner

thanwhatispossiblewiththetrencher,you

canpurchaseacrumberfromyourdealer.The

crumbermountsontothetrencherheadand

scrapesthetrenchcleanasyoudig.
