INSTALLATION
InstallationOverview
Whenchoosingalocationforyournewstove,thereareamultitudeof
factorsthatshouldbetakenintoaccountbeforebeginningtheinstallation.
1. TrafficPatternsTohelppreventaccidents,thestoveshouldbeplaced
inalocationwhereitisoutofthewayofnormaltravelthroughthe
home.
2. HeatFlowWhendecidingonalocationforthestove,considertheway
heatmovesthroughoutyourhome.Installthestovewhereyouneed
theheat;basementinstallationsoftendonotallowsuffic ient heatto
flowtotheupperfloorsandatopfloorinstallationwillnotallowany
heattoreachthefloorsbelow.Alwaysconsiderthatheatrisesandwill
takethepathofleastresistancewhileitisstillhot.
3. ExhaustLocationOutsidewallsaregenerallythebestplacetoinstalla
stove,sincetheyalloweasyexhaustandintakeairinstallation(usingour
DuraVentAC3000Kit,AC33000ifCa nada). Ifthereisnotafeasible
waytoinstallthestoveonanoutsidewall,thereare
methodsfor
ventingthestoveupthroughtheroof,buttheytendtobemorecostly
becausetheyinvolvetheuseofmorepelletventpipeandcanoften
makeoutsideairinstallationmoredifficult.
4. WallConstructionLocatingthestovesothattheexhaustsystemcan
passbetweenstudswillsimplifytheinstallationandeliminatetheneed
toreframeanysectionsofthewalltoaccommodatethewallthimble.

Donotstoreorusegasolineorotherflammablevaporsandliquidsinthevicinityof
thisoranyotherappliance.

throughtheburnpotandpushestheexhaustairthroughtheventpipeandoutofthebuilding.
Thisunitmustbeinstalledinaccordancewiththefollowingdetaileddescriptionsofventing
techniques;notinstallingthestoveinaccordancewiththedetailslistedherecanresultinpoor
stoveperformance,propertydamage,bodilyinjuryordeath.England’sStoveWorksisnot
responsibleforanydamageincurredduetoapoororunsafeinstallation.

DONOTinstallafluepipedamperoranyotherrestrictivedeviceintheexhaustventing
systemofthisunit.
USEanapprovedwallthimblewhenpassingthroughawallandaceilingsupport/fire
stopwhenpassingthroughaceiling.
ONLYuse3.0”or4.0”TypeLorTypePLpipeapprovedforpelletstoveventing;DONOT
usegalvanizedorBVentpipe.
SEALeachjointofpelletventwithhightemperaturesilicone(Part#ACRTV3)to
preventsmokespillageintothehome.

Werequireaminimumverticalriseof36in.(3ft.)ofpipetocreatenaturaldraftinthe
system,whichhelpsevacuatesmokefromthestoveintheeventofapowerfailureor
combustionblowerfailure.
Ventingsystems15.0ft.orshortermaybecomposedentirelyof3.0in.pelletpipe;to
reducefrictionallosses,ventingsystemslongerthan15.0ft.shouldbecomposedof4.0
in.pelletpipe.
Donotterminatetheventingsystemdirectlybeneathanycombustiblestructuresuchas
aporchordeck.

B) MIN. 1-FT CLEARANCE ABOVE ANY DOOR OR WINDOW THAT OPENS.
C) MIN. 2-FT CLEARANCE FROM ANY ADJACENT BUILDING.
D) MIN. 7-FT CLEARANCE FROM ANY GRADE WHEN ADJACENT TO PUBLIC

Notes on termination of Pellet Vent Pipe from NFPA211(2006ed.)Section10.4Termination:10.4.5 (See
also “INSTALLATION” section of manual AND additional notes above):
1. Not less than three (3) feet above any forced air inlet located within ten (10) feet.
2. Not less than four (4) feet below, four (4) feet horizontally from, or one (1) foot above any door,
window or gravity air inlet into any building.
3. Not less than two (2) feet from an adjacent building, and not less than seven (7) feet above
grade where located adjacent to public walkways.
The exhaust exit shall be arranged so that the flue gases are not directed so that it will affect people,
overheat combustible structures, or enter buildings. Forced draft systems and all parts of induced
draft systems under positive pressure during operation shall be installed gastight or to prevent
leakage of combustion products into a building. Through-the-wall vents shall not terminate over
public walkways, or where condensate or vapor could create hazards or a nuisance.
Be sure to follow local codes and all manufacturer’s instructions (including exhaust pipe).

