1. INTRODUCTION
The On-Q/Legrand Power Line Carrier Transmitter Expansion
Kit, P/N 363439-01, may be used with On-Q’s PLC Transceiver
Kit, P/N 363438-01 (refer to IS-0008) and On-Q’s Home Lighting
Controller or any On-Q HMS Controller to enable the controller to
transmit power line carrier (PLC) signals to both 120 VAC poles
of a home’s electrical service to provide uniform PLC control
signal transmission throughout the home.
The kit (see Figure 1) includes the following:
1 – Additional PLC Plug-In Cube
1 – Additional 6P4C Modular Cable (reversed end-to-
end)
1 - Modular Cable Adapter
2. INSTALLATION
DANGER: To avoid risk of fire or shock, turn off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Test to be sure the
power is off before wiring.
Installation Procedure
Figure 2 depicts a method that may be used to connect a single duplex receptacle to both poles of the home’s electrical
service using a split duplex receptacle and 2-pole circuit breaker.
NOTE: The split-duplex receptacle is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code
and local regulations. It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform this installation.

Figure 3 depicts the installation of the kit components to a split duplex receptacle.
The kit provides uniform PLC signal transmission to both poles of the home’s electrical service. The PLC Plug-In Cube
that is connected to the Modular Cable Adapter’s “X10-1” jack provides both a PLC signal “transmit” and “receive” path
between the controller and the homes electrical service. The PLC Plug-In Cube that is plugged into the Modular Cable
Adapter’s “X10-2” jack provides a PLC signal “transmit” path from the controller to the homes electrical service only.
Step 1: Plug the supplied Modular Adapter into the controller’s X-10 jack.
Step 2: Plug a modular cable into each port of the Adapter
Step 3: Plug the other end of the modular cables into the Power Line Interfaces.
Step 4: Each Power Line Interface should then be plugged into a 120VAC outlet.
During normal operation, each PLC Plug-In Cube’s red LED indicator will blink when PLC signals are transmitted and
received.
