Before wiring to power supply, turn off electricity at fuse or circuit

Do not use outdoors.
Do not mount near gas or electric heater.
When back-mounted, fixture must be grounded to avoid potential
electric shock.
Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where
it will not readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized
personnel.
The use of accessory equipment not recommended by the manu-
facturer may cause an unsafe condition.
Do not use this equipment for other than intended use.

color contrast between the sign legend and the
interior wall finish behind the sign, to provide for
sufficient visibility.

Ceiling Mount
NOTE:
If painting or plastering after trim ring is installed,
mask mounting holes on trim ring. Tape provided in
prepack.
INSTALLATION: ROUGH-IN SECTION
(Ref: Fig. 1 and 2)
CEILING MOUNT
Bar hangers g are adjustable from 14

" to 24". Reverse bar
hangers 90 degrees by removing bar hanger bracket screws
c , and moving bar hanger brackets b,and bar hangers g to
the alternate end mounting holes f. Reattach with bar hanger
bracket screws c. Break along the score lines of bar hangers
g to reduce spacing to 12".
Position the rough-in section with the end flanges 21 of the
cover can a flush with the upper surface of the ceiling
material. Secure by tightening the bar hanger locking screws
e.
WOOD JOISTS:
Adjust bar hangers to fit against joists. Drive nailer tabs into
wood. See Fig. 2B.
SUSPENDED CEILINGS:
Fasten the ends of the bar hangers securely to T-bars using T-
bar clips h and clip screws. See Fig. 2A.
Wiring:
See Wiring Instructions and Diagrams, Page 6.
CLOSE-IN
DRY CEILING:
Cutout hole in ceiling material should not exceed 4 1/2" x 13
3/4" (max.). Note: The top of the cover can a may be used as
a template to trace cutout onto ceiling material. Install trim ring
halves m and secure with trim ring mounting screws l.
WET CEILING:
Do not plaster inside the plaster ring opening.Install trim ring
halves m and secure with trim ring mounting screws l.
INSTALLATION: SIGN PANEL ASSEMBLY
Assemble Lamp Housing i to Recess Mounting Plate o (Fig.
1) by inserting Housing into Plate and securing with two Lamp
Housing Mounting Screws j, inserting Star Washer 32
between screw and plate (one place). This step will assure
proper grounding. Connect Lamp Plug Assembly q and Test
Switch Plug Assembly 28. Attach Sign Panel Assembly to
Rough-In Section with two Captive Mounting Screws p.

Back Mount
INSTALLATION: ROUGH-IN SECTION

BACK MOUNT
NOTE: Wall mount retainers k must be
used when back mounting

side flanges 21 of the cover can a flush
with the inner (stud side) surface of wall
material.
WOOD STUDS:
Adjust bar hangers to fit against studs.
Secure by tightening the locking screws e.
Drive nailer tabs into wood.
METAL STUDS:
Installation is the same as for wood studs except that sheet
metal screws (not provided) should be used to fasten the ends
of the bar hanger to the studs. These screws should have a
minimum pullout rating of 30 pounds.
BACK MOUNTING ABOVE DOORWAY
(Ref: Fig. 3, 4 and 5)
Before installing the rough-in section above a doorway, make
certain that there will be adequate clearance between the
bottom of the sign panel and the top of the door. See Fig. 4 for
sign panel dimensions.
See Fig. 5 for cases where the rough-in section extends above
the ceiling line (as with suspended ceilings). allow bar hangers
to be properly secured.

See Wiring Instructions and Diagrams, Page 6 .

Assemble Lamp Housing i to Recess Mounting Plate o (Fig.
3). Insert Wall Mount Retainers k into Recess Mounting Plate
o routing sleeved wires (one place) through large opening in
the end of the Retainer k. Place hole in Ground Clip 31 over
Captive Mounting Screw p and slotted end of Ground Clip 31
in groove of Wall Mount Retainer k (one side). Insert screw
through slot in Ground Clip and hole in Wall Mount Retainer
and secure to Housing. This will assure proper grounding.
Connect Lamp Plug Assembly q and Test Switch Plug
Assembly 28. Attach Sign Panel Assembly to Rough-In Section
with two Captive Mounting Screws p.

End Mount
INSTALLATION:ROUGH-IN SECTION

END MOUNT
(Requires End Mount Panel Assembly)
Remove bar hanger bracket screws c and relocate bar
hanger brackets b with bar hangers g to alternate mounting
holes (on ends of cover can) and secure using same screws.
Bar hangers are adjustable from 14

" to 24". Break along
bar hanger score lines to reduce spacing to 12" Rough-in
section may be off-centered if necessary, but bar hangers
should be secured together with bar hanger locking screws e.

SIGN PANEL CLEANING:
Clean sign panel assembly by using any industrial-grade
acrylic cleaner and a clean soft cloth. DO NOT USE
ammonia-based glass cleaner on acrylic surfaces as it will
damage the clear finish. We can recommend Brillianize by
Kleenmaster.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS AND
DIAGRAMS
MAINTENANCE:
LAMP REPLACEMENT:
1. Remove recess mounting plate o, and lamp housing
assembly i from rough-in section by unscrewing two
captive mounting screws p. See Fig. 1.
2. Disconnect lamp plug assembly q.
3. Remove end cap screw t and end cap s (connector
side of lamp housing).
4. Slide lamp board assembly from lamp housing i .
5. Replacement is reverse of above.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
1. Remove recess mounting plate o, and lamp assembly i
from rough-in section by unscrewing two captive mount-
ing screws m. See figure 1.
2. Disconnect lamp plug assembly n andf power plug
assembly 29.
3. Remove mounting bracket screw 25, and remove mount-
ing bracket by sliding it slightly forward to release
opposite end.
4. Disconnect battery connecter, and pry battery from
bracket using a flat blade screwdriver.
5. Replacement is reverse of above.
WIRING:
Select and remove desired knockout for AC power input and
ensure adequate lengths of AC power leads extending into
inside of cover can a.
Connect AC power supply according to proper wiring
diagram. Cap all unused leads with wire nuts. Use cup
washer

INVERTER/CHARGER BOARD
REPLACEMENT:
1. Remove recess mounting plate o, and lamp assembly i
from rough-in section by unscrewing two captive mounting
screws m. See figure 1.
2. Disconnect lamp plug assembly q.
3. Remove mounting bracket screw 25, and remove mount-
ing bracket by sliding it slightly forward to release
opposite end.
4. Remove board by depressing locking wings of each
standoff white lifting board gently at standoff location.
5. Cut strain relief wire tie holding wire bundle to bracket.
6. Remove inverter/charger board with all attached wiring.
7. Replacement is reverse of above.