kit,AC33000ifCanada(orsimilarventing
system)isalsothepreferredventing
method.Itminimizeshorizontalpipe,
allowsthestovetobeinstalledclosetothe
wallandkeepsthecleanoutteeon
the
outsideofthehouse,foreaseofcleaning.
Wheninstallinganyventingsystem,TypeL
orTypePLpipemustbeusedandall
clearancestocombustibles(listedbythe
pipemanufacturer)mustbestrictly
adheredto.
Usethepipemanufacturer’sapproved
thimbleforpassingthroughacombustible
wall,andmaintainatleasttheminimum
clearancestocombustibles.
Useanappliancecollarwherethepelletventconnectstotheexhaustoutputofthepellet
stoveandattachtheappliancecollartotheexhaustbloweroutputusingthreesheetmetal
screws.
Securethepelletventtotheoutsideofthehouseusingawallstrapjustbelowthe90
degreeelbow.
SealeachpipeconnectionjointwithhightemperatureRTVSilicone,toensurethesystemis
leakfree(Checkwiththespecificventingsystemmanufacturer’sinstructionsbeforedoing
so).
Ifthepelletventpipebeingused
isnota“TwistLock”system,three(3)sheetmetalscrews
arerequiredateachpipejoint.
Connectthepelletstovetooutsidecombustionairusingthekitincludedwithyourstoveor
usinganalternativemethod,asdescribedinthe“OutsideAir”section,onpage15.
This
installationtypecanbemodifiedforbasement(Basementinstallationsshouldalways
beperformedbyaprofessionalinstaller)orotherinstallationswhereintheteeandvertical
sectionofthepipewouldbeinsidethehomeandtheventingsystemwouldsimplypass
horizontallythroughthethimbleandthenterminate.

systemandtheexistingchimney.
Beforeusinganexistingchimney,becertainitisin
goodcondition(Achimneysweepinspectionishighly

GettingStarted
Checktoseethatthehopperiscleanandfreefromforeignmaterials.Besuretoconnect
thisunittoaworkingoutlet;werecommendusingasurgeprotectortohelpprotectthe
electroniccomponentsfromdamage.
BEFOREyourfirstfire,dryrunyourunit(nopelletfuelinthehopper)fortwentyminutes;
pressingthe“ON”buttonwiththeunitpluggedinwillinitiatethedryrun.
o Oncethe“ON”buttonispressed,youshouldimmediatelyheartheexhaustblower
startandoperatecontinuously.
o Afteraboutthreetofiveminutes,lookfortheredglowof
theigniterintheigniter
portoftheburnpottobecertainitisoperatingnormally.
o Holdthehopperlidswitch(See“IllustratedPartsDiagram”pg.38)downwithyour
fingerandchecktoseethattheaugeristurning.Releasethehopperlidswitchand
becertain
thattheaugerstopsturning.DONOTPUTYOURFINGERSINTHE
HOPPERORNEARTHEROTATINGAUGER.
Afterabouttwentyminutes,thecontrolboardshoulddisplay“E2”inthetwodisplay

Atthispoint,thedryruniscompleteandyourpelletheatingapplianceisreadyfornormal

LightingaFire
Inorderforthisstovetooperate,thehoppermustfirstbefilledwithpelletfuel.Liftthe
hopperlidusingtheflushmounthandleandpourthepelletfueldirectlyintothehopper.
WerecommendusingonlypelletsmanufacturedbyPFICertifiedfacilities,since
pelletsbearingthePFIstampofapprovalwillbelowinashandmoisture,highin
BTU’s,anduniforminsizeandquality.
Thispelletstovewillperformequallywellusingsoftwoodandhardwoodpellets,and
althoughtheashmaydifferslightlyinappearanceortexture,bothtypesofpelletswillburn
cleanly
andefficientlyinthisstove.
Thispelletstoveisequippedwithanautomaticpelletignitionsystem;theonlyuserinput
requiredtolightthestoveisasimplepressofthe“On”button.
Shortlyafterpressingthe“On”button,thelettersSUwillappearinthe
heatrangeand
blowerspeedwindowsofthecontrolboard.Thisindicatesthestovehasenteredthestart
upsequenceandisoperatingnormally.

operationandthedisplaywindowsonthecontrolboardwillremainempty,unlesstheHeat
RangeorBlowerSpeedisadjusted.
DailyOperationNotes
Onlyhighquality,¼”(.25in.)diameterwoodpellets,shouldbeusedinthisstove.Usinglow
gradewoodpelletswithhighashcontentORwoodpelletswithahighmoisturecontent
cancausetheburnpottofillwithashatamorerapidpaceandcancauseintervalsbetween
periodicmaintenancetobecomesignificantlyshorter.Pleasereadthe“Maintenance”
sectionofthismanualthoroughlytounderstandhowfuelselectionaffectsstoveoperation,
maintenanceandcleaning.
Variationintheflameheightisnormal;notallwoodpelletfuelisuniforminsize,whichcan
affectthewaypelletsarefedintotheburnpot.Althoughtheflameheightmayincreaseand
decreaseduringoperation,thereisnolossofefficiency.
Alwaysstorewoodpelletfuelinadrylocation;storingwoodpelletfuelinadrylocation
ensuresthefuelwillremainpelletizedandlowinmoisturecontent.Also,becertainthatall
woodpelletfuelisstoredatasafedistancefromthepelletheater;storingfuelinclose
proximitytothestovecanresultinafire.
Thispelletburningroomheaterisequippedwithaspeciallydesignedburnpotwhichcomes
preinstalledfromthefactory.Thisburnpotelevatestheburningpelletsanddeliversairat
thepreciserequiredlocations.Pelletsmustonlybeburnedinthefactoryburnpot;no
modificationsshouldbemadetothisburnpotandnoadditionalgratesorotherfire
elevatorsshouldbeadded.

Thecontrolboardonthisstoveallowstheusertoadjusttheheatoutputandconvection
blowerspeed,turntheunitonandoff,andtestcomponentsforfunction(moreondiagnostic
modelater).
Thelowerbuttonsonthecontrolboard(LowFuelFeed,LowBurnAir,andAironTemp)are
notmeanttobeadjustedduringnormaloperationoftheunit.Thesebuttonsarefactory
presetandcannotbeadjustedbytheuser.
Toenergizetheunitandinitiateafire,pressthe“On”button.TheLEDabovethebutton
shouldturngreenandthecontrolboardshoulddisplay“SU”shortlyafterpressingthe
button.
Toshuttheunitdown,pressthe“Off”button.TheLEDabovethebuttonshouldturnred
andtheboardshoulddisplay“Sd”shortlyafterpressingthebutton.Thisinitiatestheshut
downsequence,andthestovewillremaininshutdownmodeuntilithascooleddown.
Toincreasetheheatoutputofthestove,pressthe“Up”heatrangebutton.Thenumberin
theheatrangedisplaywindowwillincrease,signifyingthatthecontrolboardisnow
adjustingtheheatoutputtoyourdesiredlevel.Theblowerspeedwillincreasethesame
amountastheheatrange,becausethestoveisdesignedtooperatewiththeblowerspeed
greaterthanorequaltotheheatrange.Pressingthe“Down”arrowwilldecreasetheheat
rangeandblowerspeed.
Toincreasetheblowerspeedwithoutincreasingtheheatrange,presstheBlowerSpeed
“Up”arrowuntilthedesiredblowerspeedisshowninthedisplaywindow.Pressingthe
“Down”arrowwilldecreasetheblowerspeed;however,thecontrolboardwillnotallow
theblowerspeedtobesetlowerthantheheatrange.
Caution
Thisunitismeanttooperateonlywiththeashpanandmainviewing
doorclosed.Smokespillageandaninefficient,lazyburnwillresult
fromattemptingtooperatethestovewitheitherdooropen.
Inaddition,usingfuelotherthanwoodpelletscancreateanunsafe
situationandcanalso
generateexcesscarbonmonoxide.Carbon
monoxideisanodorless,colorlessgaswhichcanbedeadly.
